I've decided to not take her seriously and just appreciate 'Born to Die' as the beautiful song and video package it is.

Don't really see why you can't take her seriously to be honest. The name and look may have changed but musically her first album is pretty similar to what she's doing now. Let's face it Madonna for example has always changed her look even if the music remained much the same and no-one really said she couldn't be taken seriously. At least not since 1986

Vocally weird. Doesn't sound like her at all. It's very good though, the last minute is epic.

I really rather like that on first listen, good to hear a different side to her and I think it works. High hopes for the album now.

This is Indie/Alternative/Specialist forum. Artists don't need to "happen" - they just need to be good. Marina had some fantastic stuff on her album - enough for me to want her to make another.
