Can we really count Lana and Emeli? They've already had a top 10 hit each (the latter has had 4 top 10 hits in fact, although 3 were features).

Yes because, in terms of albums, they are debut artists. :P

I'm hoping Vampire Weekend will come back and become absolutely MASSIVE in 2012. :D

It's actually possible given how well Foster the People did this year. Gotye smashing will make the climate a lot easier for them doing well though.

People predicting "Born To Die" as the biggest album of the year already, it would need a series of big singles to do so - the title track going top 5 would be nowhere near enough. Jessie J hasn't managed a million this year with a near-constant run of top 20 singles and a near-million selling lead single. The #1 album of the year will need to do well over a million so if "Born To Die" doesn't shift 500k then I can't see the album being as big as everyone expects.

I don't think Lana Del Rey will be massive either - I'm thinking Marina & the Diamonds type success (although obviously Lana already has a top ten single, so it's likely she'll score another). I can't say I have a huge opinion of her either way though.
I think Lana's album will be big but definitely not #1 album of the year status. I think that title will return to belonging to big Q4 releases every year and Adele's massive success will turn out to be somewhat of a one-off.
No Doubt, Madonna and Robbie Williams are all scheduled to release new albums - so any of them could well storm the UK and be crowned year-end #1.
Think Emeli Sande and Lana Del Ray definitely will.

Hopefully Ellie will have a nice comeback.

I think theres a chance Bastille could breakthrough and make a rather large impact.

Really hope it is the year of Urban female artists breaking through and doing big things Azealia Banks, Tanya Lacey and Misha B.

I'm also going to say Gotye although he might go down the same route as Owl City in 2010. One massive UK hit then all follow up singles not really taking off anywhere near as much.

Wally De Backer? Hardly a new artist but could be. I did an interview with him back in 2008 and thought he'd disappeared.

Little Mix and Misha B will be big, they have a ready made fanbase and an easy transition because of their styles.

Maybe someone like Gabrielle Aplin will break through...
