Not surprising, but I believe an apt winner. :D
Didn't expect anything else, not to say that I agree with it. Utterly rubbish lyrics.

right, probably the most deserving....

Much prefer Rolling

I agree, this definitely should have won.

My favourite off the list, so I'm glad it won, obvious winner or not  Wish Olly would've been a bit higher though...
Best song on the list received the fewest votes - bollocks to that. SLY was far from my favourite song of the year but a worthy winner in any case.

?!?!?!? Whaaaaat? Please....explain...... because, lyrically, Someone Like You is utterly jaw-droppingly brilliant... so what do you find so 'rubbish' about it lyrically?

As someone who thinks it's a load of over-sentimental old tosh, I always quite enjoy reading Aiden Moffatt's amusing take on it whenever I'm forced to endure the horrible whining.

'Someone like you' deserves that number 1 whether over-sentimental tosh or not... it's a great piece of songwriting...

Someone Like You's lyrics can be seen as brilliant and horrendous. It's incredibly easy to pick apart but you could say the vague nature of the lyrics while still having the dominant theme of losing a loved one is one of the song's biggest strengths if not the very biggest.

I would have preferred Rolling or HIAM to win this but it's deserving and the rightful winner I guess.

well said

it's the universal lyrics & simple melody that makes it so global....
