Gypsy shits over everything else on this album from a massive height. Should have been the comeback single and then maybe she could have had another career defining smash on her hands. Absolutely wonderful.

It's the "Edge of Glory" of the era clearly :lol: It's pretty fab but massively overrated.

I really think 'Sexxx Dreams' could be the best thing she's done since 'Bad Romance', although the alterations in the chorus are going to take some getting used to.

 

Of course, I've still got to listen to more of the album yet.

Not too impressed with the album as a whole after how polished/well constructed 'Born This Way' was. To me, it's just a slightly developed 'The Fame'.

 

'Do What U Want', 'Venus', 'Aura' and 'Sexxx Dreams' are the standout tracks so far. Not too happy with the studio version of 'Sexxx Dreams', I much preferred the live version.

Really loving 'Donatella' right now. The intro/opening verse & chorus are so fab.

That is both hilarious and delusional!

I've only had one or two listens so far, but first impressions are that whilst it IS a mixed bag of tracks, on the whole it is very good at what it sets out to be - a pop album (I am not claiming any of this 'ARTPOP' nonsense though.)

 

Perhaps a step down from 'Born This Way' (as 'BTW' was a step down from 'The Fame Monster') but I think it has a few very strong pop songs and it's reminded me, after the average 'Applause', just WHY she's one of my favourite artists.

 

As long as she continues producing a 'G.U.Y' for every 'Applause', I'm here for her.

Gypsy is really good too. Then erm, I like the singles? The rest is kinda shit.

This album is such a phenomemal grower. Even the songs destined to remain filler (MJH) are banging me quite hard atm. Sexxx Dreams is such a STONE groove. Not a single at all but very special nonetheless. "We're both convicted criminals of thought" might just be the best lyric on an otherwise lyrically dubious record. The middle 8 of GUY is quite astonishing (srs TFM teas) but it's over all too quickly. Aura needs a tv performance incorporating some of the iTunes perf choreo with a seriously blinged out Versace burqa. <3 I'm even frigging myself off to Jewels n Drugs lately. Utterly ridiculous and quite amazing in its complete barrel scraping genius. Mother Trollster has to be in on the joke.

The only track i'm majorly meh on is 'Fashion!' the 10 second instrumental that opens it is divine but it just descends into nothingness. 'G.U.Y.' is genius, lyrically and musically - the NEIN ZEDD at the end is one of the big album highlights (whatever it even means) :wub:

 

With clever single choices this could be a massive era for her. Either way i'm very excited..

Sexx Dreams, Jewels and Drugs, Swine, Gypsy (for sure) are the best songs aside from the two singles, with clever single choices, Haus is right, it could be huge.

Jewels and Drugs is the only one I really can't get into atm... It's just hideous imo.

 

Gypsy, Do What U Want, Applause, Dope, Swine and G.U.Y. are my highlights right now <3

'Jewels + Drugs' is by far the worst thing on here, I honestly have no idea what she was thinking.

 

Given how stupid her team can be at times I fully expect it to be a single at some point. :rolleyes:
