Just goes to show that with the right material, Leona's still relevant! :cheer:  Hoping she makes it to #2 before XF Winner releases and doesn't go into freefall after the X Factor effect wears off..

Do you mean with "covers"? :kink:

This will be Leona's 8th top 10 hit then, which will put her level with JLS again for most top 10 hits by an XF act as the lead artist. (JLS will still be ahead including 'Wishing On A Star' though).

XF acts by number of top 10 hits:

1 JLS [9]

2 Leona Lewis [7]

3 Alexandra Burke [5]

4 Olly Murs [4]

= Shayne Ward [4]

6 One Direction [3]

7 Cher Lloyd [2]

= Joe McElderry [2]

= Leon Jackson [2]

= Matt Cardle [2]

11 Chico [1]

= Diana Vickers [1]

= G4 [1]

= Jedward [1]

= Rebecca Ferguson [1]

= Steve Brookstein [1]

=4 The X Factor Finalists 20xx [4]

Urgh. Can people please download the original and best version by Darelen Love rather than that smarmy git?

will young??

Was in Pop Idol, not X Factor. But surprisingly he's "only" had 10 in his 10 year career.

will young??

He's not from the X Factor.

I think maybe Girls Aloud(?) have had the most top 10 hits of any artist from a UK talent show?

Hurt will do fine in his first week but I guess nothing after, it's a cover, it's not a good one... just OK, I don't and I think she needs to stop doing covers and make her own materiel (and not Colide of course, yak).

I'm sure most people are downloading this song because of Leona's vocal performance rather than the song itself. That's why her version is at #4 and Johnny Cash's is in the 40s.

Her version is a new release, Johnny's is from 2003. Johnny's wasn't exactly going to be higher :P But yes, there obviously must be interest in Leona's version since it's looking to go top 3. A cover isn't guaranteed success regardless of how big the original was. See Glee's version of Bohemian Rhapsody (i.e. the single most successful non-charity song of all time) missing the top 40, as an extreme example.

Leona's performance is about to get repeated on ITV1. I'm hoping it can boost Hurt to #3!

Well, I didn't see Johnny Cash being dragged out to a 15 million-strong audience last night. Half the people watching probably don't even know it's a cover.

Still, if Leona's vocal performance wasn't good enough, people wouldn't have tracked down her version on iTunes.

Glee gets a tiny audience in the UK, XFactor as a massive audience you cant compare them.

I know she struggles selling original songs but does have to sing so many covers  It will be interesting to see how she does when she releases her own material and without the xfactor behind her...or will SC be putting her on BGT.

Can't believe Leona is at #4. Absolutely astonished, did not see that coming AT ALL :o
Leona is smashing so hard right now :')

Lets be real here, she just performed on the X factor final, the song isn't already out on an album ect, so all of its sales are hugely front loaded. The fact that she is 'only' #4 when sales are so low right now is not 'smashing'
