Just something so that it isn't spam. I wouldn't mind hearing your own opinion on each song, it isn't so hard to type a sentence on what each song means to you.

 

And while I don't mind seeing what is in the lower end, couldn't you have put 201-1000 in a list, and then done your best to make the top 200 look great?

At least this post is constructive critisism which I accept. Maybe I could have down it different. Sadly I didnt.

 

What I will do then is from the 250 mark I will start posting my opinion on the song.

Why ? Why would anyone care what I think of a song.

 

You dont hear Reggie on todays chart giving his opinion on every song in the chart. Its not needed.

 

People want to see the results. Not what I think of each song. Simpel as that.

It's more likely to provoke discussion.

 

I always thought that these Top 100000000000000 countdowns with one song per post are so unnecessary. 10-20 songs per post in the early stages would suffice really.

Not that im aware of. Its very rare I get involved in rates or boot and immunes. I find them very boring, so no idea sorry.

I don't really see why there's any problem with Danny's countdown. So what if it's spread over 1000 posts, in what world does it matter whether it's spread over 100 or 1,000. For those interested (such as myself) the way it's been done is really good, so there are minimal YouTube links stretching a single page and more focus is given to each song. Yeah, there might not be a great deal of discussion created but I don't see what else would be done to create discussion. Posting your opinion on 1000 songs is far too boring, both for the person doing it and anyone reading it, and posting facts for all songs, especially those lower down is far too time consuming for something which already takes a lot of effort. The 1000 songs is good too, it's already reminded me of over a dozen songs I need to download and some of it is really quite surprising. If you have no interest in something, why bother commenting, especially when A) it's not really spam in the first place and B) coming from some of those criticising - REALLY?!

I concur, most of you just went here and started attacking Dannyboy for no big reason. I must admit, those 'What do you think of the song, should it be higher? Lower" annoy me a bit too, but that's not a big deal, the information and some hidden gems in the countdown make it up massively.

 

I like that we have the youtube video for every song in the top-1000, and indeed, imagine if we had about 10-20 YT videos in a post with 20 posts per page?! That makes 200-400 videos, the thread will be a car crash after this. Even powerful computers and browsers won't manage to keep it all together. Besides, it's much more comfortable to quote the song / video without cutting anything.

 

I like the idea of top-1000 of songs, as it gives a wider information for interested artists.

 

And finally, don't forget that Dannyboy has been compiling the chart by himself. He bought every edition of ChartPlus since 2002 (!) and then added figures for EVERY song in the airplay top-100. Behind every "spammy" post in these two threads lies a hard work and even money. You may not appreciate how it's all done but let's just have some respect for this.

 

It's very simple to see this thread and write criticising "OMG OMG OMG 768 posts, he's such a spammy pointless geek, now put him into shame and kill any effort for the rest of his forum existence", but let's 1. be friendlier; 2. look at the things deeper; 3. don't bandwagon in attacking anyone, especially when it's not a big deal.

 

Honestly, I expected saner behaviour from some of you. Thank you for attention.
