May 15, 201213 yr Walker injured. Crouch, Richards and Ferdinand not selected Training camp in Spain cancelled
May 15, 201213 yr Author Walker injured. Crouch, Richards and Ferdinand not selected Training camp in Spain cancelled Hold on, Richards not selected despite Walker being out? Why?
May 15, 201213 yr Wow an excellent beiginning to the Hodgson tenture. His squad already seemingly released early. I'd guess if there's no Richards, then Phil Jones (*shudder*) will be the second choice right-back. Again, great management by Roy Hodgson. I'm pretty sure most man utd fans will agree with me that Phil Jones is utterly shyte at right-back.
May 15, 201213 yr Joe bloody Cole appears to be in the England squad aswell. Oh my days. See England, this is what you get when your wishes come true for an English manager!
May 16, 201213 yr Confirmed squad: GK: Joe Hart, John Ruddy, Robert Green DF: John Terry, Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole, Glen Johnson, Leighton Baines, Joleon Lescott, Phil Jones MF: Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Scott Parker, Gareth Barry, James Milner, Ashley Young, Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Stewart Downing FW: Wayne Rooney, Andy Carroll, Jermain Defoe, Danny Welbeck Stand by list: Jack Butland, Phil Jagielka, Jordan Henderson, Adam Johnson, Daniel Sturridge
May 16, 201213 yr Yep at least there's no Zamora or Cole, but I would have taken Sturridge or A.Johnson ahead of Downing Henderson shouldn't be on the stand by list either
May 16, 201213 yr Henderson's quality. In a year or two he'll be the best English midfielder we have available. Only taking 4 strikers? Hmm i'd guess Hodgson will not play 4-4-2 then, like he usually does. Bit of a risk considering we only have 3 available strikers for the first 2 games.
May 16, 201213 yr I really like Henderson and think he'll be great for us in the future, but I don't think he's quite ready yet and it's likely he'll go to the tournament if Parker doesn't recover
May 16, 201213 yr I really like Henderson and think he'll be great for us in the future, but I don't think he's quite ready yet and it's likely he'll go to the tournament if Parker doesn't recover Carrick's better than him at this moment in time agreed. Thought Pearce would have wanted him in the Olympics though. Big problem with England if Parker doesn't go, cos we don't have a defensive midfielder apart from Barry.
May 16, 201213 yr Author With Young and Walcott listed as midfielders the striker situation isn't actually too bad for the first two games, especially if we play 4-3-3 which that squad suggests we will.
May 16, 201213 yr Rio has had his best season in ages yet and Terry nearly kills his side's chances of glory but he picks Terry? (probably because he can shout and say a few swear words to 'motivate') and how the hell is Downing in over Adam Johnson when Downing hasn't even had an assist all season? I really have no idea what Micah Richards has to do exactly, Josh is right even as a United fan I think he's not a great right back. If we are in trouble I don't really see any impact players in there and I think Crouch would have filled the void (or he could have even started) Carrick should at least be on the standby list, been awesome for us this season. John Ruddy and The Ox I'm happy with and I'm glad Carroll is going too.

John Ruddy and The Ox I'm happy with and I'm glad Carroll is going too. I've seen Ferdinand have some terrible games this season. I guess there are politics behind it, but if I had to choose one between Ferdinand and Terry I'd choose the latter. Lord knows why Downing was picked, he's been abominal. But Adam Johnson doesn't even start for City, and sometimes can't even get in to the squad! I would have taken Richards as back-up right back. It's weird because Richards is the sort of player that Hodgson loves.
May 16, 201213 yr #Hodgsonout is trending on twitter. Well that lasted long didn't it The very same people that said Liverpool fans didn't give him a chance are now moaning before a ball has even been kicked
May 16, 201213 yr #Hodgsonout is trending on twitter. Well that lasted long didn't it The very same people that said Liverpool fans didn't give him a chance are now moaning before a ball has even been kicked That's actually because Robbie Fowler said it as a joke for not being there. Tbh whatever selection he made people would moan.

We won't play 4-3-3. That is not Roy Hodgson. This squad has a defensive, hard to break down, 4-5-1 written all over it.
May 16, 201213 yr Author We won't play 4-3-3. That is not Roy Hodgson. This squad has a defensive, hard to break down, 4-5-1 written all over it. Well, if you're playing Walcott and Young it can't help but become a 4-3-3 when we're attacking.
May 16, 201213 yr Roy Hodgson on.. Steven Gerrard: Captain. Merits award. Know him as a person and player. Comitted to England cause. Wants his help to create team unity Rio Ferdinand: Footballing decision. Only played once for England in past year. Difficult phone call to make. Nothing to do with John Terry Micah Richards: Difficult decision. Either Jones or Richards at RB. Jones has done well at RB John Ruddy: Excellent season. Important player for Norwich Oxlaide-Chamberlain: Exciting player. Saw how well he dealt with AC Milan's midfield at the Emirates. Can play wide or central Andy Carroll: Different to other players in squad. Able to hold ball up. Aerial ability. Can use strength and power. Spoke to Kenny about his ability, personality and seriousness John Terry: Innocent until proven guilty. Based on footballing matters. Contributed towards FA Cup win and reaching Champions league final Spain training camp: Cancelled. Too many players missing or tired to go on Monday. Training in Manchester instead
May 16, 201213 yr Roy Hodgson on.. Steven Gerrard: Captain. Merits award. Know him as a person and player. Comitted to England cause. Wants his help to create team unity (Probably right choice given the squad) Rio Ferdinand: Footballing decision. Only played once for England in past year. Difficult phone call to make. Nothing to do with John Terry (of course it's nothing to do with Terry, oh look there's a flying pig) Micah Richards: Difficult decision. Either Jones or Richards at RB. Jones has done well at RB (He has???) John Ruddy: Excellent season. Important player for Norwich (Can't say I've noticed much of Ruddy, but great news for him) Oxlaide-Chamberlain: Exciting player. Saw how well he dealt with AC Milan's midfield at the Emirates. Can play wide or central (can't grumble) Andy Carroll: Different to other players in squad. Able to hold ball up. Aerial ability. Can use strength and power. Spoke to Kenny about his ability, personality and seriousness (2 weeks of form - is that REALLY enough to have him over Crouch. No country knows how to deal with King Crouch as his scoring record suggests.) John Terry: Innocent until proven guilty. Based on footballing matters. Contributed towards FA Cup win and reaching Champions league final (If helping reach the CL final includes getting sent off for violent conduct then woooo! Can't wait to see him get sent off in the semis! (again)) Spain training camp: Cancelled. Too many players missing or tired to go on Monday. Training in Manchester instead (good call)
