December 21, 201114 yr If Coldplay are on 21,748 today, what are they likely to sell for the whole week? Also, with that lead Alex Day could stay top 5.

December 21, 201114 yr Author posted by OCC at Twitter: Out of all @Milwiveschoir sales this week, 73% have been CDs. This equates to a massive 982% week-on-week increase in the CD singles market! ===== Phew!!, blow me :o

Had their been a viable new release they probably could have been beaten on the download chart but of course the Christmas chart has been killed. I do wonder how they calculated demand for this. HMV seemed to know this was going to be a giant success before we did. (By the way, I'm watching the TOTP2 Christmas special and they are showing music videos with the 'live' performances. So depressing.) Edited December 21, 201114 yr by Paramore

I still like my CDs and they are always a good Christmas present if you are cheap

I still like my CDs and they are always a good Christmas present if you are cheap  When you have a good sound system you can really appreciate it. Little computer speakers don't cut it. I use spotify to product test the music then buy physical if I like it. If I just like songs and not really albums I download them and burn them to CD.
December 21, 201114 yr Ooh, just seen Heart Skips A Beat is back in the top 40 again today (at #36) :D Great to see this having so much longevity, hopefully it can climb a few more places before Sunday with the 59p boost. Lana Del Rey is back up to #31 - why IS she climbing so much actually? I assumed she'd only gone up to about 38 or 39 yesterday. Edited December 21, 201114 yr by Michael Bubré
December 21, 201114 yr Didnt expect take that as high as #12, i was sure top 15 meant #15 for them, hopefully they can stay within the top 15 now come sunday.
December 22, 201114 yr As if the Military Wives' sales weren't stratospheric enough already, don't forget they're performing the song on Graham Norton's TV show on Friday night. Remember what it did for Coldplay! On top of that, the whole three-part series about the choir gets another airing tonight (Thu), edited together as one 90 minute programme. I wouldn't be surprised if some hmv stores run out of the single on Saturday!
December 22, 201114 yr Great to see the midweek sales! I'm glad Little Mix seem comfortable for #2 at the very least. :)

December 22, 201114 yr Now C+ is here, I can reveal that Military Wives charted at #144 on leaks last week - I estimate on ~1.9k sales (mostly physical as they weren't T200 on downloads).
December 22, 201114 yr From viewing the midweeks on BBC Radio 1 website, I wonder if Take That are even in with a shout of climbing into the top 10 albums as they currently stand at climbing 6 places to number 12.
December 22, 201114 yr I doubt even Candle In The Wind managed *that*. :P Maybe because everything else was selling on CD as well?
December 22, 201114 yr Author oooh, just found yesterday mid report online its added to the first page, second post. And so far there are no mids for today, fingers cross we get some, as I can't see it happening
December 22, 201114 yr OCC says that Military Wives are on 390,000 as of today - makes around 70,000 yesterday!! http://www.theofficialcharts.com/chart-new...elling-singles/

December 22, 201114 yr I tell you what - if 6 months ago you'd have said the XF Winners single would be outsold 6-1 on Xmas week, you'd immediately have been dragged off to the loony bin! :w00t: Edited December 22, 201114 yr by vidcapper
December 22, 201114 yr So, if the sales are steady they're looking for 390+210=600k. Realistically I think they will be selling 50-60k a day today and on Friday but massively on Saturday, maybe over 100k.

Last minute Christmas shopping on Friday and Saturday will probably give it a huge boost. I think 50k today, 70k on Friday and then 120k+ on Saturday!
