October 5, 201113 yr So glad she's got an award for this, she's handled it so brilliantly and is a great inspiration to woman with breast cancer! :)
October 5, 201113 yr This is brilliant! I wish she'd have receieved the doctorate at the Cambridge campus (where I am) instead of Chelmsford though, I could have stalked her again. :( :P
October 5, 201113 yr Author It is well deserved and im sure Kylie would be more proud of this than many things she has done elsewhere in her career.
October 6, 201113 yr http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/entertain...or-cancer-work/ Kylie Minogue suspects her phone may have been hacked while she was suffering from breast cancer. Speaking after she received an honorary doctorate from Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford, England, the Australian singer spoke of the challenges of fighting the disease while in the spotlight. She said being in the public eye had been a "blessing" because of the support she received but a "curse" because of occasional media intrusion. Asked if her phone had been hacked, she added: "It may have been." She did not comment further on her suspicions but said: "Cancer is like going into war and you have to draw on everything you’ve got to fight it. "Fighting the disease in the spotlight was both a blessing and a curse. "A curse because of the constant attention and the press sometimes wanting more information than you want to give, but a blessing because of the love and support I received from complete strangers." The singer was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and underwent surgery and chemotherapy to beat the disease. Minogue received an honorary Doctor of Health Sciences on Wednesday night for her work to promote cancer awareness. Wearing a traditional doctoral cap and gown over trousers, she spoke to about 220 graduates from the faculty of education. She said: "When you are diagnosed yourself it becomes a lot more real and you appreciate at first hand the hard work that goes on to support patients through it."
