December 19, 201212 yr My interest in this had been waning but after seeing the last half of the finale I want season 3 right now. I can't really comment on Mad Men or Breaking Bad but surely nothing else comes close to this in terms of twists? Episode 10 was my highlight of the season though. I think it's storytelling is completely different to Mad Men and Breaking Bad. The twists are what keep people gripped in Homeland, and especially the moral compass about whether they're good/bad characters. 24 beats Homeland by a country mile for twists. Infact I don't think a TV show comes close to it. Just thinking now though, the Carrie/Brody plot that will undoubtably explored in Season 3 has parallels to the Jack Bauer and David Palmer assassination plot.
April 13, 201312 yr So I just finished catching up on season 2. I really think after an amazing start (Carrie in that market still makes me LOL) it lost its way once Brody was discovered. Storylines were accelerated too much (Brody becoming congressman and then potentially VP) and there's only so many times we can see Brody being pushed to the absolute limit of sanity. The entire episode with him breaking into the VP's office was simply the most preposterous thing ever! And it didn't really suit this show which should be a bit more intelligently written than that. I mean as bloody IF the Vice President of America would not have a single security camera in his office. Details like that let it down. Also after making a big deal of putting Jess and Brody back together they broke it up too suddenly. Their family scenes, which were the most believable and real thing about season one, went to shit. However the last two episodes, especially the finale, were SO full of heightened tension and unexpected twists and the writing came good again. As Ryan said season three is going to be a whole new beast, which is just as while because I was beginning to think this story had exhausted itself. Kudos to them for having the balls to kill off Estes and about two hundred other people! Saul is certainly looking very suspicious at the minute (to the audience). So I'm cautiously anticipating September now.
April 13, 201312 yr I think the only way the show could continue as such a high level of quality was to speed things up a lot in S2 and blast through a lot of potential stories much faster than it would have done on a network show for example. Had they dragged that stuff out it would definitely have dipped and personally I think that would have been worse.

They just need to lock Howard Gordon away so he can relive 24 on his own.
August 9, 201311 yr Oh god I still need to catch up on season 2 OOOPS Edited August 9, 201311 yr by P∆VEL
September 2, 201311 yr Season opener leaked (minus some visual effects). Very excited for what's to come.
September 3, 201311 yr I can NOT wait for this! I'll wait for the proper premiere, I don't want to wait a month for the next episode anyway.
September 30, 201311 yr Season 3 premiere was amazing :o I missed this show so much  I was surprised that Brody didn't appear at all!
September 30, 201311 yr Agreed, very strong season premiere. Very slow as well but they really needed to dial down the craziness for a while and let the characters breathe. The betrayal in the final scene was quite heartbreaking to watch. Dana's new boyf is hot to trot.
October 28, 201311 yr This season is turning out to be a bit rubbish, no? I'm really not getting Carrie's storyline, shame really because I thought it was starting out strong. Once again I'm probably the only person online enjoying Dana's arc.
October 28, 201311 yr yeah, i've watched the first three and have literally no motivation to keep going. it's just all got so DULL.
October 28, 201311 yr Have faith. This is Homeland, the pace will pick up. It started to make sense in Episode 4 and Episode 5 is great.
October 30, 201311 yr I hated the Dana storyline, but at least with episode 5 I can see where it's going to lead to. They need to properly re-introduced Brody back in to the fold. Going to be interesting how exactly they do. The last 6/7 minutes of episode 5 were tense. I'm just not sure where exactly the season is heading to, and what the end game is.
