November 28, 201113 yr What a way to end the mid-season :o The last minutes were just powerful and full of emotion. Cannot wait to see what happens next.
November 28, 201113 yr I know :( 2.5 months  In the meantime, I'll be watching 'Kourtney & Kim Take New York' which oddly enough finishes when 'The Walking Dead' resumes in February 2012 :kink:
November 28, 201113 yr The last 5 minutes were seriously amazing. Shane's speech was so powerful. He's a man posessed. You could see how distraught Hershel was. And that very last shot was so beautiful. Infact the whole episode was very well paced and shot magnificentaly. I don't find waiting till February so hard considering I had to wait pretty much a year for the second series!
November 28, 201113 yr They don't make enough of the quality zombie/virus TV shows like this one. You have TONNES of crime dramas. I want this type of show to be the next crime dramas :( (The production cost is probably huge though :( ). About time zombie movies properly returned from the 80's. Gotta rewatch 28 Days Later in the meantime waiting for this series to return <3 Edited November 28, 201113 yr by ┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐

Gotta rewatch 28 Days Later in the meantime waiting for this series to return <3 They're very expensive to produce. You can tell they've been affected massively by the budget cuts (MAD MEN'S FAULT) because there has been a lot more scenes shot indoors instead of outdoors. Plus I don't think there budget increased at all and they had to produce 13 episodes instead of 6. Can't wait for them to go mental at Hershel for having a certain human being in the barn all along.
November 28, 201113 yr Yep, noticed the difference between Season 1 (with lots of exploding stuff, buildings and cars. EVEN A TANK) and Season 2 (where the most expensive thing was probably using that farm) cost-wise as well. I miss action scenes. :( CANCEL MAD MEN AND GET THE WALKING DEAD A FIVE SEASON RENEWAL. But what if he didn't know it was this particular person? :o

But what if he didn't know it was this particular person? :o Yeah it is odd the way The Walking Dead has been treated really. It doesn't get as much critical acclaim as Mad Me, but the ratings are on parr with it I believe. But the reason why Mad Men is such a success really is the attention to detail. I think he must have done really. Because the day said person went missing was the same day Rick stumbled on the farm. So she was either found before Carl was shot, or still while the group had reached the campsite. That was the only child in there, you would have thought if they had stumbled upon the appearance of said person they would have mentioned it! I imagine Hershel did not want the group knowing about the walkers in the barn, and he definitely wanted the group to move on because if they discovered Sophia, they would have discovered all of the walkers!
November 29, 201113 yr I just re-watched the episode. It's actually explained that Otis was the one who captured the walkers, not Hershel. And iirc I don't think Otis knew that Sophia had gone missing. Cos they were more worried about Carl getting shot. Seems to me like he picked her up before going out with Shane. I think Shane is going to be having a very guilty conciense for the rest of the season! It's been pretty much confirmed that either he or Merle will be THE GUVNOR, as the producers have said it's a character we've already met.
November 30, 201113 yr Just ordered series 1 for my Xmax present to myself! Kath Somehow I've managed to watch some episodes of series 2 (episode 5 springs instantly to mind as it was almost totally Daryl Dixon) but they've gone from youtube now! On the mid-series finale - am I the only one who 100% agrees with Shane (even though he's done some shitty things earlier? Not sure what I'm feeling about the possible Daryl/Carol love interest - I feel Daryl should get some action but I prefer their relationship to be loving/platonic rather than as possible lovers Edited November 30, 201113 yr by Kath
November 30, 201113 yr The mid-season finale was so well scripted and acted, that I agreed with Shane when he gave his great speech (I must say, if Jon Berthnal doesn't get an Emmy nod for this season then there is something seriously wrong!), but when he opened the barn and they all started shooting the walkers, I actually felt emotion FOR the walkers. Watching Maggie, Rick and Hershel's faces whilst they were executing the walkers was so beautifully shot. Shane is the anti-Rick. As for your spoilered point - I don't like it either. I can't see it lasting long though. More a plot device than anything because said character is going to go in to full-on meltdown mode now. I can't see her lasting the season.
December 1, 201113 yr I think Roo's quite right on Carol; I reckon they're going to take her down the same route as the comics, only with Daryl in the Tyreese role. That may also be why they've flipped the plot with Sophia - if Carol had committed suicide in the comics with her daughter still alive, there'd be a risk of it coming across as a selfish action rather than a tragic one. With Sophia dead in the TV series however, if they do go down that route, it not only provides more motivation, but it also means that they can do so whilst still remaining completely sympathetic to Carol. The fact that Melissa McBride is still only a "guest star" speaks volumes. I still love this series. It's not without it's weak points; I haven't found Carol's reaction to Sophia's disappearance convincing at all - beyond her lashing out at Rick, and THAT final scene, she barely seemed bothered. I remember a point in Episode 2 where the others decide to call it a day and continue the search for Sophia the following morning, and she just accepts it with a casual nod. There's also a lack of those proper, big set pieces - we haven't had anything quite like those moments in Series One (Rick riding on his horse into an army of hundreds of zombies, the tank, the Atlanta plague centre, etc.). I definitely see what others have already mentioned about the budget being more thinly spread. On the plus side, I'm glad they're fleshing out the characters beyond Rick. Shane has been amazing pretty much, Daryl's found a proper place amongst the cast, and even Lori is now a sympathetic character in her own right beyond the original plot device/love interest role.

I think her being killed off (Sophia) might be to do with the actress though. I'm not sure how old the actor who plays Carl is, but sooner or later they're going to have to do something about his age. They could just do a flashforward to 6 months, but in a zombie apocolypse, 6 months is a LONG time for survival. And I can't see them killing Carl off. Sophia dying really just show that NO-ONE is safe. Obviously it will be a huge plot device for the rest of the series too, because Rick is going to blame himself for her death. Shane will probably try and get people to leave the group, only to be kicked out.
December 2, 201113 yr OMG, just saw the mid season break episode, loved it especially at the end when the group went gung ho on the walkers. I felt sorry for Rick at the end of the episode when he had to pull the trigger.
December 2, 201113 yr I just love this show but for me the two most fleshed out and believable characters are Daryl and Shane - I'm not sure my interest would be as sustained if it wasn't for these two characters (and for the fabulous job both actors do). I do love the Herschel character (but Scott Wilson is a fabulous character actor - I've seen in him countless things over the years). The rest of them though do seem rather ordinary and don't really grab you. I'm hoping to see more of Merle in the future and see what sort of effect his return has on Daryl. Kath BTW - has anyone seen the action figures? They're bloody fabulous!
December 2, 201113 yr Just got to post this for anyone who is a fan of Norman/Daryl! http://ladygunn.com/love-life/ladygunn-mag...h-norman-reedus Kath
