OOoh she's on Lauren Laveres show after 11:00am today ;-)

Really? :o

Do you think she realises that it's almost akin to actually promoting something? :o

I love that in this era of desperate media whores, we have an artist like Kate Bush who simply refuses to take part, does everything completely on her own terms and lets her music do her talking.

The more I play 50 Words, the more I think the genius standout track is Snowed In At Wheeler Street. Could be Elton John's career-best vocal... And the underlying creepiness of it gives me goosebumps every time.

Snowflake, too, is a perfect album opener. Can music really conjure up feelings and images as vividly as this? What a talent to have....

50 Words For Snow is my album of the year.... and I'm pretty sure it's an album I'll play throughout my lifetime. I absolutely adore it.

The first time I heard Snowed In At Wheeler's St, I thought I was about to listen to her covering Poker Face.

 I know what you mean... I love that cello sound.... kind of ominous sounding, and one she's used before (Ninth Wave)....

One thing's for sure, she picked a terrible week to release this album - it's likely to be her lowest ever charting album, I reckon..... this week sees massive releases from Rihanna, err... Westlife, GaGa's remix CD and I'm sure there's something else, too..... :(

Shame it looks like it mightn't chart as high as I envisaged. Hmm, maybe it should have been released on a quieter week, like in the middle of August, lol.

Joking apart, when I went into a store on Monday, I didn't find it under the promotional new releases section.

Anyway, does chart position really matter? Most of the music I buy these days I suspect never sees the chart.

Oh, I'm going to get slaughtered for saying this but I was listening to Snowflake this morning and I thought it would be much more affecting if Tori sang it. Her voice, while clearly nothing compared to Kate's, would suit better and would have given it an edge that it lacks.

Ah, I think Snowflake is absolutely beautiful. Not lacking anything at all. The beauty if this album is the way she's underplayed her hand at every turn.... there's no histrionics, it's sleepy, creepy and just a stunning collection of songs.

If tori Amos had sung Snowflake, I think she'd have overdone it... I'm not sure she knows how to underplay anything...

Well the album went in at number 5. Behind One Direction and Westlife. Shocking... and her lowest placing for an album ever, I think...

It was a busy week and she still managed top five. It's impressive considering how lengthy her breaks are and the fact the top of the charts seem to be exclusive for utter shite and X Factor acts.

A very uninformed opinion, if I may say so. She's very capable at subtle nuances and low key performances. This isn't Florence we're talking about.

Even with my newfound appreciation of Tori, this is an album only Kate could really pull off ((sorry tori)), especially nowadays.

very true.... I'd really love to know what the actual sales of 50 Words were. Things are gearing up for Christmas, so number 5 isn't to be sniffed at, really, you're right.

that's not bad, is it? I'm not sure of what would count as good now, though, to be honest....?
I'm going for that as a pretty good sales figure, given the fairly large gap between albums, you'd expect interest to be lost, also she did literally no promo, and off the back of an unpromoted single. Putting it into perspective, The Saturdays had 2 top 10 singles and a further one just outside, quite a bit of airplay and only managed just over 18k. Plus Kate sold more than the albums that made number 5 for the past few weeks!
This album continues to SEEP GENTLY into my veins and leaves me in a BREATHLESS COO
