She tried to bluff her way out of that in the interview but Mrs Gould was having none of it. Arguing about whether the decision was right or wrong was the Tories' was of deflecting attention from the fact that Thatcher lied. Whatever people may think, it is very rare for a politician to tell a blatant lie in the Commons. Even when Blair told the Commons about Iraq'a WMD, I think he really believed it at the time. His failing was that he didn't ask enough questions of the intelligence services before making the statement, probably because he was afraid that he wouldn't like some of the answers.
