I'm manaaging to see the second half of series 2 as my Sis-in-Law has FX. I have to admit I'm in a bit of a quandarry as to what to think of it. I'm disappointed in how they're writing Daryl (although the Olive Oyl comment was class - and the best line of the show). The writers just don't seem to know what to do with him. He's going from being one of the shows favourites to being well - a bit boring. Jon Bernthal is overacting like crazy (but I think the character's development - from an entertainment point of view - and how we're supposed to perceive the character - its necessary).

Sadly we all know that two of the main characters go this series - obviously

Shane

and

Dale - shot through the head - as referred to in the 'Sorry Brother' clip by Daryl (it is a mercy killing)

. According to previously reliable sources - a third character is going to go this second half of series 2. I'm thinking its

Beth - although I honestly don't consider her a main character

.

For me - I'm just hoping that they bring Daryl back on line and make him interesting again. Its a foregone conclusion that Daryl and Carol ARE going to make out (but not before series 3) - so I'm hoping the writers do it well!

I think Daryl will become interesting again, but only once they've left the farm. At the moment he's lost all hope. Something is obviously going to happen in regards to the farm very shortly. At the moment they're focusing entirely on Rick vs Shane.

Regarding the spoiler

it's obviously Shane was going to die, but Dale I'm a bit shocked about. But it would make sense, as the actor who played him was loyal to Frank Darabot. He might not of liked the way he was treated and wanted out, of the new showrunner may just have decided to get rid of him because of the connection between the two.

Well Daryl's not even in the next episode (next Friday - UK pace - 18 Mile Out) neither are Herschel, T Dog, Carol, Dale (and a few others) but according to Glenn Mazara - he does have some major action in the final three episodes of this series.

According to some spoilers I've seen

a THIRD major character gets killed off by the end of this series - but I suppose it depend on what the writers think of as 'major'

Episode 10 was fantastic.

I don't think I'm going to be able to watch it this Friday (Episode 10 airing in the UK on FX). I have to be somewhere else - normally go to a friend's to watch it. I have heard its good though. TBH - I can't see why the hell they didn't

just put a bullet through this Randall's head at the end of Triggerfinger

A bit stupid really the way they've been hanging on to him.

You should see the TWD board on IMDb - full of EdTrolls and people constantly saying how much crapper series 2 is compared to series 1. Personally - I agree the writing has been a bit slack (and some stupid decisions made) during this series - but I still love it.

The people that are pissed off with Season 2 are all the fanboys. They want to see zombie killing in every episode. In order for the show to sustain a long term future, that cannot happen. One it creates a very niche audience, and two people are likely to get bored. The show has been at a much slower pace this season, but there's 13 episodes compared to 6, what were people expecting!? Plus the budget was slashed. Hopefully now AMC see that they have a major hit on their hands, and will at least not decrease the budget. A lot of it depends on Mad Men though. It doesn't get the ratings Walking Dead gets, but it gets critical acclaim, and more importantly AMC don't produce it. I can't remember how many seasons Man Men was renewed for, but I don't think it will last past this season (or next season if it got a double renewal).

You need to see this weeks episode to understand why they didn't do away with Randall!

Probably on my own here but...I actually prefer season 2 to season 1... The first couple of episodes of season 1 were amazing but then I thought the rest of the season sort of trailed off. I'm enjoying this more now that it has become a proper character driven show.

I've liked them both, they're just different. I've grown to a lot more of the characters now (especially in the second half of this season). Like I said above, the reason the 2nd season is getting a lot of stick, is because they're not killing zombies ever episode. I just think to myself, if people want that go watch Dawn of the Dead. I'm pretty sure the comics are very character driven aswell.

I think I'm in this category too. I like both series (1 and 2) in equal measures. Although I HAVE to agree that spending the whole of the first part of series two on the search for a minor character WAS way over the top. THAT however is my only beef with series 2.

Again - I agree. Also - I think there is possibly a bit too much eulogising over series 1. As good as it was (with an almost major movie feel to the pilot) series 1 had its fair bits of filler.

WOW.

Lost for words tbh.

Dale

Twas sad indeed - but we all knew it was coming.

Am loving Daryl beginning to take a more central role now though - whilst still being an 'outsider'. I love the whole 'lone wolf' thing!

Yeah they really set it up the whole episode. Hope they spare Randall. I'm warming to him a little.

Carl's becoming interesting. The way he tortured the walker, before it startled him was quite chilling.

There's still something that doesn't sit well with me regarding Randall. I don't think I trust him - I think they should have executed him.

I find Carl just plain annoying (as annoying as his mother). I hope Daryl doesn't ever need to reach into his saddle-bag to find that gun at a crucial time!

I'd gather he is from the Governor's group. I don't trust him, but he's a good little character. When he was telling the story about his group raping those girls... was sinister! You just know The Governor will be their group's leader.

Btw big BIG spoiler here

there's an image going round of Shane ZOMBIFIED at the moment. People seem to think Rick will murder Shane, then Carl will kill the zombie Shane.

That episode was so, so good and it shows why 'The Walking Dead' is one of the greatest shows around at the moment. It knows how to captivate you and keep you hooked, without being too predictable.

Dale dying in this episode was obvious too. The fact he was a central character this week is what gave it away for me.

Still emotional stuff though, especially

the moment he had with Andrea

I've seen that image on the Spoiled Rotten site. It is true. From what I've read (and ALL spoilers from a certain source have so far been 100% correct) Rick stabs Shane - he comes back as a Zombie and Carl does indeed shoot him. Its just a shame that Shane can't take a little nibble at Carl before he finally goes!

As far as Carol is concerned too -

somehow in the last episode she gets stranded from the rest of the group, is surrounded by walkers on the way to making an appointment to visit Sofia - when Daryl rides up on his Harley and rescues her. Apparently they DO get it together in series 3

Kath

They really oughta add Melissa McBride to the main characters instead of recurring.

I know that she barely does anything in the show but considering she is in the 'group' she deserves to be in the main cast along with T-Dog

Carol's blatantly heading one a one way street to zombie-island once they do a love story with Daryl. I'm sorry, but I don't believe she is coping THAT well with the death of her daughter. Sooner or later (and probably later as everything at the moment is Rick vs Shane, and the other group of people) she's gonna have an absolute breakdown.

The last episode had a touch of LOST about it, the central focus of a character, and the irony of their feelings. They alluded to Darwinism a bit in this episode, and I think it will play a big part later on.

That was one hell of a good episode, one of the best of the entire series.

It was a good episode but I'm sad that Dale has been killed off.

They really ought to feed Carl to a zombie at some point - the little shit is getting on my nerves. He just HAS to be Shane's son - or he's been spending too much time with him. Hope Carl realises that it is he himself who is responsible for Dale's demise!

I hope Daryl finds out that he took his gun and gives him the good parental slapping that his parents should have given him!
