Would you care to point me to where the host's discretion is being invoked here, Phil?

It has always been up to the host if they want to accept votes cast after the deadline or not.

I have confirmation that all votes cast have been accepted. Whether you will have a penalty and how big that is if there is to be one I don't know yet. I know Martyn isn't keen to dish the same penalty to non-voters and late voters though if he does decide to give a penalty.

Oh and actually Tyron, had this been my contest or had I been forcing my opinion onto Martyn, your votes would be rejected, your overrated overproduced entry would have a 33% reduction slapped on it and you'd lost your 100% participation. So be thankful I am actively encouraging Martyn to decide what he wants to do without our influence as we will back whatever choice he makes, even if we have been championing the opposite all night.

Just so late voters don't feel so bad, SIX countries haven't voted at all...

DRAMA!

I just want to see the results tomorrow as it feels like forever since participating in this contest due to the forums being down for a while. Whatever Martyn does, i'm sure it would be the right choice. Although i'll miss parts of it, i'll join in midway to see how everyone is doing :D

6 or 7? :P

It'd be nice to know who so we can ban them from the next contest :kink:

Shall I inbox you or post it in hear just incase I've some how missed their message (which I doubt)

Just post in here.

And Phil as for the "6 or 7" what I gather is 7 people voted after the deadline and a further 6 haven't at all.

Martyn orignally said 7 in a PM, hence the question.

I Mis-read something on the doucment.

Anyway the countries that have not communicated their votes to Farahtyn are:

Aquafina

Fanadminaj

N-Lazone

Persephonia

PRoJ

Xanaga

Edited by Martyn

All but one of them did not qualify to the finals as well...

Shame Fanadminaj didn't vote as I liked their entry :(

Well it's brilliant to know that someone who doesn't let personal feelings come into their judgements and sees the benefits of pragmatism when it comes to an online music game is deciding then, isn't it? :D

Anyway some of us have to go to work in the morning. So I am going to bed.

I honnestly haven't completly decided what I am going to do yet, but it isn't something that is going to get resolved now. Obviously the non voting country in the final will get a 33% deduction. Outside of that I don't know from the PM's I've got I do believe there was alot of misunderstanding of when the deadline actualy was. However the thread has been open for over a week...

Martyn I really think you should decide BEFORE you look at / compile the votes so that the result doesn't influence you in some way.

And "it's not going to get resolved now" is a bit of a strange thing to say as it could get resolved right now simply by you just making a decision. You don't need any more information in order to do this.

Fiiiiine. I am unsure what mods wish to do with the semi-finalists who votes late. As I don't think it fair for those in the final to recieve a punishment but those who didn't qualify to not recieve one. So I am sure how that work logisticly.

6 countries didn't vote at all? How much more time did they need exactly?

Anyway, I'm intrigued to see what will happen today. As Liam said earlier, it's easy to see everyone's point of view here and I agree with bits of all of them - I agree with Dandy*, Oricon and Cal in the regard that it's been open for AGES, it's unfair on those that have been punished in the last few months for people not to go penalised now and that the deadline was clear to see in the opening post for 8 or 9 days, regardless of whether you agreed with the reasoning for it being at 11am or not.

However, I also agree with Tyron and Robot for two reasons. The first that I've often accepted late votes non-penalised when I've hosted (although admittedly ALWAYS when I've been warned that they'd be late) and I can see why they feel like they're being made an example of and secondly because Kopecka were probably about to storm to victory and with a deduction we have the very realistic possibility of seeing a default winner this month. But that's just circumstance I suppose, we only haven't had one of those before because no late voter/non-voter was ever in a position to win before.

But yeah, in true BJSC style I'm sitting on the fence here because I can see and appreciate both points of view equally. This will go one of two ways though. From next month people will either start voting earlier or more likely there'll be a mass walkout in protest and the next contest will be comparatively tiny, whether we get those people back afterwards is anybody's guess.

Bray not voting SHOCKAH. And NICK could've voted 27 times already since we all saw him posting here before 11pm. :|

I though the mods DID express what they felt about this and what they thought would be right.

I'd personally ban the 6 DNQ people who didn't vote at all (with Nick obviously getting a 33% deduction) and deduct 33% (or perhaps like 20%) from those who couldn't read properly.

Right I am doing this on my phone before I go to work.

After being locked in a room all night the idepensent Farahtyn delegation have decedided that. Each late voting finaliast will = a 1% deduction. So if 4 of the 29 finalists voted late it will be a 4% deduction.

This is all. As otherwise the final results will probably end up being unrepresenative of what people want.

That sounds like an interesting compromise, certainly one which won't affect the results too much - a song scoring 200 points would now score 192 points, no big deal really and I still definitely see this as Kopecka's to lose because I think they'll have enough of a winning margin anyway.

Interesting. Although I wouldn't mind a bigger number though as my bloodlust level is high this week :D

You have to wonder if people that have been deducted 33% in a final in the past for missing the deadline will kick up a fuss now

The joys of hosting BJSC!
