Posted January 11, 201213 yr http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk129/juranamo_1/545ff5e6.jpg So Feeder are back on the 26th March with their 8th Album, Generation Freakshow. Album title seems very un-Feeder-like but I'm hopeful that it'll be brilliant as usual. Especially going by lead single, Borders! Am hoping that with a few indie songs/albums doing a bit better lately, they'll some how manage a decent hit album this time. The singles off Renegades didn't even go Top 200 and the album only got to #16. :( 29:01:12 Borders Download 30:01:12 Borders CD Single/7" Single/Cassette Single 26:03:12 Generation Freakshow Odd that they're choosing to release Borders as multi format singles, haven't really seen that in a while. Especially with that Cassette. Borders: oUN3xCgauEA Edited January 20, 201213 yr by Juranamo
January 12, 201213 yr I don't think I ever even got Renegades but I'll give this a go. One of my favourite nostalgia bands.
January 12, 201213 yr Author YouTube vid in opening post. I love the artwork for the album, not feeling the single cover so much! :P I'll probably be one of about 3 people who care about this era. But I don't care. I love the single personally! :D Generation Freaksow http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk129/juranamo_1/545ff5e6.jpg Borders http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk129/juranamo_1/71b44796.jpg
January 20, 201213 yr Author I don't care that I'm the only one who's going on about this. Official video was released today! oUN3xCgauEA
April 24, 201213 yr Author Album was released yesterday. Predictably, I think it's great. I still find Borders amazing. :D 2nd single from the album, Children Of The Sun, is released next week, unfortunately it's only out on 7" though, so will probably do bugger all. I'm hoping the Radio Edit and B-Side are released to iTunes at least... Great to have another album out though. I'm seeing them on Thursday, so will probably write a review of the gig and album on Friday? :o
April 24, 201213 yr Daniel, your such A Loser ;) But I find this post interesting. So thank you for it :D
April 25, 201213 yr Author Oh, by the way. Children Of The Sun video. EJ0yX3xpXk0&ob=av2e Very goom imo. Such a brilliant album too, glad it looks like it'll go Top 10.
May 5, 201213 yr Author [01] Oh My This is a nice enough, catchy opener. I’d say it’s even single material despite being nowhere near my favourite track on the album. It reminds me a lot of some of my favourite songs with that sort of piano-esque background music! I rate this a solid 9/10. [02] Borders Lead single off the album, and deservedly so. Those crashing guitars have me hooked, and the chorus is so catchy. It’s haunting, yet fun at the same time. 10/10. [03] Idaho This one has THE chorus to get you hooked. Radio friendly and fairly simple. Not a lot to say, I like. 9/10. [04] Hey Johnny Clearly this song is about an old friend of Grant’s, that doesn’t hold it back from being one of my favourites on the album. The verses are addictive, and the chorus has been stuck in my head since the moment I heard it (almost!). 10/10. [05] Quiet This is the longest song on the album, and is a pretty pleasant listen. Sounds like it was intended to be the ‘Down To The River’ of this album by providing a nice mellow break. I think it does get overshadowed by a number of other strong tracks on the album though. 7/10. [06] Sunrise Yes, Grant had the lyrics on the floor when he was playing this live. Is it a good song? Yes. A little more memorable than the song prior to it in the tracklisting, another song that’s easy on the ears though! 8/10. [07] Generation Freakshow Kaiser Chiefs did this song a couple of years ago, only better (imo). That doesn’t take away from the fact that this song IS awesome though. (Never Miss A Beat is my favourite by the aforementioned band, and one of my top songs of 2009…). The chorus is punchy and sounds GREAT live. 10/10. [08] Tiny Minds So I got this song back in February (I think) when it was put up for pre-order. The chorus reminds me of Tranquilize by The Killers (which again, I love). This is a nice contrast to Generation Freakshow and the solo is brilliant. Overshadowed by a few of my favourites, but it’s still up there. 9/10. [09] In All Honesty Now we start to turn the rock on, this reminds me a little of Into The Blue and is addictive as anything. It’s nothing special, a little throwaway, but maybe that the point of it? 9/10. [10] Headstrong We carry on with the throwaway rock tunes here, good times ahead and all that jazz. It seems that after this track the album gets a bit more serious, so maybe this should have been place before In All Honesty! Not a bad word to say about this song, I really enjoy it. 9/10. [11] Fools Can’t Sleep Now this song sounds just a tad out of place. It sounds a bit like a B-Side and I’m fairly certain Arms would have fit in a bit better here. Probably my lowlight of the album, though I still enjoy it! 7/10. [12] Miles Away Clearly the iTunes bonus track, but I feel it deserves a mention. It’s marginally weaker than Fools Can’t Sleep, but only because of the intro which makes it more difficult for me to get into the song. 7/10. [13] Children Of The Sun I’ve warmed to this being a single, this one’s a grower. To those who claim it to be Just The Way I’m Feeling part 3, I disagree. This is more like Tumble And Fall in my opinion (which I prefer) and the electronics in the chorus make me feel good. 10/10. [14] Sky Life Nice acoustic ending. A little fillery, It is obviously a Children Of The Sun demo as it has the exact same intro and hasn’t been polished, but I feel this deserves a higher status than ‘hidden track’, it’s such a sweet song. 9/10. Overall the album flows well and I’d say it’s easily better than Renegades. I’m not sure where it would rank in my overall Feeder albums just yet, but I’d like to rank it an overall 9.5/10.
