Pointless article to put here but this is just hilarious.

A music blog has launched a new plugin called 'Nickelblock' to eliminate all mentions of Nickelback from web browsers.

Those who download the free service from Aux.com can eliminate all traces of Chad Kroeger and co when they're surfing the internet.

Despite enjoying a 15-year-career that has spawned seven studio albums, Nickelback have often found themselves the recipients of derision by music lovers. A survey carried out by dating site Tastebuds.fm showed that the Canadian arena rockers were considered the biggest musical turnoff. They picked up 13% of the vote and beat the likes of Coldplay and Lady Gaga to the top spot.

Earlier this month, meanwhile, angry American football fans started an online petition to stop the band from performing at a halftime Thanksgiving show. Over 50,000 supporters of the Detroit Lions signed the petition, in the hope that Nickelback would be axed from the halftime show of their fixture against the Green Bay Packers.

Nickelback released their seventh studio album, 'Here And Now', earlier this week (November 21). Talking about the LP, Kroeger said: "We entered the studio this year with a vision, and it all came together. We're extremely happy with the results, and can't wait to share them with our fans."

I can't believe this Nickelback hate thing is still alive. It's so 2008/2009.

I saw this and it reminded of a video uploaded by a channel I subscribe to a couple of weeks ago.

Made me lol.

I love how he (in the video at around 3:38) said they are "probably one of the smartest bands out there". LOL

Edit: The plug-in kinda works. But I'll uninstall it soon. Ha!

I'll stick with Kittenblock thanks.

(When We Stand Together is a CHOOOON).

Never really understood the hate for Nickelback to be honest, plenty of similar rock bands like them. Why are they singled out?

Where did the hate stem from? I could understand it if they manufactured but they're not.

Vast over exposure and Chad Kroeger's grating voice are probably two of the main reasons.

Yeah, Creed get similar hatred over in the US but they've sold bugger all over here whereas Nickelback are responsible for our 3rd and 4th best selling rock singles of the century. Yay.

Interestingly, the band who are 1st and 2nd on that list manage to largely survive the hate, maybe because they're actually quite good :P

Presumably RATM and ?

Kings Of Leon?

Yeah. I forgot "Killing In The Name" will have outsold "How You Remind Me" by now, oops.

Kings of Leon have turned into the country U2 and as such are an abomination. Use Somebody is just awful.

The fact that they're more likely to implode than U2 probably pleases you

I miss when KOL were churning out kooky stuff like Molly's Chambers and On Call. I don't know what they are now.
KOL were certainly better then but calling it kooky is surely a little generous. Not really how I'd ever have described them

IMO, KoL albums go:

01 Because of the Times

02 Only By The Night

03 Aha Shake Heartbreak

04 Youth and Young Manhood

05 Come Around Sundown

YAYM is good, ASH effectively does the same thing but better and BOTT was something of a glorious realisation of their potential. OBTN is an excellent pop album, CAS is good enough but just too dull and samey really.

I'd swap ASH and OBTN. I fully agree with you on Aha Shake Heartbreak. It's very similar to their debut, but better in almost every way. One of their two great albums.
