1) Mylo Xyloto is Coldplay’s 5th No.1 Album in a row (Ignoring a couple of non-conventional releases).

ED SHEERAN - THE A TEAM - A RARE CHART FEAT

THE A TEAM

It is only the 11h Single to enter in the Top 20, & to spend 20, (or more), consecutive Weeks, inside the Top 20.

Indeed, only 15 Singles have managed 19, (or more), Top 20 Weeks, in a row, after entering the Charts inside

the Top 20. The Ed Sheeran Hit is also only the 3rd such Hit to achieve it, without reaching No.1. The other 2

were Hound Dog, by Elvis Presley, (No.2 in 1956 - 22 Top 20 Weeks in a row), & Love Letters In The Sand,

by Pat Boone, (No.2, in 1957 - 21 Top 20 Weeks in a row). So, The A Team, is the first non-No.1 to achieve the

feat since 1957.….

THE LONGEST RUNNING TOP 20 HITS - THAT ENTERED IN THE TOP 20

(With 19 - or more - Consecutive Top 20 Weeks)

(I'm only counting from April 1956, when 'NME' expanded its Charts to a Top 30)

NOTES

A) There were none at all in the previous Decade - Bad Romance, (Lady GaGa), managed 18 Weeks, but they

were split, (8-2009/10-2010), between the 2 Decades - and she was 1 Week short, anyhow.

B) There were also none in the 1970's & 1980's.

C) Had I started in November 1952, then the List would be a lot longer than 15 Hits. With a lot more 1950’s Hits

qualifying to be added. This is because every Hit starts its Chart Run in the Top 20, if there is only a Top 10,

Top 12, or Top 20, to Chart in.....And many big 1950’s Hits, tended to stay in the Top 10 etc. for quite a while.

The Prodigy have broken their #1 album streak - unless you count 'World's On Fire (Live)' as a 'non-conventional' release.

Thanks for posting these stats BTW :D

In that sense Coldplay's streak had been broken years ago with their live album so I guess it's fair not to include Prodigy's live album either.

Edited by SKOB

No - I made a mistake. 'World's On Fire' - the May 2011 No.5 Live Album, by The Prodigy

- definitely broke their Run of consecutive No.1 Albums.....(I've now indicated that their

consecutive Run is over, in my earlier Post).
