November 8, 201113 yr It's true about S&M, but Britney is credited on the week that it got #1, so it does count for her (as strange as it may seem ). I think Maroon 5's song features Christina Aguilera, so it does count as a hit for her. She has one of the biggest pop songs of the year credited to her. And to be honest, when it comes to Christina, it's very awkward for a lot of people what's happened with Moves Like Jagger, when they were "celebrating" just months before that about how her career was "over", so obviously people will do whatever possible to decredit any success Christina has. She'll have a big era next year, and the same will happen tbh, even if she's the lead artist.
November 8, 201113 yr S&M counts for me because it going to #1 was entirely due to Britney being on it . It would have stalled at #2 without the rihmix.
November 8, 201113 yr Sorry but the worst of all these credits is Lauren Bennett. She literally sings 11 words which are then played back several times over the course of 30 seconds. THAT'S IT.

I wouldn't expect an 'era' from Christina anytime soon, she averages about every 4 years between albums and that'll be too late to ride the wave of 'Moves Like Jagger'...
November 9, 201113 yr S&M counts for me because it going to #1 was entirely due to Britney being on it . It would have stalled at #2 without the rihmix. We don't know that for sure. Butterfly effect and whatnot. The Britney version was not promoted at all, maybe apart from about one week. The correct single version is the solo version, so I don't think it should count as a #1 for Britney - arguably Missy Elliott is the only reason Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) got to #1, so do you count that as a #1 for her? Moves Like Jagger is a #1 for Christina but her part on it is extremely insignificant. Same for Lauren Bennett with Party Rock Anthem.

I think we do know that for sure. Britney's version may not have been promoted but it's the version that went #1. If (somehow) a remix of a song got to #1, would you say the original version of that song was the #1 or the remix? I think the S&M rihmix is similar. I don't count S&M as one of Britney's *proper* #1's but I do count it as a featured #1. She was right there on the hot 100 for the week at #1. I don't know about Missy, I haven't thought about that. But LFN did get to #1 the week after anyway.

We don't have any idea how events would have unfolded in an alternate universe where the Britney remix was never done, so we don't know it for sure :P Regarding remixes going to #1, I would still say the original was the 'version' that reached #1 with the exception of when the remix is the single version (as with E.T.) The thing that pisses me off is that, had the Britney remix sold just a bit under half of S&M's total in the week it got to #1, the song would still be #1 (arguably) entirely because of Britney, yet she wouldn't be credited with it as a #1. Billboard should be consistent with these things and the easiest way for them to be consistent IMO is to just keep it credited as the MAIN version (which was the original even in the week where the remix was selling more). November 9, 201113 yr I wouldn't expect an 'era' from Christina anytime soon, she averages about every 4 years between albums and that'll be too late to ride the wave of 'Moves Like Jagger'... I heard Christina is currently making an album, due out in 2012 (and last I read she's going to release the first single in the Spring). I do think that'll be too late to cash in on the success of Moves Like Jagger though, unfortunately. But I still think she'll be big next era. She's working with many fantastic producers.
November 9, 201113 yr I don't think she'd be able to cash in on MLJ's success at all. Seriously, who listens to MLJ for Christina's pointless part?
November 9, 201113 yr I don't think she'd be able to cash in on MLJ's success at all. Seriously, who listens to MLJ for Christina's pointless part? I think she could've done. Lots of artists gain popularity from songs they feature on. Even artists that don't sing on the track that they're credited on at all can get more popular from them.
