My views on your top 50 then!

01. Kati Wolf - What About My Dreams? I have to say that I expected this not to quite make it to your #1 for some reason. File it in the Loreen/Mimi Blix camp of me not loving this as much as I would have done ten years ago, I must be going too MOR these days

02. Loreen - My Heart Is Refusing Me It must have annoyed you more than most when this went up against Spring For Livet in the Andra Chansen duel, very unlucky but I was probably the only person on BJ pleased to see Sara make it to the final. Naturally I'd have preferred this, or anything, over The Moniker for the other slot though. What's the betting he somehow knocks her out of the running during this year's competition :drama:

03. Agnes - Don't Go Breaking My Heart I've documented my thoughts on this! I still have majorly high hopes for the album, after all this got to #4 in my chart as the lead single whereas On & On got all the way to #32!

04. Katzenjammer - I Will Dance (When I Walk Away) Very strong comeback single and practically begs for Radio 2 playlisting

05. Loreen - Sober I actually slightly prefer this to My Heart Is Refusing Me but neither are earth shattering for me

06. Sara Varga - Spring För Livet Gorgeous, shame I didn't quite have room for it in my top ten but it came close!

07. Hera Björk - Because You Can Had forgotten all about this!

09. Cecilie Fleur - Alle De Lykkelige Kærester This was a brilliant BJSC entry, although the 5 weeks it had at #1 in your chart surprised me, purely because runs like that never happen for you outside of Eurovision!

10. Mimi Blix - Allergic Norway's own Loreen, another song I prbably should have got into more than I did...

11. Rebekka Karijord - Wear It Like A Crown

12. Gabrielle - Bordet

13. Sara Bareilles - Gonna Get Over You

14. Ane Brun - Do You Remember?

15. Katzenjammer - Rock-Paper-Scissors

16. Lena - Taken By A Stranger

17. Nightwish - Storytime

18. Le Kid - America

20. Radio Killer - Lonely Heart

21. Oh Land - Sun Of A Gun

22. HandS - No Romance

23. Katzenjammer - Lady Marlene

24. Same Difference featuring Alcazar - Karma Karma

25. Little Majorette - Never Be The Same

26. Bermudaz - Dreaming Of Bermuda

37. Elin Lanto - Funeral

38. Eric Saade - Popular

39. Sanna Nielsen - I'm In Love

40. Rachel Platten - 1000 Ships

41. Patrick Wolf - Together

42. The Saturdays - All Fired Up This is quite LITERALLY the only UK chart hit in your EOY top 50, I'd never actually realised just how far removed from the UK mainstream you'd got recently :o

43. Marigold - You And I Know Starting to love this!

44. The Sound Of Arrows - Wonders

45. Medina - For Altid

47. Elisa Tovati & Tom Dice - Il Nous Faut

48. Daruso - When The Morning Comes

50. Caro Emerald - The Other Woman

Ah, yes. I always thought Kati was one of the better Eurovision songs this year, I hardly listened to it after the contest though. Good (and I did think it might well be) #1 though.

Loving seeing Loreen (both songs) and Agnes in the rest of the top 5 also.

I see I was wrong about there being a mainstream hit. :kink: Thought I'd play my chances, anyway. :D

What About My Dreams was always one of the highlights for most people I think, it's just a shame her live performance was a little shaky!

I've been very disappointed by mainstream music in 2011, here's hoping 2012 is better! :D

Thanks for commenting :D

I believe so, I got mine from Amazon so I expect iTunes will also have it, it's so much better than the Eurovision version!

Thanks for commenting! :D

01 - Well it hasn't performed as well as Hera/Inga & Anush/Yohanna/Euroband/Ishtar etc did, so I guess there was always a chance it might not have been number one, but I do adore it.

02 - I was very happy for Sara to reach the final, but I would have preferred Loreen. It was such an unlucky draw! I really hope Loreen gets to the final this year!

03 - The album should hopefully be great! One of a small amount of albums I'm really looking forward to getting this year!

04 - Indeed it does, and a Jools Holland performance :heehee:

05 - I went through a phase of liking Sober more, but in the end MHIRM just about pipped it! Both are massive favourites of mine, and I'm liking the sound of She's The One too!

06 - It is lovely, and the album was brilliant too!

07 -, I'm not surprised, it was from a while back! One of my favourites from a very strong album though!

09 - Yeah, I'm not sure what happened there really  . 5 weeks was a little excessive looking back!

10 - It's a shame the BBC couldn't have got her to enter this for the UK, it would have been amazing! I'm really surprised it wasn't a BJSC entry actually - I don't think anyone even attempted entering it!

42 - Well, Emma's Imagination's track did chart in it's original short form, but yes, I've been incredibly disappointed with the mainstream music scene in 2011. I really hope there's an improvement this year!

43 - Good to know! :D It's looking more likely to be my first choice of entry into the next BJSC with each passing day!

, thanks, I think! :D

Thanks Liam!

01 - Good to know! It's a classic europop track, every Eurovision Song Contest should have one! :D

02 - Same! I have no idea how it'd have gone down! I suspect it would have either been a huge success or a DNQ though!

05 - I agree entirely!

09 - Glad to hear it! It seemed to be the one song that most people liked considering it was my only entry in TBO semi finals, yet it only managed 15th place in XXXVI making it my 6th best position from the last 10 contests!

35 - The album was great! I love so many of their singles - this would probably be in my top 10 of them!

42 - One of the only chart hits to appear! It is really great though!

Thanks Tom! :D

01 - I'd completely forgotten about that! Yeah, it would have been really interesting to hear it!

17 - Totally! It's very ABBA whilst retaining that typical Nightwish sound, I love it!

18 - Same! A very solid pop album!

20 - :heehee:, it's a good job PRoJ entered it into BJSC or I may have missed it!

26 - No, I stumbled across it on an Icelandic pop compilation album on Amazon. The singer, Iris Holm, has entered the Icelandic selection before and is entering again this year. You might be thinking of Sani's equally as fabulous Doctor Doctor from 2009?

28 - I bet it was! I wish I could have gone :(

31 - Same :drama: One of many big injustices of the 2011 contest.

39 - I can't wait for it! It's surely going to be the best one yet?

41 - I fell in love with it the instant I heard it! To me, it's sounds like there's a Visage vibe about it?

44 - Agreed, and the instrumental disc was superb too

50 - I think it peaked at #9, which was rather low looking back. The Other Woman is one of my favourites from the album though, but the radio it is a bit better.

Hey Ghosty! Here's what I like in your top fifty (with some comments :o):

01. Kati Wolf - What About My Dreams? Ooh, have to say, I guessed Loreen would get this but then this IS still in your chart! Can't really argue with it, certainly one of the best Eurovision entries last year, I got very excited when I heard it in a Clapham bar we went out to after watching the contest!

02. Loreen - My Heart Is Refusing Me You know I adore this too  So excited to see her back again!

03. Agnes - Don't Go Breaking My Heart

04. Katzenjammer - I Will Dance (When I Walk Away)

05. Loreen - Sober

06. Sara Varga - Spring För Livet I remember rallying against this at the time because of the songs it beat, but it's not too bad now that I go back to it :D

09. Cecilie Fleur - Alle De Lykkelige Kærester

11. Rebekka Karijord - Wear It Like A Crown

12. Gabrielle - Bordet This really does outstrip Ring Meg really, every listen I fall for it more

13. Sara Bareilles - Gonna Get Over You

16. Lena - Taken By A Stranger I was never taken with Satellite so I was shocked to like this so much, another sad underperformer!

18. Le Kid - America

21. Oh Land - Sun Of A Gun Her most instant song, probably her best although I did love White Nights a lot

22. HandS - No Romance

Fantastic chart! Great to see Patrick make the top ten albums too :D

Hi Martin :D

I'd been following your chart as it unfolded so now I shall add some comments:

01. Kati Wolf - What About My Dreams?

Yay!!! :D I noticed this still doing extremely well in your chart for a while after Eurovision. Iirc, I made a comparison between this track and Hera Björk 'Je Ne Sais Quoi' from 2010. It was a decent Eurovision entry - can't remember without checking if I charted 'What About My Dream?' - if I did, it would've been lower down my chart. In fact, Eurovision didn't have quite as big an impact on my chart compared to previous years. Azerbaijan hosting Eurovision has aleady caused some controversy because of their politics. Purely because they're popular there, I'm still hopeful that the UK will be represented by Hurts this year.

05. Loreen - Sober

I'm not familiar with 'My Heart Is Refusing Me' but I don't really pay that much attention to Melodifestivalen. In contrast, I was introduced to 'Sober' thanks to BJSC. I still think if this track is given a UK push in the Spring, I don't see why this track can't become a fairly big hit. September and Agnes have achieved it, so Loreen could be added to the list of successful Swedish female pop acts to get a top 10 hit.

09. Cecilie Fleur - Alle De Lykkelige Kærester

"I love your looking Casper". :P Despite not really understanding the lyrics, and basically replaciing the lyrics with English words that sound similar, I quite enjoyed this track you entered into BJSC. It's uplifting, feel good unashamed pop music and all the better for it. Made #13 in my personal chart. :cheer:

20. Radio Killer - Lonely Heart

One of those BJSC XXXIV discoveries that continued to grow post contest. At the time I gave 'Lonely Heart' 3 points (it was the contest I hosted and genuinely thought 35 of the 40 entries were great - was a nightmare awarding points in the final :o ). The track eventually peaked at #8 in my chart and became one of the 5 tracks I voted for in the early stages of TBO.

22. HandS - No Romance

Interesting to think that nobody entered this into BJSC. When the track leaked I think it was Tyrren who posted this in the Pop forum. Iirc, confirmations for BJSC had just closed when this leaked so nobody thought of entering the track the following contest. Maybe it had gained too much Buzzjack love so might've been veto'd as "cheap" even though it wasn't even a hit. :o

29. Agnes Obel - Riverside

Aww, my precious Obel. Now with the way I compile my chart BJSC has had a big influence. It's also freshened up my chart so much (I'm actually really happy about this because the UK release schedule at times in 2011 was looking very dry for big hits that I liked). I adore 'Riverside', right from the first time I played it on YouTube not knowing what to expect. To win BJSC in my first contest was a major surprised and when the realisation finally kicked in that I would be hosting that next contest really did make me feel nervous (I'd never done anything like this, even on ChC - last time I attempted hosting something on a forum it was CC Idol way back in 2005 although that did end up being considered a success at the time  ). I owe a lot to Phil (Silas) as he really helped me out during the initial stages of hosting and (BJSC IIIV typo on the semi final video recaps aside) everything seemed to go really well. :D

30. Emma's Imagination - This Day

Was this the studio version you charted? I wonder if we'll ever hear more from Emma's Imagination. Such a shame Sky 1 didn't have a second series of Must Be The Music. I still remember Pepper & Piano from 2010 as their single 'You Stole My Heart' did well in my chart - a track that wouldn't have been out of place on Adele's 3.7 million UK selling album '21'. I guess Pepper & Piano were too ahead of their time. :kink: As for Emma's Imagination, I also charted the acoustic version of 'This Day' which I preferred more.

32. B-A-B-E - (Itsie Bitsie Boe) Geef Maar Lekker Toe!

Bless!!! :D It wouldn't have surprised me if this track would've made the BJSC final had it been entered into the previous months contest (when I made my debut) but as I mentioned above BJSC XXXIV felt so strong overall that this probably suffered due to the high quality of that contest. It finished 4th in its semi for The Rejects so that proves it had its appeal and fans all along. :D

38. Eric Saade - Popular

The track that ended up being the best performing Eurovision entry in my chart after my initial lack of interest in the song. All along my fave had been 'Sognu' but what ruined everything was when Amury performed the song on Eurovision night in a lower key and somehow sounded out of key for the first part of the song - or maybe it was just my hearing. It meant the song lacked that "moment" when the high note at the end wasn't quite so high after all. What should've been a moment turned into a slight fizzle. :(

I can't argue with that top three albums, all topped my weekly chart  Love that Steps got as high as #3 despite being an almost complete rehash of Gold  And Oh Alright! is perfect pop, it would have been a contender for a high placing in my all time favourite albums if only I hadn't already known 80% of it pre-release, it didn't exactly keep many surprises back and therefore left my affections more quickly than it probably should have done...

01 - I imagaine I'd have been just as, if not more excited at hearing it in a bar! . It was a close one between Loreen and Kati, but Kati spent the longest amount of time at #1 in 2011, plus as you pointed out she is still on my chart, so in the end it had to be her who got #1 here!

02 - Same! Can't wait to hear her entry, hope it's a good one!

06 - I always had a soft spot for it, it was just unfortunate that it was drawn against some equally as brilliant tracks!

12 - It outstripped Ring Meg on first listen for me, but then I adore this sort of scandi-dance-pop! Bordet wouldn't sound out of place as a Loreen track actually :o

16 - It's such an intriguing song! It should have done a lot better in the contest, but I'm pleased it came top 10!

21 - It's easily her best for me!

31 - I was shocked, but it did seem to be lacking something. There was more of a "This is the winner" vibe going on in MGP with it, but all that was lost on the Eurovision stage for some unknown reason...

Thanks for commenting! :D

What should've been a moment turned into a slight fizzle. :(

Thanks for commenting, Hits! :D

01 - I remember the comparison with Je Ne Sais Quoi! I like both songs pretty much equally so it makes sense! One thing I've noticed with the BBC in the past five years or so is they'll try hard one year, then not give two hoots the next - 2008 and 2010 were awful as far as the UK selection went, so I expect 2012 will be just as bad. Fingers crossed for Hurts though, but I suspect we may end up with Jason Donovan :(

05 - Loreen only needs a promo push here and I'm certain she'll have at least two smash hits with both of these tracks. Loreen could easily be the next Robyn here imo.

09 - Glad you like it, and that it charted well with you! I do wonder what it is she's saying - the only thing I know is that the title translates as All The Happy Lovers, so I'm not sure she goes into the swearing rant it seems like she does in the chorus! :heehee:

20 - It was an instant favourite of mine, getting my 12 points in both the semi final and final of XXXIV. It's a shame it didn't progress to the final in TBO.

22 - Had it come out a couple of days sooner it most definitely would have been entered and probably would have won. I guess by the time the next contest came round most of us were already starting to get over it and hence no one sent it! Not sure if it would have been vetoed in all honesty!

29 - You hosted it superbly! Riverside was a well deserved winner! It had won another contest I take part in in January 2011 so I knew it could go very well in BJSC. I was a little dismayed that it was entered the same time as I entered Lady Marlene though as they are similar sounding, but Riverside very much overshadowed katzenjammer

30 - It was, I had charted the acoustic version before, but the studio version really brought the song to life for me! The Pepper & Piano track was really good, and I agree it would have made a brilliant Adele track!

32 -, I did enter this purely for the comedy factor and it's because everything about it is so funny that I love it! From the song itself, to the outfits, to the dodgy dancing, to the facial expressions and finally the ironic jingle at the end of the video, it's just the epitome of a hot mess!

38 - Sognu was always one of my least favourite entries, so I'm glad it completely bombed tbh! The only good thing that would have come out of it winning is that Eurovision would have been a quick train journey away this year!

Steps were always going to be contenders for number one on my EOY albums chart, and they came close as it was a very fierce battle between the top 3! I actually prefer it when I already know loads of tracks on an album weirdly, so the Le Kid album was brilliant for me! :D

Interesting contrast to me then! It's nice in some cases for familiarity but for me I've often already worn a lot of the songs out and have no desire to go back to them so if there's an album full of 7 songs I already know, have loved, and haven't listened to for ages, it sort of puts me off it a bit :( I'm therefore a bit worried if this will happen with the Lana Del Rey album as I've heard at least half of it already!

As for Steps, if they release a new studio album in 2012 then that's your EOY #1 sewn up
