'Rain Over Me' is such a catchy song and it does sound very much like the type of Eurodance hits that were popular in the late 90s. I've always had a soft spot for cheesey European dance and pop so this song appeals to me. To be honest, Pitbull was very close to entering my chart at #5 but I thought Maroon 5, Andain and Sak Noel deserved to stay higher up as these have been three of my fave songs in the last couple of weeks - Sak Noel still growing on me. I like 'Loca People' more now than I did when I first heard it.

You're right, this is a different style again compared to 'The A Team'. Odd to think that 'The A Team' spent 10 weeks inside the UK top 10 raising Ed Sheeran's profile in the UK. Yet this single doesn't look like it's going to be anywhere near as successful. :o Ed Sheeran should hold well for me in the next couple of weeks.

This has been another grower. Last week after only a few listens I thought it was good enough to enter my Pre-Release chart at #9. What I do like about this track is how it starts off subtle and gradually builds up as the song progresses. It's far from being an instant hit (the type of song that grabs your attention from the first 10 seconds) but that's the beauty of this song.

I never realised just how much this does sound like 'Only Girl (In The World)' until Luke pointed it out. I can hear the resemblence in 'Wet' by Nicole Scherzinger more obviously. 'Night Of Your Life' is good and it's certainly better than 'Little Bad Girl'. I've still not heard 'Turn Me On' yet but for me it's all about 'Titanium'.

Oh no, not for me. I think 'Who's Laughing Now' is ok - certainly good enough to make my chart, but it's doesn't come anywhere the standard set by 'Price Tag' which remains of the my pop hits of 2011. Even 'Nobody's Perfect' I'd say is better although that song got boring quite quickly for me. I still don't like 'Do It Like A Dude' so that remains Jessie J's only single that has failed to make my top 40.

I wouldn't say it's a different direction - the style of the song is very much Florence & The Machine. It's such a unique style that not many other artists are doing. The only other song in my chart that has the Florence sound is 'Video Games' by Lana Del Rey which is both haunting and beautiful at the same time hence why it's been able to hold strong at #1 in my chart for 3 weeks.

Totally agree which is why I find it really disappointing when artists follow up an incredible song that goes to no. 1 in my chart with some underwhelming second single. I don't think I will ever get bored of listening to 'Change The Way You Kiss Me' whilst 'Stay Awake' is just nowhere near as strong. Example has been very lucky to get a second no. 1 single with this. For me, it's adds to the list of non #1s that hardly anyone will rememeber in 3 months time.

I've been a big fan of Will Young since he was on Pop Idol ten years ago. I picked him out early on in the live finals as my favourite - and definitely better than Gareth "one man Westlife" Gates. So you imagine my sheer surprised when Will Young won Pop Idol, I genuinely thought Gareth had walked it. Shame you don't like 'Leave Right Now' as for me it's one of the best pop songs of the last decade. It was my first ever personal chart #1 in January 2004. Had I been doing my own chart in 2003, 'Leave Right Now' could've ended spending up to 7 weeks at #1 in my chart. His album 'Friday's Child' is also one of my fave albums from the last 10 years. 'Jealousy' would've easily been no. 1 for me had it not been for BJSC which is where I discovered 'Video Games'.

 

06 (05) Andain - Promises (03-03-05-06) [4 wks] This is good, I much prefer the Nero track of the same name :P

 

Both tracks entered my chart in the same week. It must've looked odd to people the week before when Andain and Nero were the top 2 in my Pre-Release chart. 'Promises' by Nero is a great track but for me personally, I still think 'Me & You' is their best single to date.

I would agree but I've thought all along that 'Stay Awake' is nowhere near as strong as 'CTWYKM' so I would've preferred to see Maroon 5 no. 1 on Sunday. It's going to be the bigger selling song anyways so the fact Maroon 5 won't ever make #1 is irrelevant. It's already outsold Wretch 32, Emeli Sandé, Calvin Harris and is likely to outsell Olly Murs, Pixie Lott and The Saturdays too in the long run.

Purely for the fact it's sticking around whilst others have come and gone, I would've preferred to see Maroon 5 outsell Wretch 32 when the tracks were first released. 'Don't Go' being a fairly typical UK no. 1 that imo only got there because of the artist rather than the song. The type of track that is guaranteed to flop if ever released in any other country. I'm sure others will disagree. :P It's just a shame that marketing new singles has taken us back to the UK charts circa 1999 when the genuinely popular songs stuck around for ages without going to no. 1, whilst the no. 1 singles came and went at the blink of an eyelid.

 

Pixie Lott's single may be generic but I've never been a Pixie Lott fan so to me 'All About Tonight' is about as good as her two chart toppers from 2009. However, The Saturdays and Leona have both had a few top 10 hits for me (Leona scoring 4 no. 1s in my chart to date) so their new singles are much more disappointing as to me they've released better singles in the past than Pixie Lott has.

 

'Collide' will be lucky to make my top 20 this coming weekend which is shocking considering Leona's track record since 2006. The only good thing I can say about 'All Fired Up' is that it's better than 'Notorious' but stll nowhere near the standard of 'Up'.

I read on YouTube that this is getting released in October but it didn't state which countries. I'd love to see this become a massive hit eventually but the UK are too busy sending songs like 'Don't Go', 'Swagger Jagger' and 'Stay Awake' to no. 1 to appreciate a song like 'Video Games'. Then again like I mentioned above, it sounds quite Florence & The Machine so I'd like to think if Radio 2 got behind the song, it could be a minor top 20 hit?

'Jealousy' is brilliant. I liked it on first listen and I can see this being one of those songs I will never get bored of listening to. Will Young's has had such an incredible run in my chart with his singles. In fact, all his singles from 'Keep On' topped my chart back in 2005/2006 but they just appealed to me.

You really think it lacks "oomph". I think the chorus is great - that's where the "oomph" is for me. Adam has always sounded like that in his songs. I guess that's his style, I wouldn't say he sounds bored. Perhaps Christina's vocals make his vocals sound tame in comparison. :kink:

I think there's a very good chance of this getting to no. 1 - it's released two weeks after One Direction so by their third week on the chart I'm sure their sales will have tailed off. It's also on the Radio 1 C-list this week so if it goes B-list next week then A-list the week after than I reckon this will easily get the #1 spot.

Yeah, I know it's been on iTunes for a while but nothing made me want to chart it early. Last week was supposedly its release date hence why it finally charted. I like this but in terms of Tinie Tempah's single nothing comes close to 'Written In The Stars'.

:lol: I started doing a Pre-Release chart way back in 2006 when ChC Media used to exsist. I just kept it up ever since as a way of focusing on new releases that I like. It's not exactly a strong indicator of where a song is likely to peak in my main chart. I've had pre-release #1 singles go straight to #1 in my main chart, whilst others have been pre-release #1 and ended up charting between 6-10.
