November 13, 201113 yr I think she'll clear 100k easily - it's just whether or not One Direction beat her to the #1 spot. It's not a certainty that 1D will debut at #1, Robbie Williams beat JLS to #1 in 2010 with their second studio album, so Rihanna (who's onto album #6) could find herself with the better sales - remember that she has two versions out, which may give a slight advantage.
November 13, 201113 yr she hasn't had big openings before. her last album opened with 91k. But it sold well, thus she probably will do better. around 120k first week

I thought that JLS beat Robbie? By a close margin? JLS and Robbie both had sales over 200K as a result of the 'battle' so could see that happening again with Rihanna and One Direction. I've got a sneaking suspicion that Rihanna might beat them actually. I wonder what the odds are on none of last year's X Factor lot achieving a number 1 album? Edit: It was Take That that beat JLS's second album in 2010 JLS debut album beat Robbie Williams's in 2009. Edited November 13, 201113 yr by PurpleNurples
November 13, 201113 yr She did 91K last year with a release FURTHER from Christmas than this one. She came from an that sold 650K and NO X FACTOR until later than the release. This time: - #1 hit for 4 weeks (so far) and selling much faster than OG - Coming from an era that has sold +1.620.000 copies so far in the UK alone - X Factor performance just the day before the release of the album - Currently touring the UK with +400K tickets sold for her shows in the UK alone - Standard and Deluxe versions of the album (which should definitely add some sales, ones from people that buy both version and others that maybe wouldnt have spent so much in the deluxe version, but like her enough to buy the low-prized one.) I think she really has EVERYTHING that an act can ask for to have the biggest opening week possible.

Oh I didn't realise that, in that case I definitely think she will beat One Direction, they'll pull out all the stops though through signings and stuff I'd imagine, plus they have Children In Need so imagine it will be neck and neck all week, but I reckon Rihanna really is just too strong now, I think she can keep them off the top of the singles chart too this week.
November 13, 201113 yr They should release the "You Da One" video at the beginning of December to maximise Christmas sales and then release "Where Have You Been" late February to keep sales strong. I wanted this era to be a long one (not just 9 months then announce new album) but I can't see what other singles there could be. Talk That Talk and maybe Drunk On Love but nothing else screams hit to me. I love Farewell
November 13, 201113 yr I love Farewell Oh I love every song on the album but nothing screams "Top 10 hit" to me, apart from Where Have You Been, Talk That Talk and Drunk On Love.
November 13, 201113 yr 132K Not a big Rihanna fan but she has to beat cute but dire One Direction. Edited November 13, 201113 yr by truly talented
November 13, 201113 yr Over 100,000 especially with huge success of WFL and X Factor, will be a big album regardless if it goes #1 when released, it'll probably get there at some point in the future..big sales for it in the next few weeks!
November 14, 201113 yr It'll open with just over 100k. Never in a million years will it sell over 200k All depends on what the promo, reviews of the album (Ive heard a couple of reviews saying its all about her sexualising herself again, with at times some very cringy lyrics.) I think I'll wait for the HMV bargain bin sale in January :)
November 14, 201113 yr I'm thinking she'll get around 125,000 first week. Up until now, I would have said that One Direction would beat her (unfortunately), but seeing as how much of a fight We Found Love is putting up against them, and the fact she basically has a clear run on X Factor next weekend (plus the buzz of doing the US version), I think she'll pull it off after all.
