It's not the alleged 'very indieness', it's the fact it's 10 years old. It's been released before many people on BuzzJack had been born!

 

Aren't people not meant to judge the song by it's age/genre but rather by the quality of it..?

 

I havn't heard it yet, but if it's good whether if it's 10 years ago or recent, it should do decently.

Of course, but it does FEEL like it's 10 years old. Which obviously puts it into disadvantage as not many people like retro :heehee:

It depends on if it's a genuine discovery. It's like in the last contest 'Hollywood Hills' was entered but because it was a song I'd already known very well and even charted it, from my point of view it wasn't a discovery.

Sorry I have never been able to stomach Ben Folds at all and I can understand why it's not getting much of a response TBH.

In general I completely agree although it's more difficult than usual this month because I know 19/47 songs already, and at least 6 or 7 of those I really love, so it would be cruel to snub them over inferior tracks just because I already know them - hence I've voted a bit differently to usual this time. My votes for Semi 2 at least are a nice mix of songs that I already knew and new discoveries. Some songs were just too good to ignore! :lol:

Thanks for the replies guys, at least I've got some opinions on it. Personally it doesn't sound like it's from 2002 to me, but that because I've been listening to it for a few years (I first heard it on this IT video about cyber bullying).

True, not that 3 votes per semi is particularly represenative of anything! It's always funny towards the final stages when all of the votes are in and people are hyping something up as a certain top three and you can see that it's actually languishing in 18th :lol:

Leddra Chapman's album though finished 2nd in my EOY chart last year so I guess I'd consider that the best artist I've discovered via BJSC. In turn it also led me to discover Ed Sheeran last year too (seeing as they've collaborated/toured together a lot) so much love to FNT Nickodonia for sending Story!
