was watching Children In Need last night and my mouth was literally open mouthed at the horror of The Collective. It was the most awful thing I have EVER heard-will this be the worst performing CIN record ever-do people have official sales figures for the CIN singles?

The McFly one maybe three years ago only got to no. 18 or something in a poorer sales climate and plummeted afterwards so The Collective should at least do better than that.
It's a good job they aren't relying on it for massive sales, they broke the record for donations on the night regardless!

I'd think it will outsell Headlines by Spice Girls as well. I doubt that Liberty X's A Night To Remember sold very much either despite getting a #6 peak...There have been some very poor Children In Need singles in the last 6 or 7 years, Peter Kay and JLS sort of saved it for a couple of years though.

The two S Club 7 singles are still my favourites I think, high quality pop ballads which sold well and raised good money for the cause.

Shane Richie *shudders*

There's been far worse than that but still.

I too think S Club 7's contributions were brilliant.

2009 and 2010 (gonna make a record how I felt then) showed both good sides to it really, a brilliant imaginative concept exclusively for CiN and then a perfectly decent pop ballad that it was easy to strap the charity name onto.

I shamefully loved Liberty X's cover of 'A Night To Remember'! Haha.

I agree S Club 7's were the best of a bad bunch, none have been anything amazing.

'Never Had A Dream Come True' was easily one of S Club 7's best singles. They were around at a time when I was embarrassed for the UK music industry (Billie, A1, Lolly, etc...) but S Club 7 rose above it all with a few decent singles.

Songs wise, they were easily one of the better British pop acts of their time.

In general, I'd say Peter Kay's Children In Need Medley 2009 was by far the most genius CIN single I've ever seen. That's seen. It was all about the music video.

The Collective is truly ABYSMAL. What a bunch of no marks massacring a fabulous song. Tulisa's mic not being on last night was the best thing about it, at least it was memorable.
personally I dont like the original, so if the original is average then the cover is at best going to be the same. Tulisa sounded awful live
Yeah it's awful, outside of Take That Gary Barlow is pretty useless at knowing what works. I think he was just very keen to be seen as cool. He should have got JLS, Olly Murs and One Direction to collaborate, something like that would shift tons regardless of it's quality.
I missed the CIN performance so thought I'd have a laugh and watch it on YouTube. Labrinth completely killed the track with some truly tragic harmonies. :manson: As for Tulisa, well...words fail me. I think Cheryl Cole can sing better and that's not an exaggeration.
I heard The Collective for the first time last night, I found it more odd than terrible... more downbeat than I was expecting, it's far from the worst Children In Need single IMO.

Teardrop is one of those songs that cannot be bettered really, it's such a classic tune. When i first heard about The Collective, i wasn't impressed at all.

So my vote is a definate yes for Worst CIN record ever. Even worse than Sid Owen & Patsy Palmer and Bruno Brookes & Liz Kershaw's attempts. At least those

weren't to be taken seriously just a bit of fun.

Best one not sure, the S Club ones were okay, loved the Liberty X track and its b-side. The Peter Kay was genius but all about the video.

Edited by Mark.

I thought this year's official single was gonna be the new manamana? And does anyone else remember a CIN single from years ago called something like 'My father found a rabbit who though it was a duck' ?
