In an all-new Top 3, Leonard Cohen debuts at No2 with ‘Old Ideas’ – and at the age of 77 he achieves a personal best on this chart, ahead of the No5 debut for his previous studio album ‘Dear Heather’ back in 2004. In contrast 21-year old Maverick Sabre claims this week’s third new entry at No3 with his debut ‘Lonely Are The Brave’, despite the fact that both of his singles ‘Let Me Go’ and ‘I Need’ stalled outside the Top 30. The fourth and final new entry in this week’s chart is at No10 for Dublin’s Delorentos with their independently-released third album ‘Little Sparks’. Their first album ‘In Love With Detail’ came in at No7 in 2007 and the follow-up ‘You Can Make Sound’ made No2 in 2009. After two weeks at No1, Jessie J’s ‘Domino’ is deposed by Gotye who climbs to the top with ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ (feat Kimbra) – initially a massive hit in his native Australia and now No1 across much of Europe. Flo Rida leaps twelve places from No15 to No3 with ‘Wild Ones’ (feat. Sia), his seventh appearance in the Top 5 in Ireland, including five No1’s. Highest climber honours this week go to Kelly Clarkson, who leaps 16 places from No25 to No9 with ‘What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)’ – her eleventh hit single in Ireland since winning the first American Idol back in 2003. This is the first Australian single to top the Irish Charts since Yolanda Be Cool’s ‘We No Speak Americano’ back in the summer of 2010. Jessie J is a non-mover at No2 with her former No1 ‘Domino’, ahead of 2 tracks featuring Australian singer Sia – Flo Rida’s ‘Wild Ones’ at No3 and David Guetta’s ‘Titanium’ which jumps from No7 to No4. Following her well-received Super Bowl show, Madonna has this week’s highest new entry with ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’ (feat. This week she proves the critics right, debuting at No 1 on the Singles Chart with her third single ‘Next To Me’ and landing at No 2 on the Album Chart with her debut ‘Our Version Of Events’. Gotye & Kimbra dip to No 2 after two weeks at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’, one place ahead of non-mover Flo Rida at No 3 with ‘Wild Ones’ (feat. Sia). This compilation was originally released in November 2007, when it debuted and peaked at No6 before returning to the chart at No5 last week. With ‘The Essential’ at No8, ‘The Greatest Hits’ at No42, ‘The Collection’ at No48, ‘The Bodyguard’ soundtrack at No7 on the Compilation Chart and ‘The Bodyguard’ film at No8 on the Video Chart, Whitney’s legacy is evident. Lana Del Rey’s ‘Born To Die’ dips to No2 after three weeks on top, ahead of Emeli Sandé’s ‘Our Version Of Events’, down from No2 to No3 and Adele’s ‘21’ steady at No4. In an unusually quiet week for major new releases, there are no new entries in this week’s Top 50. Emeli Sandé holds at No1 on the Singles Chart for a second week with ‘Next To Me’, heading a Top 3 unchanged since last week – Gotye & Kimbra at No2 and Flo Rida & Sia at No3. It’s a good week for Nicki Minaj who features on David Guetta’s ‘Turn Me On’ (up from No8 to No4) and she also has this week’s highest new entry at No8 with ‘Starships’. Her previous best on this chart was No5, also with David Guetta on ‘Where Them Girls At’ last May. Adele will probably be catching up a bit with her Irish #1 weeks in the UK on Sunday then :P It's had 33 weeks at #1 in Ireland and will likely get a 21st week in the UK this week. Great to see Ed Sheeran making the Irish top 10 with 'Drunk', it looks like it may miss out in the UK but at least it's got there somewhere.
