Posted December 2, 201113 yr The first major 2012 new music poll has been revealed as MTV Brand New 2012 announced its shortlist of new artists tipped for big things next year. Urban music and singer-songwriters dominate in a list of nine new, upcoming artists. London is well-represented as 7 of the 9 artists come from the capital: Angel, Charli XCX, Clement Marfo and the Frontline, Delilah, Michael Kiwanuka, King Charles and Lianne la Havas. The coveted tenth spot on the list – to be awarded to an unsigned UK act - will be announced on January 9, 2012 before voting commences for all ten to go head-to-head to win the ultimate ‘Brand New for 2012’ title. Wretch 32, Angel and Clement Marfo And The Frontline will be amongst the performers at the MTV Brand New For 2012 launch tonight (December 1) at London's KOKO. Highlights from the launch night will premiere on MTV Music on Saturday, December 17 at 10pm, and MTV Base on Sunday, December 18 at 10pm. MTV Brand New for 2012’s nine shortlisted artists are: ANGEL (ISLAND) CHARLI XCX (ATLANTIC) CLEMENT MARFO & THE FRONTLINE (WARNER) CONOR MAYNARD (PARLOPHONE) DELILAH (ATLANTIC) KING CHARLES (UNIVERSAL) LANA DEL REY (POLYDOR) LIANNE LA HAVAS (WARNER) MICHAEL KIWANUKA (POLYDOR) ====================== Didn't know where to put this, but I think the chart forum will suffice for now, MTV have listed 9 brand new acts for 2012, Nice to see Delilah and Lana Del Rey on the list.
December 2, 201113 yr Surely Delilah and Lana shouldn't be on here seeing as both have already had pretty decent sized hits in 2011? Of those I've heard music by Charli XCX, Lianne La Havas and Michael Kiwanuka (as well as Delilah and Lana Del Rey obviously). Edited December 2, 201113 yr by Bré

December 2, 201113 yr I really hope R&B isn't making a huge comeback. Not that it went away but to the levels of the mid 00's. I like the dance trend we have going on.
