So? If that's how they choose to live their lives then that hardly makes them idiots.

They are to me though!

If they have to wait till October to release an original single it will all end in tears

I don't think it would end in tears, but I would like something earlier. I hope they do songs like the Pussycat Dolls. I'd love them so much if they released something like Beep.

Little Minx will most probably release something during the summer a bit like JLS, Cher Lloyd and Olly Murs because they are pop acts, the more mature album acts from the xfactor seem to get held back until the christmas season!
Aha! A sensible answer. You make fair points about cross genre covers - that is where the 'anger' seems to lie with fans of the originals.

Still, nothing to get worked up about imo. The original often benefits though (Cannonball will) or the best known version (Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah) so it isn't all bad.

I agree, I really don't see why it's a bad thing for increased exposure meaning that a song (obviously intended to be heard if given a release in the public domain) is heard by as many people as possible.

Sure I don't like covers sometimes but I don't disapprove of them being done. Although pop artists don't always get away with covering pop songs. Atomic Kitten's version of Eternal Flame went down like a lead balloon at the time but I absolutely loved it :( And Glee are met with rather a lot of bile by many on this forum. It's not a show I watch anymore but I like (and have downloaded) a handful of their covers. If they've got an interesting element or structure to them, i.e. Thriller/Heads Will Roll then I don't see what the problem is. Why should fans of either Michael Jackson or The Yeah Yeah Yeahs be up in arms about it? It's giving increased exposure to the originals at the same time and surely that's only a good thing? But obviously not seeing as so many people seem to go off cult artists that they know of as soon as they become popular. I'm the opposite, I was elated when the likes of DJ Sammy, Sara Bareilles and Agnes scored huge hits here that I'd been loving for ages beforehand! Why wouldn't I want my favourite songs to be appreciated and heard by others, music shouldn't be a secret, it should be shared and enjoyed by as many people as possible.

Little Mix will knock 'Lego House' out of the top 10 :( Ah well, it's had a good run with six weeks top 10 and hopefully it should stay top 20 for a while longer.

 23. Cannonball - Damien Rice

 42. Cannonball - Damien Rice

If Flo Rida overtakes Lloyd into #8 (9 after Little Mix), the top version of this could knock Lloyd out of the top 10 :o Helping to eliminate competition for Coldplay to be the first new #1 of 2012 :kink:

YES, 7 songs top 100 :w00t: Hopefully at least the top 6 will make the official top 100 this week :D

Wouldn't the top version knock it to #10?

Imagine what Little Mix's sales would be if 'Cannonball' was released at 59p, should do around 350/400k anyway this week I would think.

No - it's currently #8, so will be #10 after Little Mix and Flo Rida overtake, then Damien's top version could knock it to #11.

25. Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want - Slow Moving Millie

72. One Big Family - Templecloud

89. Heavy Cross - Gossip

96. One Big Family - Templecloud

All benefiting from XF advertising.

How long did it take for Matt Cardle to get to number 1 last year? I wonder if it will be longer or shorter this year.

SMM always moves high up the itunes chart after the weekend and then all the way down!

He went straight in at #1 as soon as he was released due to having 3 months of pre-orders.

Has the winner's single been up for pre-order throughout the whole series this year? If so, the same thing will happen.

Genuinely shocked at a Little Mix win! :o Oh well, it's hopefully for the best for Marcus.

Bye bye Saturdays.

How long was it between when the single was released and when it went in at number 1?

In every other WEEK of the year this HUUUUGE gap will be more than enough for Coldplay... but not this week, I guess number 2 is for sure,

such a great song and I thought maybe pepole forgot about this song but apparently not :)

Why are you shocked Simon would never have wanted Marcus to win and even backed Little Mix.

I doubt Syco will give Marcus a deal.

Mariah is doing much better this year than last! It warms my heart to see the best Christmas song ever so high! Even if it's just because of the 59p reduction!
