Little Mix could do Supremes - Someday We'll Be Together

Amelia could do Gladys Knight's - If I Were Your Woman

This is The X Factor, it gives the worst definitions of genre possible...

On The Xtra Factor this week, Janet performed an acoustic version of 'Hey Ya!' with Amelia and Misha, which was a lot better than any of her performances on the main show, followed by "that's all you're getting for now", so I wouldn't be surprised to see her perform this as her "Motown" track this week, which I would be quite happy with.

I actually think Amelia will struggle most Amelia didn't do brilliantly with Think (I loved it but evidently it wasn't enough) - which is a similar style to what she'll be taking on...

She would have probably been better if she'd done it Siobhan (American Idol) Magnus style instead of trying to copy Aretha

I've heard it's still two Motown songs? Kinda throwing Amelia under a bus given I can see her struggling to suit just one!

Siobhan totally slays that song, still in my top 3 Idol performances of the past couple of years. Amelia couldn't have done it that good tbh.

According to someone on DS, the themes have been changed to Heroes and Guilty Pleasures - but there was no source given...
Guilty Pleasures week is always a stinker of TEETH-GNASHING performances. Didn't we get the likes of 'Ain't Nobody', 'Baby One More Time', 'Diamonds Are Forever' and 'Whole Lotta Love' as apparent 'guilty pleasures' last year? :manson: The whole theme seems to follow the definition of guilty pleasures for people who are seemingly embarrassed to even like MUSIC.

I LIKED Ain't Nobody last year. One of my favourite perfs of that series. Poor Paije. :(

It is yet another 'theme-that-is-no-theme' though. Really hoping we don't get that. At least 'Contestant's Choice' is brutally honest about there possibly being any track at all in the mix, and we should be getting some good performances out of it, given that they SHOULD be liking what they're singing.

I seem to recall Ain't Nobody being a grand PERF although up until five seconds ago I had forgotten about Paije's very EXISTENCE (and by associated those awful florescent fat person blazers he always wore).

I LOVED Ain't Nobody and Diamonds Are Forever's perfs last year, but guilty pleasures they were NOT!
True but I really couldn't CARE whether the songs stick to the theme. I just want HOT PERFS.
True. It is interesting if you get themes which actually make an impact on which songs are chosen, but beyond that, it's the performances that are best. Cheesy attempts to stick to the theme, (like Dermot's entrances, which are getting more of a parody every week) just make the show more of a drama than a singing competition. I know all hope for that went out the window long ago, but the themes are just distractions really, with the exception of artist weeks and occasionally, genre weeks.
I generally don't care about sticking to the theme, but for some reason it REALLY gets on my tits in Guilty Pleasures week. Although that's possibly just because the concept of 'guilty pleasures' as applied generally in the media by the 'real music' lot gets on my tits anyway. Looking back Matt Cardle's choice of Baby One More Time was very TELLING, especially given how snottily he spoke of it thereafter as a song that 'meant nothing'.

Would you expect Matt Cardle to go round singing a song like Baby One More Time and proudly claiming it?

He doesn't really seem the type.

Well NO I wouldn't, but then I have been calling him a cunt longer than most.
Hopefully someone sings a Diana Ross song called Chain Reaction. Love it! ^_^
She can have Mumford and Sons, but please not Islands

Indeed. Mumford and Sons songs can't possibly sound any more awful.

Trouble is that it isn't a Motown song - She recorded this Bee Gees song in 1986 - 5 years after she left Motown

Two of the WORST themes ever to have graced The X Factor in one show. Such a silly decision, especially at this late stage in the competition where the themed weeks are actually meant to mean something -_-
So Tulisa is probably going to give Little Mix a Black Eyed Peas (heroes) and Michael Jackson (guilty pleasure) songs clubbed up dressing girls in superwomen and ice-creams.
