It was refreshing to have an interesting chart battle and it could've gone either way. I'm sure everyone at Radio 1 were grinning from ear to ear when they discovered Rihanna had outsold Maroon 5. It's really unfortunate that 'Moves Like Jagger' has been stuck at #2 behind six different UK #1 singles - most of which will be forgotton about and 'MLJ' might still be inside the top 10. :lol: However, I'm personally happy that Rihanna made to #1 because 'We Found Love' will hopefully put an end of the abysmal run of one week wonders we've been having. 03 (02) Gotye feat. I'm thinking #6-10 but it could do better... Oh, I hadn't seen the new Aussie singles chart although I'd noticed Kelly Clarkson had been no. 1 in Australia's iTunes. It's difficult to call because Kelly made no. 1 with 'My Life Would Suck Without You' but only needed to sell something like 49k to get there. I have a gut feeling Kelly will perform on The X Factor which will really help promote the single. It's not that bad - the only thing that irritates me about 'Mr Know It All' is how much it's been influenced by 'Just The Way You Are' by Bruno Mars. I wish the producers could've been a little bit more original with the backing track. 15 (--) Marina & The Diamonds - Radioactive (15) [1 wk] I still think that Hollywood is her best, wonderful pop song :wub: Well 'Hollywood' is Marina's biggest hit in my chart having peaked at #2 in early 2010. Well, it's no. 16 which is good considering there's a lot of long stayers within the top 10 I've loved so much there was no way I was letting them slip down fast. Even 'What The Water Gave Me' is continuing to do well despite this week slipping to #27. When I wrote my chart up on Saturday, I was still unsure whether 'We Found Love' was going to sell enough to grab the UK #1 spot. It entered my chart at #1 because I think it's a brilliant track. As for Calvin Harris, this more than makes up for his two lukewarm singles he's released this year. 'Only Girl (In The World)' went straight into my chart at #1 where it stayed for 5 weeks. I can't say for sure that this will still be #1 in five weeks time but it's definitely most likely to spend a second at #1 here. 11 (--) Avicii - Fade Into Darkness (11) [1 wk] - I have to keep comparing this to Collide, and I don't want to. I like all 4 of your new entries this time The tell tale signs that this wasn't going to be a big hit were proved two weeks ago where I work. During the lunch hour one of the salespeople put Radio 1 on. They were playing 'Give Me Everything' by Pitbull and everyone was laughing and joking, taking the piss out of the song in a joking way. Then 'Radioactive' came on and I've never known a group of salespeople to go so quiet upon hearing a song. Yet that's what happened - they must've been thinking "wtf is this" hence the volume levels dropping within seconds of Marina's vocals starting in this song. Even for me, I find this good but also disappointing because she's released better singles in the past. Brilliant chart, Hits! Almost everything (except for a couple which I still haven't heard :drama:) What a brilliant compliment. :D
