December 24, 201113 yr The sales for the top 2 in this chart were: Robbie and Nicole 98,506 Daniel Bedingfield 67,000 Not bad sales but not brilliant either...
December 24, 201113 yr How much did Saviours Day sell in 1990?108,000 copies in Christmas week, which was the lowest selling #1 for Christmas week since the early 1960s.
December 24, 201113 yr Author Suppose even now on christmas week we have MWC at half a million and even in 2005 Shayne Ward sold 700k so 100k for an artist like Robbie was poor enough. I was checking the month afters chart and it seemed a bit slow then - we didnt have a new no1 until mid Jan with Ailiyah, Puretones, Jay-Z,Dr Dre, Dj Alligator and the wonderful Lange with Drifting Away. It wasnt until 2003/04 that sales became ridiculously bad as well, wasnt it? Then things recovered in 2007 with downloads being added!
December 24, 201113 yr 01.Robbie Williams And Nicole Kidman - Somethin' Stupid - Not to keen on this. 02.Daniel Bedingfield - Gotta Get Thru This - Tuuuuuuuuuuuune, would have been worthier imo! :cheer: 03.Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Murder On The Dancefloor - Again another classic :cheer: 04.Stereophonics - Handbags And Gladrags - Meh. 05.Ian Van Dahl - Will I - Decent dance tune. 06.Samantha Mumba - Lately - Gorgeous song  07.S Club 7 - Have You Ever - Another good ballad  08.PPK - ResuRection - Don't remember. 09.Tweenies - I Believe In Christmas  10.Hermes House Band - Country Roads  11Kate Winslet - What If  - If anyone deserved it, should have been Kate. 12.Feeder - Just A Day EP - Don't know it. 13.Janet Jackson - Son Of A Gun (Betcha Think This Song Is About You) ft Carly Simon - Awful sample and song. 14.Steps - Words Are Not Enough/I Know Him So Well - I liked this. 15.Kosheen - Catch - What happened to them? 16.Sum 41 - In Too Deep - This was rather good. 17.Riva - Who Do You Love Now (Stringer) ft Dannii Minogue - As was this :) 18.Cliff Richard - Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What A Wonderful World - Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I remember the video to this was very cheap, 19.Hear'Say - Everybody - A rip-off of a 5ive song. 20.Emma Bunton - We're Not Gonna Sleep Tonight - This was decent. 21.Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head - Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove. 22.Westlife - Queen Of My Heart - This was one of their better songs. 23.Blue - If You Come Back - Their best single. 24.DJ Otzi - Hey Baby - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :puke2: 25.Michael Jackson - Cry - :puke2: :puke2: :puke2: :puke2: :puke2: :puke2: Worst song ever. 26.Afroman - Because I Got High - I hate this. 27.DJ Otzi - Do Wah Diddy - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 28.Alcazar - Crying At The Discoteque - Good sample. 29.Alicia Keys - Fallin' - Classic, if overplayed. 30.Geri Halliwell - Calling - Deserved better, beautiful song. 31.Jennifer Lopez - I'm Real - The original, very good pop song......remix awful. 32.Destiny's Child - Emotion - Nah. 33.Liberty - Doin' It - Don't know. 34.Basement Jaxx - Where's Your Head At - Don't like. 35.Oxide And Neutrino - Rap Dis/Only Wanna Know U Cos Ure Famous - Don't wanna know. 36.Starsailor - Lullaby - Can't remember, 37.iio - Rapture - Another big dance tune. December 25, 201113 yr 15.Kosheen - Catch - What happened to them? Their vocalist had a #1 hit this year :P
December 25, 201113 yr Really great ones: 12.PPK - ResuRection 14.Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head - the best of the chart by far 20.Riva - Who Do You Love Now (Stringer) ft Dannii Minogue - Dannii's finest, excellent 22.Kosheen - Catch Great ones: 04.Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Murder On The Dancefloor 27.Alcazar - Crying At The Discoteque 36.iio - Rapture Good: 07.Ian Van Dahl - Will I 11.Kate Winslet - What If And quite a few other more or less decent songs. December 25, 201113 yr Christ, i didnt realise that.....its made me quite happy actually *changes personal chart artist history*I didn't know that either. I love "Louder", now I love it even more!
December 25, 201113 yr 108,000 copies in Christmas week, which was the lowest selling #1 for Christmas week since the early 1960s. Are you sure that this figure is right Robbie? I can't find any mention in MW of the time but I know that back in July 1988 when Glenn Medeiros sold over 100K MW notes that no record had sold over 100k in any week since Rick Astley back in Aug 87 so that the Xmas No 1 for 87 (PSB's with "Always On My Mind" must have sold less than Cliff in 1990? I have a figure of 155k for that week (though don;t ask me where I've got that from over the years!) :)
December 25, 201113 yr Author I can't see how "Somethin' Stupid" is very Christmassy at all. Suppose it isnt but i only ever hear it in December, the video is quite xmassy for me and the song at the time was different to something Robbie would have done - slow ballad bit like the Westlife xmas no1 in 1999!

I haven't seen the video, but the song does go well with the rest of the "Swing While You're Winning" CD (which I played in the car on Thursday)
