The girl group releases this year so far have been amazing, with Girl's Day being the best. They're all basically taking the "Alone" concept from SISTAR but making it better.

Whilst the k-pop world waits for Crush and Mr Mr MV's how about a bit of new TVXQ to tickle our fancy.

TVXQ haven't really impressed recently and "Something" being the inferior song of the two Somethings released in January, Spellbound is incredibly boring itself as well.

Time to like bump this thread up and self-speak ONCE AGAIN. For those reading out there (a maximum number of 1-2), here are some new releases which may be of interest to you!

BoA - MASAYUME CHASING

(The chorus of this song is simply magnificent. Coupled with a simple yet effect set of dance moves, BoA has once again delivered another decent Japanese single since like forever)

f(x) - Red Light

(Oh dear where to start. Starting with the fiasco currently brewing with a member known by Sulli, has magically 'taken' a break after only promoting the song for 2 weeks it seems like the group is doomed as their record label is launching a new replacement for them, or so it seems from the eyes of a casual K-Pop fan. Back onto the song, it can be described as "all over the place/hectic/crazy" electro-pop with a disjointed chorus which works in my opinion, effectively after a couple of spins. A fan of Girls' Generation's bizarre recent releases such as I Got a Boy? Then check this out)

Hyun A - Red

(The queen of tacky outfits and imagery along with being an early days Britney-clone except born in South Korea, Hyun A is back once again with an urban-pop tune. Filled with her attempts of 'singing' sparsely throughout the song and heavy usage of rap lines, the song is....interesting to say the least and may take a while to digest for most. However, the music video is definitely one to watch as it's simply fabulous and filled with the qualities of what a shining solo star should resemble)

Girl's Day - Darling

(Everyday Girl's Day!! Yes they're back once again with their second comeback of the year after the overly sexual but rather popular "Something", but this time with a slight change of theme by toning down and returning to their cute roots which initially made them popular. Darling can be described as a safe, summer tune but not overly *.* worthy. Still though, it's a decent song for a weather like this!)

SISTAR - Touch My Body

(Not sick of the previous summer tune yet? Here's another one lined up! Top-tier girl group of K-Pop, SISTAR, returns with a summer melody with the help of a producer not known as Brave Brothers for once. If you think the usage of trumpets and saxophones is highly overrated since the explosion of them in the western scene with the likes of Jason Derulo and Ariana Grande, then I recommend you to skip this song. How would I describe it...a highly catchy and infectious song with a distinct hook prominent throughout the song and a set of "omg I'm a dog and I need to poo!" dance choreography moves visible during the chorus scenes)

'Mayasume Chasing' is certainly a beaut, I'm not big fan of BoA and I'm not normally a fan of something as cutesy as that but I really can't deny how catchy it is, and the dance routine is indeed very nice. 'Red Light' however, I'm not so much a fan of.

I'm a bit confused about the f(x) situation though, why on Earth would the label want to replace them? I thought they were among the most successful girl groups in Korea now, regardless of one of them going awol during promotion.

Agreed on HyunA, the song is mediocre as I usually find with her but the video is quite fabulous (which again is usual for her, she needs to put less effort into her visuals and more into her music ). I've not listened to the Girl's Day song, but I'll get back to you on that tomorrow.

So gonna listen to these later! Need to get some new K-Pop BACK into my life.

*MAYASUME CHASING -_-

The f(x) situation is certainly interesting as a lawsuit is currently happening within SM Entertainment (the record label of BoA, f(x), Girls' Generation, Super Junior, EXO, SHINee, etc) concerning the biggest K-Pop boy band right now, EXO. Kris, a member of the group is filing charges against SM Entertainment for not looking after his health and cites his degrading health as the reason to quit the company and exterminate the contract to which he technically is still bound to. This is the same case as TVXQ (yet again back then was the biggest boy group) with 3 members leaving the group and forming another boy band, JYJ, as a result. Super Junior also had a case which had a Chinese member known as Hangeng leaving the group and filing a lawsuit against the record label for the lack of consideration of his health. NOW....f(x)'s Sulli is currently taking a 'time off due to health issues' according to SM Entertainment but they didn't say anything about her leaving the group. As a result, the promotions for "Red Lights" ended incredibly early despite a couple of days prior to this announcement, Sulli announced her intentions of promoting a bit longer than usual (as f(x) normally promote for 3 weeks max during any era). Fans have now speculated a similar situation might be rising. On top of this mess, SM Entertainment is debuting a new girl group with teasers for the members published yesterday which infuriated f(x) fans as they think the new girl group will simply 'replace' f(x) and thus the record label will shove all the attention to it and disregard f(x) matters.

Sit back and enjoy them while you can later! :D

I actually have a recommendation for you seeing as you're a big fan of R&B music! The song below is currently the biggest selling K-Pop song in Korea this year and not without a reason as it's an absolute tune! Do also check it out if you wish.

I don't acknowledge random capitalisation of K-Pop titles :D

Poor Sulli :o I hope she doesn't end up leaving even though I don't really care for f(x) too much. SM really need to stop treating their artists like crap, what happens if SNSD split?

I listened to 'Darling', and it is decent. It's certainly no 'Expectation' but for a more relaxed song it's OK. It's no 'Happy' though ^_^

They mean nothing, except for the name of the artist/brand itself.

It's not that they treat them like crap, more like individuals use their success as an excuse to get away from it and cause controversy and break free which may mean they earn more money with a better contract. SNSD won't split because if they were going to, it'd be done ages ago. The girls have constantly said that SNSD is not one without all 9 and if any members decide to break from the group, the entire group will simply disband.

Darling >>>>> Happy and that shitty song.

HA:TFELT - Ain't Nobody

(Yenny from the famous K-Pop girl group, Wonder Girls, has released her solo debut with an ultra-powerful song "Ain't Nobody" featuring a dubstep chorus along with a blast of vocal chords accompanied with it. For those familiar with Buzzjack Song Contest, a song which is rather similar to this would be Lindsey Stirling's "Shatter Me". A song which blew me out due to the low expectations of it initially (Sunmi from Wonder Girls also released a solo debut last year but was terrible), it did not disappoint at all!)

That is one of the best K-Pop tracks I've heard all year. Not surprised given the comparisons but that's some serious power and I've never thought much of Wonder Girls before so I'm surprised to see she's from there. :o

(Shatter Me will go far beyond the contest , is huge iconic hit in many countries)

Em, I beg to differ with it comes to "best K-Pop tracks I've heard all year". It's amazing but not 11111111111111/10 material! Wonder Girls is amazing and their iconic hit known as "Nobody" is still life changing!

(Shatter Me will only smash in Séyetana and that's about it)

Could f(x) leave SM and try and get a new label or will SM try and ban their activities? I've never witnessed a group with so much potential have so little effort and time put into them. I hadn't heard about Kris from Exo filing against the company, surely that will be a massive deal if he leaves as Exo must be one of SMs' biggest acts now. Is Kris a very popular member he's the only one I actually know but that doesn't mean much. >.< I really don't know much about how the industry works in S. Korea, but with the amount of cases filed against SM Entertainment, surely an independent investigation has happened at some point in how they treat their staff. I may be wrong but I thought the other members who filed against them won their cases? Unless, they were just freed up from their contracts but SM weren't seen as doing any wrong. Anyone able to shed some light on my ignorance?

The thing is though, it hasn't been confirmed that Sulli from f(x) is having a problem with SM Ent. at all so nothing is set. Kris trying to leave EXO is a bit weird but a lot of artists do reap the benefit that once they're hot, they strike immediately just to get out of contracts and gain better profit somewhere else so I'm not all that surprised. In terms of popularity within EXO, I have no idea if Kris is popular at all as I'm not overly fussed on them. Girls' Generation still remains intact with no complaints so the label isn't doing all that wrong it seems.

09.0 SISTAR - Touch My Body >> This is amazing. <<

08.5 BoA - MASAYUME CHASING >> As is this. BoA is quite hit and miss for me, but this is definitely hit! <<

08.0 HA:TFELT - Ain't Nobody >> Definitely get the 'Shatter Me' comparisons. I think I slightly prefer this, but just as with 'Shatter Me' it's not quite as orgasmic as some would suggest it would be. <<

08.0 Hyun A - Red >> This is good too. It'll need a couple more listens I think, but I like what I've heard! <<

07.0 Girl's Day - Darling >> Although decent, it's no 'Expectation'! <<

05.5 f(x) - Red Light >> What a mess. Not in a good 'I Got A Boy' way either! SO disappointed! <<

Aww that's quite cute. Nowhere near the level of BoA or SISTAR for me, but I like that!

Red Velvet have just launched their single and video, 'Happiness'

The song is decent, but that's it. The video is cool though, if rather random and all over the place.

I'm so disappointed that not many people enjoy f(x)'s Red Light! I for one think it is absolutely fabulous and fierce for a K-Pop song!

YES I was going to post that as well. At first I was very "eh" at it as they're the new girl group from SM Entertainment but the rap parts pre-chorus make the song so so SO much up to the point where I massively adore it now! Shame the music video is plastered with controversy regarding images of the Hiroshima bombings and 9/11 attacks in the actual thing oops. :(

oricon you should have SO sent red light / HyunA (not ashamed). MASAYUME CHASING is ok tho and better than the rest-- Ain't Nobody in particular is predictably awful (sry iz).
