It got held back in Germany? That's unusual. I really wish they would bring back OA/OS.

Germany have some daft chart regulations though so tracks can only chart if the record company allow it - or something along those lines. It's silly to think a song could be no. 1 on German iTunes and sell 1 million downloads and still not chart because the record label don't allow it. Madness!!!

Not really. See my point above. :D

For some reason the UK have struggled with OA/OS whilst if you look at most other countries iTunes, the big high profile new releases just rocket to no. 1 and in some cases have ended up being that countries official no. 1 single by the end of the week ('Born This Way' by Lady GaGa being a prime example).

Marry the night 35 & 141
Looks like people are no longer bothered with the XFactor, with Gaga not getting much of a spike from her performance (even if it was a little dull)

It sounds like the show has lost some of its boosting effect this year, have the viewing figures gone downhill or something ?

Well in Germany it's like this: A track can only chart if there is a CD-single availabe or if the record company apply for a song to be chart-eligable and theerfore they have to pay a fee to the chart company. The charts are not compiled by numer of tracks/singles purchased but by turnover. For the singles chart e.g. 1 download=1piece. 1 DL-bundle = 2.3 pieces, 1 cd-single=2.3 pieces and 1 Maxi-cd-single (also called "Premium-single)=4.3 pieces. So it is very difficult to get a good chart position without at least a DL-bundle or even better a CD-single. Therefore many record companies do not want a song to chart before several formats are availabe - because this would cost a high chart entry. So it is not unusual that tracks are availabe to download - get very high chart positions on itunes chart e.g. - but are not in the official chart.

I knew it was something like this but not exactly sure what the compiling method was. It still seems completely complex for a singles chart to be compiled in such a way.

That said, I only found out recently that Sweden's official singles chart has no iTunes data included whatsoever because they allow streaming sales - therefore iTunes refused to allow their sales to be incorporated. So again, whilst a song can be no. 1 in Sweden's iTunes for a whole week it might not even make their top 60 because it's not had enough streams. Thus explains why 'Hold It Against Me' was no. 1 on Swedish iTunes all week and entered their singles chart at something like #20.

Snow Patrol - This Isn't Everything You Are #129 (Album version) I'm so hoping this will go at least Top 40, it should of been released last week.

Edit: Flo Rida - Good Feeling  #5 - this is doing alot better than I thought it would considering it's had next to no airplay

By the looks of things Rihanna is going to remain at #1 for a 5th week unless 1D's physicals gives their single an extra push, I don't see it though. I just realised the X Factor charity single is out in 2 weeks time today, not next week, so it could remain at #1 for a sixth week after Rihanna's X Factor performance. :D
Don't do Rihanna, but hopefully she will remain at #1. Don't want 1D to have another number 1!!!

Good to see The Sats still climbing!

#15 and #75 now.

Fingers crossed it can somehow make top 10!

Really hope so. If they get to the top 10 somehow tomorrow it could get the exposure boost what with the top 10 being listed on the iTunes store hompage. Worked for Flo Rida who's jumped up to #5 from #8.

:right: One Direction #2

:right: Flo Rida #5

 The Saturdays #14 (and #75)

Any sign of Gina G 'Next 2 You' in the top 1000?

No, I though this was out ages ago?

On another note:

Snow Patrol - This Isn't Everything You Are #92 and '143 :D Hope it can keep climbing such a good song

I simply love that Rihanna is refusing to move from the top. I would LOVE it if she managed to fend off JLS and One Direction two weeks in a row, in her seventh week of release. Brilliant.

AND Saturdays are #14? Good. I am glad they are moving up, even if it is quite slowly.

It was out for a day then pulled as more promo came up. Official release was yesterday, fingers she at least enters the top 1000 soon!
