Arsenal DENIED! :D

They were totally shocking today. Having their usual mid-season meltdown. I'd be really worried if I was an Arsenal fan. As much I think Wenger is a good manager, they need a change. He was totally clueless today (and has been most of the season). Don't think he's realised we're in 2012 now and not 2006. Football's changed so much.

Saw speculation that the Barcelona coach could replace Wenger owing to the Barcelona coach's contract situation. Speculation was based on this I think.

I'd be surprised if Guardiola left Barca for Arsenal. I'd be surprised if they get rid of him soon, they've not had dominance like this for ages. OK they've not doing brilliantly in the league, but still!

Nice professionalism from Liverpool today. Felt a bit sorry for the lad who scored two own goals. Gerrard's one was definitely going in the back of the net though. Finally Stewart Downing does something of note, and Any Carroll finally looks like becoming the player worth his price tag.

Barca won't get rid of him, but he might choose to leave. His contract is up and he said when he first joined that he would probably just do those four years, if they win the Champions League again I think he may well leave, 3 Champions League's, 3 titles and however many domestic cups in four years? He's commented recently that the expectations of the club are far too high.
Embarrassing for Brighton and the own goals, I had a couple of quid on them to win out of misplaced loyalty but of course I never actually expected it to come to fruition.

It is a wonderful result for Liverpool, Carroll scoring might well be a selection headache for Dalglish.

Impressed with Stevenage today, leaving the big guns of Spurs firing blanks.

Not sure I like Chelsea's chances away to Birmingham, they are not easily beaten at home and are unbeaten there in the league so far.

Perhaps. Even if he did leave Barcelona, I couldn't see him taking up a managerial vacancy straight away. Arsenal could be ideal for him, but I'll wait until the Arsenal board have the ballls to sack Wenger, because there is no way the man will walk out.

For all their posession in the first half, they were pretty clueless with what to do with it. I never thought they'd get a result. Glad they came and had a go, but Liverpool were toothless today. First time they have given anyone a real proper drubbing all season. Carroll's been immense in 2012. The problem is against the big teams that play with 5 in midfield, Liverpool can get overrun in midfield. And you just cannot leave Suarez out of the first XI.

Brighton won 4-3. It's only a loophole in the laws of the game that saw Liverpool go through :(

The third own goal was a total farce but there was nothing Bridcutt could do about his two. At least the supporters did Brighton proud.

Yeah your support was really good. Liverpool's was non-existent, apart from the end and the odd Suarez chant. "What a waste of money" and the Suarez "we know what you are" didn't help you in the end though ;) :P

The Guardiola thing I think is pure fantasy, and as much as I would love to see him as the next manager of Arsenal, I would look at the appointment with some trepidation. He could be one of those managers who really excels at one club (right club, right time) and then never quite lives up to that elsewhere. I actually fancy Jurgen Klopp to replace Wenger and hopefully bring Mario Gotze with him. This is obviously pure speculation as I cannot envisage Wenger leaving or the board sacking him.

Well done to Liverpool today, they looked a bit more lively than usual, though it helped that Bridcutt scored more own goals in one match than Torres has all year :o

Liverpool have been playing like that all season. The story has been they couldn't convert chances. Amazingly that was the first time Carroll, Gerrard and Suarez had ever started together. Just need to get that elusive 4th place now. Going to be tough. Big games coming up for Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool and Chelsea within the next few weeks.

We hadn't been putting our chances away, so another team decides to do it for us :D

The third own goal was hilarious, although I did feel sorry for the Brighton players and fans that travelled. Being on the end of a 6-1 is never nice and it could have easily been more

I think it's been a while since Brighton have suffered a heavy defeat. They were playing reasonably well for a large part of the match although a well organised Liverpool defence prevented them from getting many chances. Once they fell 4-1 behind then they just gave up. They've had experience of being two goals down - sometimes even getting at least a point from that position - but three down with plenty of time to go was a new experience and they didn't have much idea what to do.

It's often been said that the big difference between the top division and the second tier is the way mistakes are punished and yesterday was a good demonstration of that. Brighton's defensive mistakes were punished whereas Liverpool's defence remained solid and Brighton aren't used to that. I've always felt that mid-table obscurity would be a decent achievement for Brighton this season rather than another promotion. After yesterday I'm even more certain.

Thankfully Liverpool's defence has been a real bright spot this year. If Martin Sktrel does not get some recognition out of Merseyside for his form this year, there is something wrong! Lua-Lua was the first winger I have seen that had given Johnson trouble this season.

Thankfully it sppears Fabrice Muamba is in a stable condition. Tonight really put to shame the myth that all football fans are idiots. The Spurs fans were pure class.

I'm absolutely gobsmacked but totally delighted he's stable to be honest. Seeing him flapping about on the pitch having just collapsed was just shocking and sickening, the reactions of the players said it all really, on both sides, crying, praying, helping.... Credit to everyone involved who's been able to make him stable. Really felt for Keegan too, having to wipe away and hold back tears to broadcast live.

It makes you think though, watching someone the same age as me just collapsing there and then, and they're a professional athlete. You never know what'll happen.

Kevin Keegan was manager of Man City when Foe died, wasn't he? Can see why it had such an effect on him.

I've not seen any of the reactions yet to when he went down. Only the picture of Van Der Vaart. So glad Howard Webb called the game off though, you just couldn't have allowed it to continute. I really hope he pulls through. I think it adds weight to the argument that all footballers should have their hearts tested out. But sometimes these things are so minute that no heart test will ever pick up if it's likely to happen to you.

Tonight's news still sounds pretty grim. I suspect the earlier report that he was "stable" may have been over optimistic. Rarely have I been so keen to be proved wrong.

Yes it from Sky Sports. He's in critical condition at the moment, but these things can change within seconds, so he could have been stable, then turned into a critical condition. Just really hope he pulls through now.
