The reason I asked was because when I originally checked, the artist update hadn't yet been posted. Apologies for coming across as being so stupid.

They will only climb between now and friday. Barlow isnt on the single, he got Labrinth to get the artists who form the collective on board.

 

Which begs the question - why the hell is he in the video? I just don't see the reason in that at all!

You would think Syco would have learnt from the costly mistake that was "Run for your Life".Matt not only had a poor peak of 6 but the song fell out of the Top 40 after 3 weeks.The only winner who would be suited to a Gary song is Craig, who will just follow a long line of mediocre male winners. A Barlow song will not give the show credibility it is winners who can sustain good sales and careers.

I can't help but notice that the first Westlife single looking likely to not to break the top 10 is also Barlow penned B-)

Does that sound familiar? Just like Matt Cardle, Westlife couldn't wait to ditch one of their own songs at the very last minute for a track penned by Lord Barlow.

Am I missing something here? Obviously he's penned some stonking songs for Take That but has he been credited as writing something for someone else that's a genuine hit? I've always heard he 'writes for other people' but which tracks for artists has he actually been credited for?

 

With The Collective, although not written by him but certainly associated with him, struggling this week, the disaster that was for Run For Your Life and now Lifehouse possibly breaking Westlife's streak, is there a curse of Gary Barlow?

 

Saying that though an original XF winner's single has got to be a good thing, That's My Goal sold really well, it's about time they had something original again, just got to hope there isn't a Gary curse :P

Good point Barlow also wrote Alesha Dixon's To Love Again which was an awful song.

I think Matt would have had a great start to his career if he had choosen another track, I think his career will stall now.

The winners single will do well regardless but I pity the winner if they have a whole album of Gary's Take That rejects.

Really happy Cher as only fel 3 places from sunday, Hopefully she will stay there! :wub: Can't believe how bad pixie is flopping such a shame :(

Sort of makes the idea he's writing the song by The X Factor winner this year more of a parody IMO - unless it actually is a cover of 'The Winner's Song'...

Former X Factor contestant One Direction meanwhile, look set to debut at number one at the weekend with their latest release, Gotta Be You. The track has sold less units than their debut What Makes You Beautiful, which has racked up the fastest selling first-week single of 2011, however it is still more than 400 units ahead of We Found Love by Rhianna feat. Calvin Harris which currently sits at number two.

 

It is not the only single by the Irish boy band entering the charts this week, with their track, Another Heart resting at 37 in the midweeks, just ahead of one of two Westlife singles in the chart, Poet’s Heart. Lighthouse by the band meanwhile looks set to enter in the top 20.

 

The midweek’s highest climber comes from Christina Perri’s Jar of Hearts – which ascends 17 – 5 in the midweeks – thanks to a live performance on Strictly Come Dancing at the weekend. Meanwhile, The Saturday’s My Hear t Takes Over, and Flo Rida also look set to enter the Top 10, a nine and eight respectively.

Snow Patrol’s sixth record Fallen Empires is currently leading the battle to top the UK albums chart, as One Direction’s third single Gotta Be You looks to debut at number one on Sunday.

 

Despite the success of the band since the 2006 release of single, Chasing Cars, Snow Patrol have yet to have an album debut at number one, however the Northern Irish/ Scottish group face tough competition from Epic-signed JLS’ third album, which is currently less than 200 units behind at number two in the OCC mid-week charts.

 

Last week’s number one album, Susan Boyle’s Someone To Watch Over Me meanwhile, has dropped to number six in the midweeks – with Michael Bublé’s Christmas, Florence + The Machine’s Ceremonials and Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto in third, fourth and fifth place respectively.

How come westlife are that high in the single chart when they have been between 25-30 on Itunes since realese or do they have many physical singles sold?

Firstly, great to see that 1D are only 400 ahead of Rihanna, although I'm sure they are more with the b-side's sales added. Hopefully Rihanna will regain the top spot.

 

Also, great to see JLS once again fail to get the #1 album. Hopefully they won't catch SP up.

I have a question about the B-side sales/cd sales. we often get b-sides show up in the 1st midweek update and then posters say they will be added to the sales of the single, but if they are purchased surely as a single song download only they shouldn't count towards the actual single.

 

Also some people say it is the cd sales when the b-side shows up, but that cant be true as say westlife wouldn't be as high as they are without cd sales, yet they also have a b-side showing up?
