I think with this album she has not attarced any causal listeners.

I agree. But she did say that the album would be for her fans, so i guess that makes sense.

I can't comment objectively as i am obviously a Gaga loon ^_^ , but for me the album speaks to me more than anything else i have heard this year. But yes, it was massively over-hyped, but i would say it has delivered. Over 5-7million copies worldwide is not an easy task to achieve, but i guess for some, they'd say its underperforming in that it hasnt been the biggest album of the year, which is ridiculous!

Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas Is You is combined with the Justin Bieber version??? so it's ahead of Coldplay... I can't believe they are not getting again the top 10, where the hell she came from?!

I don't think its combined with the Justin Bieber version.

But there are 2 versions which put it into the top 10.

The chart on sunday between 40-21 should be very festive lol....wonder if theyll last there until xmas week when they get their 3rd boost!!

iTunes will probably have put them back up to 99p by then, or otherwise the initial effect of the 59p boost will have somewhat died down. Obviously won't affect The Pogues, they don't need a price reduction to do well :D

Wizzard top 20 and Slade top 25 :cheer: Top version of Fairytale Of New York also back in the top 30 (again despite still being 99p)!

I seriously hope Mariah stalls at #11 now. If it gets top 10 that'll be another boost for it - and who knows, maybe Reggie's seemingly ridiculously optimistic prediction of it being top 5 by Christmas could sadly come true :(

I remember thinking on Sunday when Reggie told us to expect Christmas songs to come flooding in this week, 'no they won't Reggie, there were only 2 last year, we're hardly going to get more this year'. His stupidity has been cancelled out by this whole 59p affair.

Mariah is currently 6th comined. Would be fantastic if it was officially Top 10 on Sunday. :yahoo:

No she isn't. You have to combine all the other songs as well if you're going to combine Mariah, which puts both Levels and We Found Love ahead, so it's only #8 combined.

maybe they'll be reduced to 59p on Xmas week itself, for maximum effect?

Xmas update (since 5:32pm Tuesday)

One of the only 2 times of year Cliff Richard has an opportunity to show his face in the iTunes top 300 (the other being Halloween for 'Devil Woman')

What? :manson:

Is that the original version of 'All I Want For Christmas' by Mariah Carey at #11 on iTunes? I heard the new version with Justin Bieber and he sounds abysmal on the track - terribly autotuned to the point he sounds like a robot.

I don't mind the original version though.

Yes, it's the original version. Even Bieber will have a tough time making AIWFCIY worse. His version is the one at #158 :P

Why is Coldplay's Paradise making a surge up the iTunes chart when it has been out for weeks?

don't get me wrong I love the song, but they are about to move on and promote 'Charlie Brown' so this late surge seems random. Has it been used on a popular TV show this week or anything?

Commenting on the Xmas update

Great to see the 59p effect bringing more Xmas songs into the charts :cheer: especially Slade and Band Aid :D I also like Wizard. Wham! is alright but nothing special. Justin Bieber is not welcome back to the top 40 :puke: Why are people buying Brenda Lee's version of Rockin' Round The Christmas Tree? I much prefer the Mel & Kim version

Great to see the Chris Moyles effect has got Domnick The Italian Christmas Donkey Top 100   Why are some people buying Proper Crimbo however  sounds terrible from the preview.

It started its current stint in the iTunes top 10 (which I believe is its third) after being used on I'm A Celebrity. The reason it's now top 5 again is because it was reduced to 59p.

I thought Coldplay were promoting Princess of China next.

But Charlie Brown is #799. It's holding up well.
