Worked wonders for GaGa, albeit with one less song.

Do you mean to say that if The Fame Monster (or whatever the 8 tracks extra disc was called) had been released separately then she would not have been so successful?

Ooh sounds nice.

Not necessarily, more that it's a release tactic that's been proven to work and is probably a "safe" way to go - it's closely related enough to the original release to carry some of its momentum but has enough extra tracks to tempt people who already own the standard edition.

Although saying that, The Fame Monster was a separate release in the US and didn't do as well as it did over here as a package.

So is "Blue Velvet" just a promo/advert single, and "Ride" is the official single? Or is "Ride" just for the US?

It's the official single here as well, "Blue Velvet" is just for promo. Hope "Ride" is OA/OS.

Point taken.

Ride is decent enough for a single but once again there's no deviation from her formula. Snap for Burning Desire.

Paradise on the other hand (which for some reason didn't make the tracklist) is quite different for her and all the better for it.

Ride is brilliant, I wish it was something different but why fix what isn't broke?

My God, this sort of treatment usually gets given to 10 or 20 year anniversary releases.
Cut 'The Remixes' and 'Blue Velvet' 7" and sell it 10 quid cheaper, please.
I love ride but kind of wished that Damn You was on the repack, it resonates so strongly with me. I think the songs are going to be darker and even less pop than BTD. Was kind of hoping she would release something more commercial and get that smash. Like I could have seen Britney or Katy perry doing that Damn You song, and Rihanna just released such a Lana inspired song in Diamonds. I just think she could compete with these girls.
I don't see why she has to compete with any of the aforementioned singers. She is not an out and out pop singer, much more niche.

Great video though. Unlike Gaga her pretentiousness is sort of appealing. She even smiles!
