X Factor's Overs: Robbie Williams was so normal!

Published Monday, Oct 7 2013, 18:00 BST | By Lara Martin | Add comment

Robbie Williams got an amazing reception on X Factor this weekend when he popped up as guest judge for Sharon Osbourne and, according to her Overs category, he made just as big an impression off screen.

The 'Angels' singer joined Sharon at her home in Los Angeles to help her decide which three Overs to take to the live shows.

Sharon appeared with her selected contestants – Sam Bailey, Lorna Simpson and Shelley Smith – on ITV's Lorraine this morning.

"It was just bizarre, let me tell you," said Shelley, reflecting on the moment Robbie arrived.

Prison officer Sam added: "He didn't come and just do [what we saw on the show]. He was chatting with us, talking to us. His little girl was there and his lovely wife. He was just so normal. I was like, 'Swoon!'"

Lorna added that she sang a bit of her favourite Robbie song, 'Love Supreme', for him.

Sharon said that she appreciated having Robbie in LA to help her, explaining: "To have somebody who wasn't invested [was great], he hadn't seen my group before, so it's fresh eyes and ears."

X Factor 2013: Robbie Williams latest name confirmed for live shows

Posted October 30, 2013 17:17 by Josh Darvill

Robbie Williams has been confirmed to appear on The X Factor UK live shows this year.

The singer is a regular on the series and this autumn will be no different.

We’ve already seen Robbie appear alongside Sharon Osbourne at judges’ houses, and next month he’ll take to The X Factor stage.

Robbie is expected to perform new single Go Gentle, from his upcoming studio album Swings Both Ways. -_-

He’ll share the stage with Celine Dion, :arrr: who will be singing her new song Loved Me Back To Life, although will pre-record the performance on Friday evening before the weekend’s live shows.

Other performers rumoured to perform on the upcoming live shows include X Factor’s One Direction and Olly Murs, Miley Cyrus and the show’s own judge Gary Barlow.

Robbie Williams & his ship wow with Go Gentle on X Factor 2013 results show

November 10th, 2013 by Lisa McGarry.

Robbie Williams is on X Factor so much these days, that we almost feel he’s like a temporary member of the judging panel!

The former Take That star joined Sharon Osbourne at judges houses in LA earlier this year as she picked her final three contestants for the live shows and he’s previously assisted Gary Barlow at that stage in other series.’

Rob is never far from the X Factor star either and it feels like he shows up every year to strut his stuff and terrify Louis Walsh!

Tonight the new dad returned to the stage to promote his new single ‘Go Gentle’ and before performing his team bigged up the appearance on Twitter posting:

“Go Gentle is out today! Don’t miss Robbie perform it on @TheXFactor later… #RobbieSwings”

His old pal Gary was busy hyping it up too and tweeted:

“So excited to see @robbiewilliams tonight on #XFactor”

Go Gentle was written by Robbie and his pal Guy Chambers and was released today as the lead single from his tenth studio album Swings Both Ways.

In an Interview with Magic FM said that the song song is a promise to his daughter Teddy, he said:

“Go Gentle is a promise I’m making to my daughter. It was written when she first arrived on the planet and I’d been a selfish popstar for most of my life and then all of a sudden I’ve been asked to take care of this whole person.”

“I still am scared that I’m not up to the task! I’m doing a good job of being dad but it’s scary, you have to look after this person for the whole of their life, I’m not very good at even looking after me!”

Robbie performed on a ship tonight, or a fake ship we should say. Dressed in a suave black suit he looked every inch the classic star but it was a more low key and emotional performance, with a lot less zaniness and craziness than we’ve become used to.

He was supported by a large backing band, with a full brass section, and we have to say, while this wasn’t a typical RW performance, we quite enjoyed the change.

What was his last single?

I'm not sure I bought it.

Yip :(

I bought Different from Germany. Was that his last one?

I think it was Be a Boy  the video to it showed clips from the O2 gig.

Or was it Gospel

Oh. I bought neither.

My sequence is broken. :(

Technically his last single before this was 'Goin' Crazy' with Dizzee Rascal which was a top 10 but yes. 'Be a Boy' was the last one proper. Lovely performance tonight :)

I downloaded the Dizzee Rascal one ^_^

Now that I think of it Be a Boy was download only. No physical cd for me to buy ^_^

Factor judges: Gary Barlow backs Robbie Williams to replace him

Posted November 15, 2013 00:01 by Josh Darvill

X Factor 2013 judge Gary Barlow has backed Robbie Williams to replace him on the panel.

Gary previously confirmed he was quitting the show, announcing his departure after three years at the start of the live shows.

According to the Daily Star newspaper today, producers have put Robbie on top of their hit list, and could tell the Take That star to simply “name your price” to make sure the secure him for the show.

An insider told the tabloid: “Robbie tops Simon’s wishlist for the dream team he has set his heart on next year.”

Speaking to the Metro newspaper, Gary gave his backing to his former bandmate: “I do absolutely (think he’ll be great).

“Artists like him have got so much experience, he’s had 23 years at the top. The right thing to do at that point is pass a bit of it down to other people.”

Gary went on to insist however he didn’t know anything about who would actually be replacing him, and confessed he’d be up for an appearance on the show next year still!

“I don’t know [who will be my replacement] but I have said to the show that I’d love to come back to judges’ houses or do any of that stuff,” he added.

Bookies meanwhile are making former judge Cheryl Cole a favourite to re-join the show.

With rumours circulating she’s kissed and made-up with Simon the odds of Cheryl making a sensation return to next year’s X Factor have been slashed into just 3/1 from 9/1.

And should Cheryl become a mentor again it’s a case of when and not if Cowell joins her, and the father-to-be’s odds have also been cut, making him a 4/1 chance to take a place in the hot seat in 2014.

Robbie and Olly Murs are fancied as 6/1 shots, or it’s 8/1 that Rita Ora or Mel B move up the ranks and become a permanent judge.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Punters would love to see Cheryl back on X Factor, and by putting their money where their mouth is it has seen her odds collapse.”
