Yeah, airplay is looking a bit better. Which isn't much, but summing up the video airplay, the big media attention they have these days and the promotion they've got lined up...this could be a solid top10, and if the chart performance is going to affect wether they get the US deal or not, I think that will be enough.

 

I think the issue is with this single, is that it got premiered FARRR to early.

There is usually a month /3 week premier with them but this was 5+ weeks was it not?

No. They've always premiered the single six weeks in advance of the release date. Two weeks are spent on sending the song to radios and letting them now they've got the single out, and the next month is to let the airplay grow.

 

Songs don't enter radio playlists right away, so if they premiered the song one month in advance, they wouldn't have much time to climb on Radio 1's playlist. It's achievable, but they can't risk their position if some bigger artist release his song at the same time as them or brings forward the release date like what happened with Fun.

I think you're right. They will be around two months recording the show overseas so it would've been too much time since their last single release in the UK...MHTO in November.

 

Besides is a god way to tying all this media attention up and translate it into business. It's the perfect 'excuse' to have interviews and talk about all the press stories.

 

That said, I hope it gets them another top10 at least.

There is a given 'play date' to stations telling them when to start putting that record on rotation. It's no good playing the track on heavy rotation when it's not out untill 6wks - you've just wasted your whole campaign. It's built that way so each week there's an increase in interest in the track which in effect should indicate how well the campaign is going to hold up.

 

The video is nearly at 1m views in 3wks. To my understanding, that's hardly a bad thing.

There is literally zero no buzz around this single at all. You just KNOW it's going to be another (slightly more successful) 'My Heart Takes Over' release.

They should announce more signings, so far they're only doing one HMV signing in Glasgow.

Maybe Hmv beside Buchanan Street will be selling 30 days Physical Cd's. It's a fantastic oppurtunity to increase sales tbh! Buchanan is the best street to get sales because it's so busy!

Surely the max amount of signings would be 1k at an ABSOLUTE push..Not really going to effect the chart position too much, still least they are getting out there!

Yeah but 1k could be the difference between top 5 or missing the top 5!

I just wish they would sell 30 days for at least 79p or 59p at the start before increasing the price in around 2 weeks time.

Yeah, the main objective here is to reinforce their relation with the fans. A thousand people tweeting and talking about it to other friends can create some buzz. Plus, they may scratch some aditional sales of their previous albums.

 

By the way, the single is up to #57 (from #74) on airplay rotation's update.
