September 8, 201113 yr Great for Olly Murs! I hope he stays there! Good for Sean Kingston aswell. Unless I'm mistaken, the song hasn't actually been sent to radio, so it's good that radio stations are playing it of their own accord.
September 8, 201113 yr Can not believe Pixie Lott is #4! Are the Sat or Leona even top 50 on radio? Great news for Leona on TV though! #3!

September 8, 201113 yr This week The Saturdays are #36. Leona is #67. Thanks MJ2006, really hope Leona is top 50 come Sunday, Radio support has been so bad, hope it builds as the weeks go. Happy with TV though #16 now looks like #3 on second week, but radio support is just so important.
September 8, 201113 yr I'm shocked at how low Leona is on radio actually. Based solely on the artists, you would expect Leona to have the most radio support, so it's a bit surprising how things have unfolded like this.

Unless I'm mistaken, the song hasn't actually been sent to radio, so it's good that radio stations are playing it of their own accord. I've heard it loads on Capital and I only really listen to Capital on Monday and Friday from like midnight - if they play it as much in the daytime as they do at nighttime I'm not surprised it's so high in the airplay chart despite not being 'officially' on the radio.

Completely agree but i think its mainly down to that court case, so i'm hoping its just starting slow and hoping it'll be at least top 50 come tomorrow, and climbs as the weeks go on, hope so anyway, we'll see.

Leona's low airplay doesn't surprise me at all - there's still a significant stigma about having come through via XF.
September 10, 201113 yr Leona's low airplay doesn't surprise me at all - there's still a significant stigma about having come through via XF. I don't think Collide is very radio friendly. It takes forever to get going, and has no melodic charm to it whatsoever. That's why airplay is low. It's nothing to do with her coming from XF, otherwise Olly wouldn't be at number 1! Really amazed and pleased that Will is top 5 in airplay and rising, all without the help of radio 1 and capital. I hope it continues :) Edited September 10, 201113 yr by fatmuffin
September 11, 201113 yr Leona's low airplay doesn't surprise me at all - there's still a significant stigma about having come through via XF. There is stigma about coming from X Factor, I agree, but that doesn't stop songs from doing well on radio whatsoever. Jls, Alexandra, Olly, previous Leona releases, the list goes on. In fact, Leona being so successful opened the radio doors for the later X Factor acts. What's hampering the Leona track on radio this time is the court case and/or the song being substandard.
