January 11, 201213 yr The key to unlocking We Found Love is turning it up LOUD and then a bit louder. Incredible at top volume, less so playing it through laptop speakers  Pixie's career killer was far better than All About Tonight imo, shame nobody else cared :( Fantastic so far, look forward to the rest!
January 20, 201213 yr Author Next 10 coming in a bit! The key to unlocking We Found Love is turning it up LOUD and then a bit louder. Incredible at top volume, less so playing it through laptop speakers  Pixie's career killer was far better than All About Tonight imo, shame nobody else cared :( Fantastic so far, look forward to the rest! I do agree on WFL, it still doesn't hit me in quite the same as everyone else though :( Also agreed on WDYTMF (well actually I prefer AAT as you'll see), it should've been bigger :(
January 20, 201213 yr Author 60 From the album: 4 (year end number 15) Personal chart peak: UK chart peak: 3 Personal chart run: (4-8-11-7-9-15-21-30-33-40-39-53-62) After she burst back onto the scene with experimental party anthem Run The World (Girls), which didn't do quite as well as expected, the pressure was on for Bey to get a hit like previous eras. So with the next single she went for what she does best - R&B ballads. With the just the right timing of release and video, this managed to be a sizeable hit for her, even managing to reach number 1 on iTunes after her show stopping performance at Glastonbury! 59 From the album: Animal/Cannibal Personal chart peak: 6 UK chart peak: 32 Personal chart run: (17-xx-14-13-11-16-xx-6-11-13-18-21-24-22-26-33-34)*while chart was top 40 Quite how on EARTH this managed to flop so hard after a number 1, I have no idea... Geniunely one of her best songs for me, brilliant party track and less generic for her than usual. It sounds SO commercial as well, I'd love to know where it all went wrong... 58 Glee Cast - Pretending From the album: THe Music, Volume 6 Personal chart peak: 2 UK chart peak: 63 Personal chart run: (5-4-2-3-6-9-17-23-29-34)*while chart was top 40 Another Glee track now, this time an original. Sung by Finn and Rachel about theirn tremulous on/off relationship and produced by Ryan Tedder, this is a contempary sounding R&B ballad questioning when exactly the guys are just going to stop 'Pretending'. I love an emotional Finchel moment and this certainly it! 57 From the album: Sticks N Stones (year end number 13) Personal chart peak: 1 UK chart peak: 1 Personal chart run: (7-6-1-2-4-6-12-20-21-26-41-49-55) Yes, reallly. I honestly don't care that everyone hates this, because I geniunely do love it. I don't see what people find so awfully offensive on it, the lyrics might be a bit childish and the melody is like a nursery rhyme admitted, but it's SO catchy! I will admit swagger is an infuriating concept that can just f*** off though. Yes, I do realise I just listed all the reasons why it's hated, but I don't care :P 56 From the album: Battleground Personal chart peak: 9 UK chart peak: 1 Personal chart run: (12-9-11-13-18-19-23-29-32-33-35) BY FAR their best track. Finally they came out of 2003 and got with the trends. Sure, they may have swallowed Play & Win's computer but the Romanian dance sound works so well for them, it's a shame the didn't experiment with it more on the album :( This gave them a massive UK number 1 and is even making minor waves in the US now, well done lads! 55 From the album: Teenage Dream (2010 year end number 2) Personal chart peak: 9 UK chart peak: 20 Personal chart run: (37-xx-25-18-24-20-19-11-9-10-11-12-14-19-23-29-30) This is the 6th (and SURELY final?) single from Katy's brilliant 2nd album which has already given this countdown one entry. It wasn't as obvious an choice as perhaps Peacockn or Hummingbird Heartbeat, but I'm glad she didn't play it safe - this is a beautiful track and had a great video! Sadly it's very apt right now with her and Russell's divorce :( 54 Oh My! - Kicking & Screaming From the album: non-album track Personal chart peak: 8 UK chart peak: DNC Personal chart run: (29-28-32-10-11-13-17-23-22-21-28-33-32)*while chart was top 40 My 2nd favourite of my BJSC entries this year (obviously the first is to come)! These two girls are brilliant, remiscent of early Girls Aloud with a splash of Kate Nash and Bananarama. Sadly, they're failing to pick up much attention right now, so probably won't make it any further than the sampler they released :( 53 From the album: Birdy Personal chart peak: 12 UK chart peak: 17 Personal chart run: (16-12-19-23-30-37)*while chart was top 40 Such a beautiful cover of an already great song, can't believe she's only 14 :o So so talented for her age, I'm so glad Radio 1 pushed this so it became a long running top 20 hit and not just fade away! Sadly the album was a bit shit on the whole, her rendition of Young Blood was particularly awful... 52 From the album: Young Foolish Happy Personal chart peak: 4 UK chart peak: 1 Personal chart run: (11-8-5-4-4-7-8-10-11-16-23-58) This kind of came and went in both my chart and the UK chart, but I do think I was a bit harsh on it. It is VERY generic but it's a really fun and ultimately harmless song. Tbf it got boring quickly but it soon regrew, and thus overall it ends up at a respectable position in my EOY chart. The catastrophic fall out of the top 40 in particular was pretty unfair! 51 From the album: Loud (2010 year end number 1) Personal chart peak: 3 UK chart peak: 3 Personal chart run: (14-13-7-3-6-9-11-12-10-16-22-25-30-38)*while chart was top 40 Her again! This was the 3rd single from her 5th album Loud, which caused quite a stir for it's decidely sexual lyrics (as the title suggests :P) but managed to get her a 3rd consectutive top 3 hit. In particular, Radio 1 took issue with this song and rather annoyingly decided to edit the hell out of it and make it 'Come On'... Anyway, this is a great uptempo dance-pop track with suitably raunchy lyrics.
January 20, 201213 yr I assume we still have Faster, LadyKiller, All Fired Up, My Heart Takes Over to still come from The Saturdays
January 21, 201213 yr Author Faster and Ladykiller aren't singles so they aren't eligible :P They do have two entries coming however!
January 21, 201213 yr Are you not DONE yet? It'll be time for the 2012 EOY by the time you get to the top 20 :drama:
January 21, 201213 yr Author 50 From the album: TBA Personal chart peak: 1 UK chart peak: N/A (not released, 3 in Sweden) Personal chart run: (1-5-8-19-28-30-39-50-60-63-56-59)*still charting Perhaps a short lived number 1, slightly undeservedly so :( This was even enough to beat juggernaut Rihanna to the top when both this and We Found Love premiered in the same week! It fell pretty quickly in my chart though, mainly because it was busy rather than me going off it, and it's sticking around in the lower reaches of my chart! 49 From the album: she's obviously never going to release one  Personal chart peak: 4 UK chart peak: 60 Personal chart run:(4-7-10-12-17-22-22-28)*while chart was top 40 NOT EVEN ASHAMED. Not one bit. This is sooooo bad it's utterly amazing. The weird thing is that even though it's such a parody it gets it spot on, and I just couldn't stop listening to it at the time  Her follow-ups really failed to live up to this, even though she tried to be more 'serious' each time. IT'S FRIDAY. 48 Glee Cast - Thriller/Heads Will Roll From the album: The Music, Volume 5 Personal chart peak: 3 UK chart peak: 21 Personal chart run: Another mash-up from the Glee crew, this time Artie joins Queen Santana Of Life on vocals in a mash-up of MJ and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Strange as it sounds on paper, this totally works and is definitlely a throughly Glee affair whilst staying pretty faithful to the original versions. 47 From the album: Pink Friday (2010 year end number 4) Personal chart peak: 2 UK chart peak: 22 Personal chart run: (2-4-10-13-17-27-38)*while chart was top 40 This was Nicki's first hit in her own right, as Check It Out was a joint single with Will.I.AM and arguably he helped a hell of a lot to chart it. You could also say Drake helped M4L but we'll leave that for now :P This is a side of Nicki that doesn't get much love, mellow Nicki. She still raps with flow and conviction though, shouting out to her 'haters'. 46 From the album: Letters (year end number 17) Personal chart peak: 4 UK chart peak: 6 Personal chart run: (4-7-11-14-18-20-24-25-20-24-25-31-40-47-50-54-63)*still charting Regina deary, before you slate me for not having him number 1 and bowing at the godly feet of Master Cardle - be thankful that he is even here and I don't hate him like everyone else :P Anyway, I do not get the hate for this, he was a deserved winner of X-Factor (even if I died a little inside that Queen Rebecca lost out) and this was exactly the path I wanted for him. Credible (well, -ish) pop/rock, his way and not being pushed into anything generic and un-him just for the sake of getting a hit. 45 From the album: + (year end number 19) Personal chart peak: 7 UK chart peak: 4 Personal chart run: (32-26-26-22-19-15-14-8-8-23-26-42-47-58-64-67) I am one of the few people to hold this opinion, but I think this is a LOT better than The A Team! Sadly, that had cemented him as a new, soppy singer-songwriter for girls to fawn over and wish that the song was about them, so this edgier, partly rapped track (a former fan favourite given the revamp treatment) didn't go quite as well with the public, 'only' hitting number 4 and falling fairly quickly. I don't resent The A Team being lead single though, because if it wasn't, Ed may not have had all the success that he has done this year! 44 From the album: 4 (year end number 15) Personal chart peak: 7 UK chart peak: 11 Personal chart run: (7-11-13-17-18-19-21-22-23-25-28-33-40)*while chart was top 40 It's safe to say Bey's 2nd and final entry was a polarising choice of lead single.... It didn't go down too well with most critics, and a lot of people on here hated it! It had plenty of love though, including from me. I don't usually like 'edgy' Beyonce, because in songs like Video Phone and Diva, the melody is just swallowed up and they're all a mess... This however is amazing, the Pon De Floor sample (well more than sample, she's nicked the whole instrumental :P) compliments her rapid vocals really well and I just don't get the hate for it at all... 43 From the album: Ceremonials (year end number 9) Personal chart peak: 4 UK chart peak: 24 Personal chart run: (4-5-19-24-38-44-43-53-55-60-70-70-71-75) Even though this was only a buzz single for the album, it certainly set my excitement in motion! I loved it on first listen, it was classic Florence but showed a more stripped back direction may have been coming for her. It did pretty well chartwise too for the lack of promo/airplay, reaching top 10 on iTunes within the first day of release! 42 From the album: Who You Are (year end number 20) Personal chart peak: 2 UK chart peak: 1 Personal chart run: (15-2-2-4-4-8-11-16-23-30-34)*while chart was top 40 Next up we have the 2nd of 4 entries for 2011's biggest new artist Jessie J! SHe exploded onto the scene with Do It Like A Dude, and then followed it up with this carefree breezy pop track, which immediately hit number 1 despite being a crucial pilot to the then brand new 'On-air, on-sale' release strategy with little airplay. Eventually, it ended the year as the 3rd biggest seller of 2011. I have to admit overplay has hit this a little, but I do still love it and hence why its here! 41 From the album: Doo-Wops & Hooligans Personal chart peak: 6 UK chart peak: 1 Personal chart run: (28-19-6-14-21-24-28-34)*while chart was top 40 Criminal peak/run for this tbh. I love it far more than this suggests, it's by miles the best thing on the album! I'm glad this was a huge number 1, however the same cannot be said for the bloody Lazy Song :puke: A perfect R&B/pop ballad, perhaps with slightly cheesy lyrics, that totally deserved to be one of 2011's biggest hits!
January 21, 201213 yr Author And now shizz gets serious... :o 40 From the album: On Your Radar (year end number 5) Personal chart peak: 1 UK chart peak: 15 Personal chart run: (2-1-2-3-5-8-14-25-37-42-51)*still charting Kicking off the big 40 is the 2nd of 3 entries for my favourite girlband! This was the 3rd single and launch single for their 3rd album (Headlnes excluded - it's an EP) On Your Radar, and is a typical girlband ballad affair - warm and satisfying, just what you want in winter! However, it really the best single choice at all and it certainly wasn't the song to launch the album in the best way possible! Despite hectic promo, My Heart Takes Over became the 2nd Saturdays single to miss top 10 (after Work peaked at 21 in 2009) and led to the album flopping in at 23. The next few months are CRUCIAL for the girls... 39 Wynter Gordon - Dirty Talk From the album: With The Music I Die (year end number 2) Personal chart peak: 2 UK chart peak: 25 Personal chart run: (9-13-20-xx-2-2-3-6-13-22-30-34)*while chart was top 40 The 3rd and final entry from Wynter is her biggest (using that term very loosely in terms of the UK) hit, a playful and flirty house-pop track. It was a number 1 dance hit in the US and was number 1 for 5 weeks in Australia. The UK were over a year late to the party as per, and this may have been a reason why DT didn't perform quite as well here. But at least it made the top 40 and it did stick around for a few weeks which was great! 38 Joe Jonas - See No More From the album: Fastlife Personal chart peak: 2 UK chart peak: 53 Personal chart run: (8-5-2-5-14-24-30-33-34-35-38-xx-14-28-40-44-51-54-59-66) And here it is - my favourite entry of mine in BJSC :o I doubt many of you were expecting it to be this, but hey it is! Such a shame that it didn't qualify, I know it's generic but Joe does it so well - if it was by a female, you'd lap it all up -_- :P 37 From the album: Greatest Hits... So Far Personal chart peak: 1 UK chart peak: 10 Personal chart run: (7-3-3-1-4-6-10-14-20-22-28-31)*while chart was top 40 Yet another 'ooh you are so perfect just as you are' anthem? Well yes, but no. This isn't a cliche like the others at all, it has that something speical. It is pretty uplifting, at the same time as harrowingly emotional (when coupled with the video at least) - and all while being laden with classic Pink characteristics. This is definitely going down as one of my favourite Pink tracks! 36 Glee Cast - I Feel Pretty/Unpretty From the album: The Music, Volume 6 Personal chart peak: 3 UK chart peak: 36 Personal chart run: (2-3-9-16-23-24-27-30-32-38)*while chart was top 40 And here is the highest charting Glee entry, another mash-up. This time Rachel blends her talents with Quinn to craft a wonderful mash-up of TLC and West Side Story, which they perform in a scene where Rachel contemplates a nose job. It fits the scene very well, although it's not the best performance on the show... 35 From the album: TBA (at least she better bloody do one!) Personal chart peak: 4 UK chart peak: N/A (not released, DNC in Sweden) Personal chart run: (45-5-7-9-13-17-24-23-27-35-45-54-60-72) BJSC again, but we get to the absolute pinnacle of quality with the 2nd best winner this year. This is what Scandipop is all about, a soaring euphoric track laden with bittersweet hooks. This woman is really going to make Scandipop more exciting over the next year, especially with her Melodifestivalen entry to look forward to! 34 From the album: Love? (year end number 14) Personal chart peak: 3 UK chart peak: 8 Personal chart run: (12-3-3-4-7-15-19-19-16-18-25-25-35)*when chart was top 40 Probably 2011's most unexpected comeback (Xtina somehow being on a million selling song aside), J-Lo managed to get two top 10 hits this year, including a megahit number 1 that has become the biggest hit of her career! This was the follow-up - a sunny slice of island R&B/pop that borrows straight from the common formula used to sound like What's My Name by Rihanna. But, dare I say it, I think J-Lo does it better (I've always found WMN overrated though I do like it), and I'm really happy she managed to get a 2nd hit out of it! 33 From the album: TBA Personal chart peak: 4 UK chart peak: 75 Personal chart run: (36-41-35-33-34-20-8-10-17-27-25-21-14-4-4-7)*still charting SUCH a tune! Azealia's gonna be huge in 2012, but I included this on this list as it's her Do It Like A Dude, just a taster of what's to come. 212 mixes rap, heavy club beats and one hell of a filthy mouth to create one of the year's freshest tracks. She is definitely going to excite me in 2012 with whatever she comes out with, especially if it's as good as this :o 32 From the album: Who You Are (year end number 21) Personal chart peak: 8 UK chart peak: 8 Personal chart run: (4pl-8-10-11-22-27-30)*while chart was top 40 This girl again : P This was the follow-up to the massive Price Tag, sadly overshadowed by it's massive success and it didn't do quite as well as it maybe should :( It give her a 3rd top 10 however, and had a great video. Musically, it's a mid-tempo R&B influenced track on how everybody has flaws and makes mistakes. 31 From the album: Stronger (year end number 3) Personal chart peak: 1 UK chart peak: 4 Personal chart run: (1-1-1-3-6-10-12-6-5-6-7-15-24-31-34-42-43-45-48)*still charting This is actually the lowest number 1 to spend more than a week there (it topped for 3 weeks) in this countdown :o Kelly is my favourite singer ever, so obviously I was going to love whatever she put out  This was a shock though, a mellow pop track with R&B elements remiscent of Bruno Mars - and it gave her a UK top 5 hit and a 3 week number 1 on my chart. Edited January 21, 201213 yr by Liаm
January 22, 201213 yr Author 30 From the album: Electra Heart Personal chart peak: 7 UK chart peak: 25 Personal chart run: (7-7-7-12-14-14-18-20-28-32-40-50-55-67) Again, criminal peak/run - except this time I can say the same for what it did in the official chart too :( Despite claims she had 'sold out', I think that this new sound really works for her - it's typically mainstream whilst still being very Marina and unique. Sadly this didn't translate to success as this didn't even make top 20... I have doubts aboutthe album being released too, I do hope I'm proved wrong though as I think if this sound flows through the entire album then it could be even better than THe Family Jewels... 29 From the album: Who You Are Personal chart peak: 1 UK chart peak: 8 Personal chart run: (37-24-20-18-xx-38-47-56-xx-1-2-5-10-13-15)*still charting God, it seems all I do is go on about Jessie  But this is her highest entry, so I can shut up about her now :P This is her personal favourite track on the album, and I have to say it's mine too. Ever since I heard the sampler over a year ago, this track stood out big time as an honest and emotional heartfelt track, you can tell Jessie wrote this at a low. I can see why people don't like it, and her voice on it for that matter, but for me the vulnerability in her voice is a part of what makes it for me. 28 From the album: When The Sun Goes Down Personal chart peak: 1 UK chart peak: 58 Personal chart run: (4-1-3-4-7-12-17-19-24-33-41-50-64-71) With Who Says, it seemed that maybe Selena hadn't progressed in sound at all since last era. But then this came onto the scene (pun slightly intended :P)... It signalled a new, mature dance sound for Selena, and it worked wonders for her. It gave her another US hit, despite a low peak it stuck around and beat the odds with Hollywood notoriously handling her awfully! It also managed to do as well as Who Says in being a (very) minor UK hit with hardly any airplay or promo. 27 Lana Del Rey - Video Games/ From the album: Born To Die Personal chart peak: 6 UK chart peak: 9 Personal chart run: (3pl-xx-21-17-13-6-8-10-12-23-35-46-39-43-44-40-36-26)*still charting Yes, I'm putting the double A-Side together, seperate comments for each too :P Video Games - And here we have it. The ulimate BJSC winner of 2011. Criminally, I didn't even give it 12 points in it's contest (:o) - that honour went to Pia Toscano (I think that was the same contest?), who is decidedly absent from this top 100 :kink: Anyway, what matters is now. This 'Hollywood sadcore' track didn't even capture 50% of voters in it's contest but the points it did get were more than enough for it to walk to the victory for Isconia (Grebo). And months later, it popped up on the 'In New Music We Trust' list on Radio 1 and I thought 'could it be a minor hit?' and squeed a little, and then it moved all the way up to A-List :o It even managed top 10, and I felt like a proud parent  Blue Jeans - As the 'other side' to the double A-Side, perhaps this should be overshadowed? But god no, this is even better! I once read Grebo describe this as 'utter heartbreak encapsulated in 4 minutes', and that is just the perfect description. Nothing more neeeded. 26 From the album: TBA Personal chart peak: DNC UK chart peak: N/A (9 in Sweden) Personal chart run: N/A Yep, you read right. A DNC in my year end chart! And this is pretty much the reason I'd never do this on points. The reason why it didn't chart is because I only partially followed Melodifestivalen last year and this meant that I missed this initally. When I did discover what I'd missed, I just thought it was too late to rechart, but it had to make some impact here! Good to have some shocks :P As with Sober, this does the whole bittersweet soaring chorus so well, and is a shining example of Scandipop. 25 From the album: Here I Am Personal chart peak: 4 UK chart peak: 169 (:() Personal chart run: (8-9-4-7-12-15-20-22-28-30-32-34-xx-69-73-68-69-74-72-69-68-65-69-69-70-68-72-67-69-70-71) Next up is former Destiny's Child Kelly Rowland with the first single from her album Here I Am. EASILY her best single since Stole, Motivation is a sexy, sultry and confident R&B track with a sprinkle of Lil' Wayne in one of his better guest raps. If only there was more of this sound on Here I Am done this well, it would've been a much better album! Also, I love the part of this chart run after the xs  24 From the album: Mir So Nah (year end number 7) Personal chart peak: 5 UK chart peak: N/A (31 in Germany) Personal chart run: (27-22-5-6-15-24-33-48-59-65-67) Off to Germany for some German language R&B/soul :o This is the first of two foreign language tracks in the top 40, and I don't even remember how I discovered it? This is a great chilled R&B track that wouldn't sound of place on an album by Alicia Keys. It seems Germany don't share my love for this, as the Mir So Nah era was seen as a bit of a flop comeback for Cassandra... 23 Wynter Gordon - 'Til Death From the album: With The Music I Die (year end number 2) Personal chart peak: 4 UK chart peak: DNC Personal chart run: (9-4-7-10-12-18-22-27-25-30-34-xx-33-xx-21-15-25-29-33-40-43-52) This had a very long run on my personal chart! It was the follow-up to her minor hit Dirty Talk, in the same vein but sadly did absolutely nothing here :( Which is a shame because this (and the whole album!) is a dance-pop gem that really would've made a fabulous edition to the charts had it been big! 22 From the album: Pink Friday (year end number 4) Personal chart peak: 4 UK chart peak: 8 Personal chart run: (12-11-9-12-7-4-8-8-12-25-35-34-40-47-52-68-70) Nicki's highest entry is also her biggest UK hit and Popjustice's top single of 2011, and her poppiest outing to date. Ester Dean provides the chorus (even though I'm the only person in the universe who actually bothers to credit her...) to a cute yet still thoroughly Nicki rap track laden with pop sensibility. 21 From the album: Ceremonials (year end number 9) Personal chart peak: 1 UK chart peak: 12 Personal chart run: (2-3-1-4-9-8-9-9-11-13-15-26-31-37-41-43)*still charting This is the highest entry for Florence, the first proper single from her long awaited 2nd album Ceremonials. Like Shake It Out, this signalled new ground for Florence - this time it was dangerously pop laden with gothic hints and signature Florence howls. I have no idea how it missed top 10 as a single, absolutely stunned  ------ From now on, 5 songs per post from 11-20, and then the top 10 one by one :D At a faster pace of course :P
January 22, 201213 yr I hope 2NE1 appears in this as I scanned your Top 100 so far and no sign of them
January 22, 201213 yr Author That was honestly not intentional  --------- 20 Lady Gaga - Marry The Night cggNqDAtJYU From the album: Born This Way (year end number 1) Personal chart peak: 1 UK chart peak: 16 Personal chart run: (3-3-3-4-3-1-1-3-4-5-6-8-10-11)*still charting As you can probably guess, this is the lowest of the BTW singles to chart here, but nontheless I obviously do love it! From the day the album was released, this was an instant fan favourite and I loved it, I think it should've been released as a single earlier (even though I prefer the previous singles to it) because it could've been the smash this era needed! Somehow this managed to peak only at 16 despite an X-Factor performance, CIN performance and loads of other promo :( 19Olly Murs - Dance With Me Tonight F3EG4olrFjY From the album: In Case You Didn't Know (year end number 6) Personal chart peak: 2 UK chart peak: 1 Personal chart run: (19-22-25-29-16-6-2-3-4-7-7-8-10)*still charting MY HUSBAND <3 When he's not busy being the world's sexiest man hands down and flaunting his god given amazing arse and bulge in tight trousers, Olly also makes some damn good music (with me, we're getting sweaty hot and heavy in the crowd now :phr43:). Anyway, I'll stop whoring and embarrasing myself now  This is a brilliant retro sounding track that could easily fitted into the 50s and yet still sounds so fresh! An X-Factor performance with Miss Piggy saw this rise in popularity and eventually gave Sexy a 3rd UK number 1. Initially I was REALLY disappointed but it ended up being a gradual slow grower and is now one of my top Olly tracks after a couple of months! Oh and don't worry Olly, I'll dance with you all night ;) 18 Jennifer Lopez ft. Pitbull - On The Floor t4H_Zoh7G5A From the album: Love? (year end number 14) Personal chart peak: 1 UK chart peak: 1 Personal chart run: (5-8-15-25-18-9-5-1-2-2-2-3-4-5-7-11-17-24-25-28-32-30-28-34-38)*while chart was top 40 There's no denying this has been the year of the surprise hit, and this is the start of 2011's trend. Somehow, a 42 year old woman who hasn't had a top 10 since 2005 managed to have a mega selling number 1 which was the biggest song of her career! And well deserved it was too, utilising the Lamabada sample perfectly to craft an absolute Euro banger! 17 Nicole Scherzinger - Don't Hold Your Breath z4nKOzk8qbw From the album: Killer Love (year end number 8) Personal chart peak: 2 UK chart peak: 1 Personal chart run: (9-8-10-2-7-4-3-4-5-7-13-20-23-30-34)*while chart was chart 40 And here's another shock hit of 2011! Nicole had managed a top 3 with her 364th 'debut' single in yet another desperate attempt at a solo career, but this came along and blew me away. It was absolutely amazing, up there the best of PCD imo. And then it somehow managed to sneak a week at number 1, which I was delighted with! This marked the start of a fairly succcessful year for Nicole, until the furore around her decision to boot Rachel off of US X-Factor  16 Rihanna - Calfornia King Bed nhBorPm6JjQ From the album: Loud (2010 year end number 1) Personal chart peak: 1 UK chart peak: 8 Personal chart run: (13-15-17-2pl-20-11-10-1-5-11-21-27-38-39-42-46-51-54-61-65-71-70-75) Finally we have the highest entry from Rihanna! This is my 2nd fave track on Loud (behind Man Down which REALLY should've been a single -_-) - perhaps not the best single choice but it's a lovely track in which Rihanna gives her best vocal performance to date imo in front of an acoustic background almost remiscent of 70s/80s rock power ballads in places.
