June 24, 201213 yr Now that was an INCREDIBLE race!! So many crashes, overtakes and drama! Really great for Force India and glad Hamilton got knocked off at the end there by Maldonado!!
June 24, 201213 yr Just saw this image on Autosport! After all these years, the same 3 drivers are back on the podium and 3 of the best drivers in recent history as well! http://i49.tinypic.com/2nsv1wi.png
June 24, 201213 yr Fantastic race, was really pleased to see Vettel and Hamilton DNF. Felt really sorry for Grosjean, he's been exciting on his comeback, and was hoping for 8 different winners. Still, I thought the podium was fantastic to see, a throwback to the previous era shown above. Schumi
June 26, 201213 yr Europe was a fantastic race and the best race ever that Valencia has had. As the previous four grand prixs there apart from Webber's crash in 2010 have been quite dull. Great win for Alonso. Brillant drive from 11th on the grid in win. Great to see Schumacher get a podium. He deserves that after the bad luck he has had this season. Silverstone next! Bring it on. F1 2012 as Murray Walker would say is 'FANTASTIC'
July 4, 201213 yr Terrible news in the F1 world over the last couple of days. Yesterday, Marussia reserve/test driver Maria de Villota was involved in a crash during straight-line testing yesterday. She was then fighting for her life in hospital yesterday and today it was unfortunately revealed Maria had lost her right eye. A positive is that she is now stable and no longer in a life-threatening condition, but thoughts are with Maria and her family after this terrible injury.
July 10, 201213 yr Mark Webber is staying at Red Bull for 2013 which ends any rumours about him moving to Ferrari. Red Bull look set to keep the same line-up of Vettel and Webber for 2013. Do people think Massa will stay at Ferrari in 2013?
July 13, 201213 yr I don't think there is any chance of Massa staying at Ferrari, he's just not performing anything like well enough! Then again, who would replace him? I think that Perez is still too young for Ferrari to consider, Webber is staying at Red Bull it seems, I doubt Raikkonen would return there alongside Alonso. Rosberg would probably be someone Ferrari will look at, but I can't see Mercedes letting him go. Maybe they could go for a complete surprise and put Bianchi in the car, he's been doing reasonably well for Force India in the practices and Bianchi is part of Ferrari's driver programme. It's definitely going to be an interesting "silly season" anyway, with possible changes at Ferrari and McLaren with Hamilton seemingly not 100% committed.
July 22, 201212 yr Author Great race again this season, happy to see Alonso on top, very deserved win. Vettel should have got penalty immediately, not after the race -_-. Very sad coz of Lewis, he would be easily in top 3, and great race for Schumacher, Perez, Kobayashi and Rosberg. Can't wait for Hungary GP!
July 22, 201212 yr Yep, it was a great race after an amazing wet qualifying yesterday!! I thought Button was going to get Alonso at one point and he ended up losing out to Vettel. I'm expecting Vettel to get a penalty either to drop him back to 3rd or a time penalty equivalent to a drive through. Happy that Force India got a couple of points, but it could have been even better when Hulkenberg qualified an incredible 4th! Love it when there is a race on consecutive weekends, bring on Budapest!
July 22, 201212 yr Author Sebastian Vettel has received a twenty second post-race penalty, dropping him to fifth place behind Button, Raikkonen and Kobayashi. #F1 :D
July 22, 201212 yr :D Haha! Deservedly so! Maybe a drop just behind Button would have been fairer, but if it gives more points to Kobayashi and Raikkonen, then I'm happy!
July 22, 201212 yr Gutted, really don't want Alonso to win the Championship but looks like it's his, Ferrari the most consistent car.
August 8, 201212 yr yeah the way things are going something terrible would have to happen to the rest of Alonso's season for him not to be crowned champion at the end of this year. As much as I dislike him, I can't fault his talent as a driver and who would have thought he would be in this position by the mid-season break with the way that Ferrari were in pre-season? I can't see Massa staying, he just hasn't performed since coming back from that accident a couple of seasons back. But who would replace him? Whoever goes there is always going to have to play second fiddle to Alonso, so I can't see any of the top names (who aren't already signed for next year) doing it.
August 11, 201212 yr The lack of dry pace from Ferrari at Hungaroring was quite alarming, however, with only 9 races left and a comfortable lead for Alonso I'd still have him as the favourite going into the second half of the season, given that he's much less likely to make mistakes/have off races than the other protagonists.
August 25, 201212 yr No driver replacements mid-season yet. This would be the first time since 2008 that no team has replaced any of their drivers throughout the season. Don't forget also Super Aguri did pull out of F1 after the Spanish Grand Prix due to finanical issues. Who do you think might get replaced?
August 25, 201212 yr I can't see anyone getting replaced unless HRT decided to play musical chairs again - I can see Clos getting a couple of races at the end. Otherwise I think that'll be it! I prefer it when we keep the same drivers throughout a season! :D
September 1, 201212 yr Very mixed up top 10 today! Should mean a brilliant race tomorrow as races at Spa always are! Still remember Spa qualifying in 2009, was so so pleased for Fisichella's pole for Force India! One of the biggest shocks in F1 history I think!
September 1, 201212 yr I wouldn't say so. Fisi could always wrangle a surprising amount of performance out of a shit car. He was always abysmal at getting any performance out of the Renault though :( After Australia '05 where he won that spectacular race his performance just dived. He was always pretty good at Spa, save for the year he went backwards into the wall at the top of Eau Rouge. (Though iirc the fastest lap of the race was set by him just before that while it was still part wet.) No surprise Maldonaldo has had a penalty and been dropped a bit. Kimi is now 3rd which is nice. If Roman can pass him and manage not to get taken out by him at the start we're in for a good race. (If Maldonaldo wants to take out Hamilton again, that's fine by me.)
September 2, 201212 yr I wouldn't say so. Fisi could always wrangle a surprising amount of performance out of a shit car. If Roman can pass him and manage not to get taken out by him at the start we're in for a good race. (If Maldonaldo wants to take out Hamilton again, that's fine by me.) It was definitely the biggest shock in my time in watching F1 anyway (since about 2002)! Fisi was great at outperforming lower class cars, but despite being with Force India since their creation at the beginning of 2008 neither he or Sutil had managed a single point! Force India just had the perfect low downforce package that only worked at Spa and Monza and no-one realised until that weekend! It may be my love of Force India that makes this stick in my mind, but it was an incredible surprise at the time! I agree it was a shame he didn't succeed completely at Renault, but at least he got a couple of seasons fighting for regular podiums and points! Yep, it's gonna be a great race I think! Two Saubers in the top 4 now with a McLaren and a Lotus. I wonder if Sauber with their great tyre management could spring a surprise and maybe pull out a 1-stop? It'd be very difficult but I wouldn't put it past them trying with one of their cars!
