Angela Merkel's reactions to the goals were by far the most entertaining thing about the match.
Seeing how Germany played they are one of the best sides of the tournament they have some great players, Gomez, Ozil, Podoksi. I think its heading for a Spain vs Germany final again, but this time Germany will probably win it. We see what happens tomorrow when Spain play France. Germany haven't won the Euro since 1996, I think its their year.
I was disappointed Low went for Schurrle (and Reus but he played great) over Gotze tonight, he should be getting a lot more game time, especially ahead of Kroos. The Germans were fantastic tonight, I expect them in the final. Tomorrow's QF has the potential to be an absolute classic, hopefully both teams play for the win and not to not lose.
Fabio Capello has this evening said that "it doesn't matter who wins on Sunday really as Germany will knock the winners out in the semi"

Well anybody could tell you that. But it's a one off tournament, and the best teams on paper don't always win the matches they're supposed to. I think the Germans are the favorites to win, and rightly so. But they're beatable. And I don't think they're as good as they were in 2010 personally.

Bring on a Spain vs. England final!

Too easy for Spain. Massively disappointed by France's attacking ability, though I did say pre-tournament that their quality was being very overrated by the English. 1 win, 1 draw and 2 defeats probably shows I was right
Spain pretty much walked that match, France didn't really perform, Spain vs Portugal is building up to be a great game.

I just find Spain so boring to watch now. Having Barcelona and Real Madrid on Sky Sports every week has probably contributed to that

as for France.. I was actually tempted to put a bet on them to win and Benzema to be top scorer :o and here he is leaving the competition without a single goal

Benzema has been absolute gash all tournament. His touch is just... not even there. He wasted so much of France's possession tonight. Spain can be easy on the eye, but they can be boring when they want to be. Spain are lethal on the counter attack, but they can be got at if you attack them. If France's attacking play wasn't so poor/disjointed then they might have got a goal. Spain are nowhere near as good as they were in 2008/2010, and they can be got at. You'll always get chances against them, but you've just got to be clinical.

I think Spain vs Portugal has the potential to be boring. Ronaldo will show up, but I think Portugal's midfield is pretty weak.

I couldn't care less who wins out of Spain and Portugal. From the football I've seen, neither side is anything to get excited about and I'd rather they didn't win. I'll be rooting for whoever comes through on the other semi, be that England, Germany or Italy, all are far preferable.

Spain were so... static tonight, I only saw the second half, but France looked like they were playing a much more interesting game. Admittedly it was subpar compared to what Spain were doing, but, jeez, I was hardly concentrating on the football at all when Spain had the ball.

Spain were much better in the 1st half. They just sat back in the second half and tried to keep possession when they could. France came at them more, but they never really looked like scoring, ever. I just don't think Fabregas can play the false number 9 role. He's no Messi. They play better with an out and out striker, although they miss Villa so much.

In the second half Spain just seemed to be preserving energy and letting the ball do the work (to use a well-worn cliche). With only four days until the semi-final (compared with six days for Portugal) that isn't a bad tactic.

Exactly they had no need to. People may call it boring, but I'd love my team to be able to do what Spain they. They control the game even when they're not in possession of the ball. I still think they're the favorites, and we have not seen Spain out of third gear yet. The reason they do this, is there is no-one who can match Spain. Germany are probably best opposed to do this, but they'll have to change their game against Spain as there's no way Spain will let them counter attack in the way they do. The only problem Spain have is the 4-6-0 they play is they have six players in midfield who all want the ball glued to their feet. Previously when Roma and Barcelona have played this they have had fast paced wingers which counts for a lot. Saying that it's extremely effective for them, and I fully expect Spain to still win.

The big one tonight then, got a £7 accumulator on the quarters, went for Spain, Portugal, Germany and a draw tonight. Would win me £70 so hoping for the draw in 90mins!
