February 5, 201213 yr This is very clearly a real marmite album. And that Tiny Mix Tapes "review" is just so sneery and supercilious. Just choosing to have a go at the album because it uses a limited lexicon. Plenty of artists have chosen to use a similar number of ideas in their work but they don't get hammered in the same way. Bloody elitist snobs. The only real "problem" I have with this album is that it does present women as being weak appendages dependent on their big strong men. But is this still a valid point of view because I think there are a lot of women who still do this (see any trash talk show in the UK or the US)? Is she just reflecting reality (with extra coke and guns)? I think Ben did have a valid point with what he was talking about a few pages back. I still love the album though.
February 5, 201213 yr "No serious musician would ever change their name... except maybe for Sting, Cher, Elton John, Lady GaGa, Jay-Z, everyone else in hip-hop and of course Bob Dylan". was my favourite part of that - hysterical. Lana's album made #1 and sold approx. 117,000 this week. Richly deserved I say.
February 5, 201213 yr Despite being a Lana fan, I also think this spoof of Video Games is hilarious. The singing tipped me over the edge!! OBa4L8F-urE
February 5, 201213 yr Isn't that the parody where she messaged the account "Go f*** Yourself"? Maybe, she also said she found the video funny but called her the c word
February 5, 201213 yr She sounds a bit like Siouxsie Sioux on Million Dollar Man. I'm loving this album a lot..... a deserved number one, for once, believe the hype.
February 6, 201213 yr I found this album so disappointing at the start, but I am honestly loving it so much now, every single song is growing, so I think its time to do a rate: 10 Born To Die 08 Off To The Races 11 Blue Jeans 09 Video Games 06 Diet Mountain Dew 09 National Anthem 09 Dark Paradise 08 Radio 07 Carmen 08 Million Dollar Man 10 Summertime Sadness 09 This Is What Makes Us Girls 09 Without You 07 Lolita 08 Lucky Ones
February 7, 201213 yr How long does the album last? I've heard a couple of tracks and kind of want to listen to it but I have precious little desire to sit through 15 tracks, unless a lot are quite short, which I really can't imagine them to be.

I find 15 a bit too much personally. My current version is: 01 Born To Die 02 Blue Jeans 03 Video Games 04 Diet Mountain Dew 05 Dark Paradise 06 Off To The Races 07 National Anthem 08 Summertime Sadness 09 Radio 10 Without You 11 This Is What Makes Us Girls About 45 mins and much more palatable.

Not a fan of 'Carmen' or 'Lolita' then?
