Posted August 6, 200618 yr OK, I'll probably do this every week from now until I get bored with it. Based on the new Top 40, this is probably what tonight's TOTP would have looked like had the show not been axed. I have kept the length at 35 minutes but have ditched the two archive slots as they were only showing things we'd seen a million times anyway : TOTP 6/8/06 (presented by Colin & Edith) Cascada - "Everytime We Touch" (4) Rihanna - "Unfaithful" (2) (video) Captain - "Glorious" (30) Frank - "I'm Not Shy" (40) Snow Patrol - "Chasing Cars" (13) The Holloways - "Two Left Feet" (33) Paris Hilton - "Stars Are Blind" (5) (video) Similou - "All This Love" (20) Shakira featuring Wyclef Jean - "Hips Don't Lie" (1) (video) The Raconteurs - "Hands" (29) (video/credits) Any suggestions for future presenters or any other features that you think should be added to the show? Also, what day do you think it should be on? The obvious answer is Thursday (or Friday for some) but I think it should be Monday or Tuesday to give them time to get all the bands together for the show following Sunday's chart.
August 6, 200618 yr This is a brilliant idea! :D My plan for TOTP would be for it to be on Sunday's at 18:15 Hrs on BBC1 with the new chart (Its unique selling point). But the bookers for the show would know which acts to get from the midweeks available to the music industry on Tuesday.
August 6, 200618 yr That's a great line-up, and can't find an improvement. Maybe a bit on the Album of the week perhaps? Thursday would be my favourite day, around 7pm. Would not a Thursday give them 2 additional days over a Tuesday, or are you somehow deferring it for a week? :unsure?
August 6, 200618 yr This is a great feature :D I think that TOP should be on Thursday at 7 as well, as thats the traditional slot for it :D
August 6, 200618 yr Put it on Saturday at 6:00 on BBC1 - prime viewing for those getting ready to go out, and they could do CD:UK-esque assumptions of who'd be number one the next day, and we could laugh when they get it wrong  But still, it would be perfect for ratings - loads of people would watch it, and it might give some people an idea of what to ask the DJ to play that night.
August 6, 200618 yr Author That's a great line-up, and can't find an improvement. Maybe a bit on the Album of the week perhaps? Thursday would be my favourite day, around 7pm. Would not a Thursday give them 2 additional days over a Tuesday, or are you somehow deferring it for a week? :unsure? Thanks. An album slot could work. When you say 'album of the week' do you mean the current No.1 album or the biggest new album released that week? I agree, it would be great to have TOTP back on a Thursday, though the chart is already 4 days old by that point. Before October '87, the chart was announced on a Tuesday and TOTP recorded the following night (unless it was live on the Thursday) so maybe two days is all they need to get a decent chart-based show together?
August 6, 200618 yr Great idea. I would put TOTP on a Thursday 7pm a traditional slot, it be nice just to have Radio 1 djs compering the show rather than celebs aka Jermey Clarkson, my foot.
