I close my eyes thinking of you

It's been TOO LONG since we went full on reductive, trend chasing in the name of a hit, so here we are presenting the ultimate in trend chasing, PC Music. It's now been suitably saturated that I like it enough to send, so enjoy this hot slice of pop as much as I do (in all honesty I am utterly obsessed with it).

I was actually considering a different Knocks song ("Trouble" as opposed to "Classic", and the LIONE remix of the former so it would have been a self-recycle :P). Definitely the most iconic out of their discography so good luck with this!

Getting good vibes from this. The vocalist reminds me a bit of Dua Lipa or is it just me?

THE ONLY ONE, apparently. I'll be a little sad/disappointed if this doesn't do well, I love it.

Altyr desperately pleads ''PLEASE...like us again'' with their 75th entry

Representing Altyr in our 75th contest, in what has been our very own ANNUS HORRIBILIS, is Samantha Harvey and her delightful pop DITTY, Please.

Coming off the back of our first hit of the year the pressure is on to prove Altyr still have it. This song was carefully chosen from a shortlist of not at all desperate pop sluts paid exorbitant fees to represent a formerly successful nation now down on their luck.

Be kind. Be generous. Give (points) this September xox

“I’d do anything for you”

Many moons ago, before many of the nations currently competing were even formed, Frida Sundemo came to win and so she did. And now Altyr have sent her and she is getting visions of Charlotte Perrelli circa 2012 and SHE. DOES. NOT. LIKE. IT.

On a serious note this enchanting slice of Scandi-electro-pop is sadly not commonplace anymore but really should be. It’s got a glorious build into a SULTRY chorus and layered fade out keeping you wanting more.

I think this also acts as a nice representation of where Altyr are at in our 10th decade in the contest. Cheap but it hits the spot.

So let's give 'em one hell of a story

Altyr Muunilinst have this month turned to our very own Carmen Sandiego - Anna Bergendahl - to represent us with her her latest Geena Davis inspired single, Thelma and Louise.

Once among the most feared names in Darpabrak thanks to her QUESTIONABLE 2010 Eurovision entry, Anna has finally found a niche that works for her and like all the best she is working it until it's BONE DRY.

Country tinged pop has already seen Twinnie claim 4th place for us this year, can Anna see us reach a record equalling 5th top 10 in a year?

Enjoy.

Thank you to all of those who voted for Anna, helping us along to our record equalling 5th top 10 of the year (and our 6th sixth place finish in BJSC)! A great final all round with 20 song in contention for points and all ranked at 7/10 or above by our national jury. Only a handful of absolute horrors this month too.

I licked it so it’s mine

Following on from another top 10 last month, we had planned to send One Touch by Julie Bergan but we’re cruelly denied it through the tyranny of Bre and his eternal desire to veto Altyr.

In the end we have found another Scandi-BOP in the form of Finders Keepers by newcomer EHLE. A quirkier entry than our recent fare, but just as catchy.

Hell Yes, We're Betting on GRANT

Keeping things Swedish for the 5th month in a row, this month we have tapped relative newcomer GRANT and her gorgeous part trip-hop, part 90's rave, party pop stomper Hell Yes, I'm Betting On You.

The video is also rather GORGE.

I think I'm falling for you...

Following on from GRANT providing us with our record breaking 6th top 10 and 5th top 5 result of the year, the AMSC have ventured beyond Sweden for the first time since Austra. Not too far though, having hopped on a train across the Øresund bridge and landed in neighbouring Denmark. BEN & TAN are the shouldhavebeenbutweren'tbecauseofCOVID Eurovision entrants this year, but have to make do with rounding off an amazing 2020 for Altyr Muunilinst in BJSC instead.

Hallelujah (Christmas On My Lips) is also the first festive, and indeed 'seasonal', track we have ever sent in 98 contests. With a sound not dissimilar to previous winners Smith & Thell and our own Anna Bergendahl, this is another slice of instant pop JOY. Can this bag us our 7th top 10 of the year and help propel Altyr to the Year End #1 spot for the first time?

Dance for the 100th of it

10 years. 100 entires.

Once again we have returned to the deep well of Swedish pop to celebrate our 100th entry. Not the only nation to try and secure LOVA this month, we got there first and fought off competition from Ramrynia and St Burbia. In her first foray into BJSC, LOVA brings a strong pop sensibility and an infectious melody to the competition. The AMSC have chosen this as it feels like a good representation of our 10 years in the contest, we hope you love it as much as we do.

Victory for LOVA

LOVA has stormed to victory bringing us our fourth win on our 100th entry! It was a closely fought contest with several other songs in contention, but LOVA managed to sneak ahead on the last few votes securing victory. Thank you to everyone who voted for us and made this an anniversary to remember, unlike poor old Jess Mills who cruelly DNQ'd for us 5 years ago at our 50th.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Darpabrak for the second time in less than 10 contests next month! Last time we hosted it was a very strong final, so expectations are high for this one too.

If you're feeling low, I'll come and lift you up

Following on from our victory last month, the AMSC have tapped up and comer Rose Gray to represent us on home soil with the 90's inspired 'Save Your Tears'. A bit of a departure from the tried and tested Scandi sound we have been relying on for most of the last year, this anthem to what once was and what will hopefully be soon enough feels timely and we hope you love it as much as we do.

Greetings Altyr Muunilinst! :hi:

This entry is lovely, a real airy piece of pop, and very uplifting I found on listening just now. Glad it is an AQ so I can see it comfortably in the final! :cheer:

We have once again returned to Scandinavia this month and fresh off representing Cor Lupus in BJSC132, Erika Vikman is back, back, back. Dripping with 80's influences, Hapea (Shame) is an absolute BOP with a killer chorus, instantly memorable melody and a fabulous (and fabulously weird) video to boot. Will the Buzzjack masses finally refuse our cheapness, or will this be our 21st consecutive qualifier?
