November 6, 201113 yr Author http://australian-charts.com/forum.asp Gavin Ryan's Chartifacts (Thanks to Gavin Ryan) Singles “Sexy and I Know” it holds for a fourth week at No.1 for LMFAO, who are back here in Australia at the end of the month for their performances at the Stereosonic Music Festival around the country. And LMFAO's four weeks at No.1 has kept Rihanna's "We Found Love" at No.2 for those four weeks, whilst the now longest running No.2 single in Australian chart history is at No.3 for a second week, Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera's "Moves Like Jagger", which is now spending its seventeenth weeks inside the Top 10 and fifteenth inside the Top 5. Flo Rida jumps up four places to No.4 with his latest single "Good Feeling", which is his first Top 5 hit in over a year, as back in August 2010, he hit No.3 with "Club Can't Handle Me". Flo's jump pushes the Gym Class Heroes track "Stereo Hearts" down one place to No.5 after four weeks at No.4, and also dropping back a place, to No.6, is Gotye with "Somebody That I Used to Know". Possibly thanks to a great X-Factor performance by Andrew of David Guetta and Sia's track "Titanium", it jumps back up two places to No.7, pushing last weeks Top 10 entry of "Pumped up Kicks" for Foster the People down one spot to No.8. Kelly Clarkson takes a tumble of three places to No.9 with "Mr. Know it All", and scoring his second solo and third Top 10 appearance is Calvin Harris who is up one place to No.10 with "Feel So Close", taking ten weeks like "Bounce" did to reach the Top 10. New Peaks & Movers: David Guetta and Usher might go back into the Top 10 next week with their track "Without You", as its back up to No.11 this week (it originally spent three weeks at No.10 in mid-September). Ed Sheeran is up two places to a new peak of No.13 with "The A Team", and Coldplay and Beyonce are up one place each to No.17 and No.20 with "Paradise" and "Love on Top" respectively. Leaping thirty-five places to No.32 is Lloyd, Andre 3000 and Lil' Wayne with Lloyd's new track "Dedication to My Ex (miss that…)". Florence + the Machine leap eighteen places to No.36 with "Shake it Out"; whilst their previous single "What the Water Gave Me" is back in at No.53, helped by their new albums high entry this week. Local DJ Havana Brown appeared on The X-Factor this past Tuesday, and that performance has helped her two singles to leap this week, with current track "Get it" back up eighteen places to No.39 (one place lower than it's former peak of No.38), and her first single "We Run the Night" comes back in at No.66. The highest new entry of the week comes from UK boy band One Direction and their debut single "What Makes You Beautiful" coming in at No.15. The five piece band came third in 2010’s UK edition of the X-Factor competition, and their debut album "Up All Night" is due at the end of November. Jessica Mauboy scores her eleventh ARIA Top 100 Singles Chart entry this week by debuting at No.28 with "Galaxy", featuring another Australian Idol performer, Stan Walker. This track is taken from the re-packaged edition of Jess's album "Get 'em Girls" (TW-88). And Stan also enters the charts at No.45 with his new single "Light it Up", featuring local rapper and DJ Static Revenger. Lower 50: 360 jumps up thirty-four places to a new peak of No.64 with "Boys Like Us", and right behind him at No.65 is OneRepublic and B.o.B with "Good Life", a new peak for that track also. The Wanted jump twenty places to No.79 with their second single "Lightning", and Lana Del Rey is up nine places to a new peak of No.80. The sixth best DJ in the world for 2011 Tim Bergling debuts at No.51 under one of his many names, Avicii. The song "Levels" samples "Something's Got a Hold on Me", originally performed by Etta James, which is also featured in Flo Rida's current No.4 single "Good Feeling". Tim has been on our chart before, in March of this year he hit No.32 with "Seek Bromance" under the shortened name of Tim Berg. Marvin Priest scores his third chart entry, debuting at No.60 with "Feel the Love" and featuring this time as guest vocalist Fatman Scoop. New at No.62 is the second chart hit for Christina Perri, as she enters this week with "A Thousand Years", taken from the forthcoming “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” soundtrack, and right behind at No.63 is Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa and Bruno Mars together on Snoop's new track "Young, Wild and Free", also taken from a movie, this one being “Mac and Devin Go to High School”. Pitbull scores a fourth chart hit from his current album "Planet Pit" (TW-59) by debuting at No.73 with "International Love" featuring guest vocals from Chris Brown. These Kids Wear Crowns land a second ARIA Singles Chart entry by debuting at No.82 with their version of the Whitney Houston 1987 No.1 single "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)". And US rapper Qwote lands his first chart entry at No.84 with "Throw Your Hands Up", featuring the ever popular Pitbull as guest vocalist. Albums One UK group gives way to another at No.1 on the ARIA Albums Chart this week, as Florence + the Machine debut at the top with their second album "Ceremonials". This also helps the two songs lifted from the album so far into the Top 60, with first single "What the Water Gave Me" back in at No.53, and second single "Shake it Up" jumping up to No.36, plus it helps their first album "Lungs/Between Two Lungs" (HP-3, peaked August 2010) to leap twenty places to No.32. “Ceremonials” is the 635th No.1 album in Australia (1965 to 2011), and the 17th for the Island Record label, also their first for this decade, as Pearl Jam’s “Backspacer” (28-Sep-2009) was the last Island act to hit No.1. It’s only the second time that the word ‘Ceremony’ has appeared in a No.1 album, the other being September 2000’s “Music from the Opening Ceremony of the 27th Olympiad Games”. Florence + the Machine are the 34th English Group to hit No.1 here in Australia, and the 62nd English Act, with the 127th English performed No.1 album. So a third (of the four) Coldplay albums stays for a single week at No.1 here in Australia, as their new set "Mylo Xyloto" drops down a place to No.2, pushing the long running No.1 album "21" for Adele also down one place, to No.3 this week. Cold Chisel's "All for You" is down one to No.5, and falling four places to No.7 is Kelly Clarkson debut from last week; "Stronger". Rounding out the Top 10 are Tony Bennett's "Duets II" at No.8, LMFAO's "Sorry for Party Rocking" at No.9 and Gotye's "Making Mirrors" at No.10, down five places from last week, but with the albums new single "I Feel Better" going to radio this past week, it shouldn't fall far next week (if at all). Two more Top 10 debuts this week, and both are Christmas albums from high profile artists. First up coming in at No.4, is Michael Buble's "Christmas", and for only his second album, Justin Bieber debuts at No.6 with "Under the Mistletoe", which has already secured two singles chart entries, "Mistletoe" (HP-20, TW-35, Oct 2011) and "The Christmas Song" (HP-58, drops out the T100 from that position this week). Movers & New Peaks: Aloe Blacc’s recent promo tour keeps paying off for his album “Good Things”, which rises again this week, up seven places to No.27. Rihanna’s “Loud” jumps back up twenty-two places to No.36, ahead of her new album “Talk That Talk” which is due in November 18th. And jumping up thirty-one places to No.40 on its one-year anniversary is Bon Jovi’s “Greatest Hits” collection. Megadeth score their tenth album chart entry with their thirteenth album doubly is entitled “Th1rt3en” and it enters the ARIA Albums chart at No.13. This is the group’s fourth Top 20 entry, and their entire ARIA Chart history is listed below… Entry Date No HP WI/Tally Acc Titles 28-Oct-90 A4 47 7 RUST IN PEACE 17-Feb-91 A4 76 4 / 11 RUST IN PEACE ® 19-Jul-92 A5 14 14 ● COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION 13-Nov-94 A6 9 10 YOUTHANASIA 22-Jun-97 A7 43 5 CRYPTIC WRITINGS 21-May-01 A9 72 1 WORLD NEEDS A HERO 11-Oct-04 A10 57 1 THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED 21-May-07 A11 23 5 UNITED ABOMINATIONS 21-Sep-09 A12 11 1 ENDGAME 15-Nov-10 L4 71 1 THE BIG FOUR: LIVE FROM SOFIA, BULGARIA 7-Nov-11 A13 13 1* THIRTE3N The two albums of Tim & Neil Finn songs, “She Will Have Her Way” (HP-2, Oct 2005) and “He Will Have His Way” (HP-5, Nov 2010) have been combined into the collection “They Will Have Their Way”, which this week debuts at No.31. Another collaboration debuts at No.33, Lou Reed and Metallica have teamed up for their album “Lulu”, a concept album based around two plays by German playwright Frank Wedekind, with Lou reciting lyrics over a Metallica music bed. Lower 50: Jinja Safari debut at No.53 with “Locked by Land”, the 21st anniversary edition of U2’s “Achtung Baby” is back in at No.58, Peter Gabriel lands at No.64 with “New Blood”, his ninth studio album, and Andre Rieu is back in the album charts at No.77 with “And the Waltz Goes On”.
November 8, 201113 yr How did One Direction manage to debut in the top 20? Have they appeared on the X Factor or something?
November 8, 201113 yr I was very surprised myself, considering a lot of British artists (much less teen artists) don't do well in Australia. Glad to see Ed Sheeran doing so well over there. Latest iTunes Oz chart has the single at 4 and the album at 9... so should be making another jump coming Sunday.
November 8, 201113 yr SuBo's also promoting heavily in Australia this week appearing on both X Factor and the DWTS (or SYTYCD, whatever...the dancing show) this week so she might have a mighty debut on the ARIA charts next week. Can we see a top 4 album charts with Brits?
