Damn! Although Olly has tweeted that he's number 1 for Capital big top 40 so maybe his EP sales have pushed him ahead? I don't know what criteria that chart uses.

How is the Big Top 40 determined. I always thought it was a billboard style chart, including airplay... but i don't think it is :/

They 'freeze' it at 6pm and they count down the iTunes top 10 from that point.

Yeah I just saw that, Flo Rida's ppoluarity is decreasing as well, it's a matter of time.

How is the Big Top 40 determined. I always thought it was a billboard style chart, including airplay... but i don't think it is :/

 

It includes airplay from commercial radio station between #11 and #40 (like Billboard), and combines the airplay with the sales over the entire week from iTunes, and the top 10 is the live top 10 on iTunes as of 6pm.

 

The chart can be such a mess sometimes. I've been thinking for a while now, they should just do the live iTunes top 40 as of 4pm. It'd be so much easier for people to understand, and you'd get some interesting songs charting. And they keep marketing it as the "chart that you can change", but realistically, it's too difficult to "change" the bit that you can change, since you need thousands of people to get involved. A small compaign of a few hundred people could feasibly get a song into the top 40 briefly though, I would think, so that would be another advantage of them doing the live top 40.
