Posted January 29, 201213 yr efGhkAsN-eg So we're travelling forward a couple of years this week to the performance of Borderline from the Sticky & Sweet tour (08 leg). The UK #2 single was given an uptempo sunny rock-pop arrangement and Madonna took an 'interesting' approach to the vocals (that death metal ROAR in the chorus never fails to make me laugh for good or bad) - did it do it for you? Do you prefer the Borderline performance from The Virgin Tour (the only time previously she's performed it on tour)? Personally this is one of my highlights of the tour although like virtually every S&S performance I prefer to listen to it than watch it!
January 30, 201213 yr When I first heard Borderline was gunna be on the S&S set list I was like definitely NO!. I was never a fan of Borderline until I went and M changed my mind, I couldn't stand it before but I LOVED the S&S tour version. I love how she's screams mother f*cker in the middle of the song for no reason!. Rock on M.
January 30, 201213 yr I love Borderline! I remember when I heard the song for the first time, when my cousin played me Madonna`s first album. Being a kid, I had no idea Like A Virgin was her 2nd album. It was my cousin`s favourite Madonna song at the point and she rightly predicted it would be successful if she re-released it in the UK. Loved this performance of the song and I love how she breathes new life in her older work for a new audience. :)
February 2, 201213 yr So pleased she included this again on a Tour. I love this version but prefer the original album version for this hook 'look what your love has done to me c'mon baby set me free.......' 'You cause me so much pain i think im going insane what does it take to make you see' . Sadly the hook is edited out of the video / single version!
February 3, 201213 yr Loving this version! Great vocals, and I love this rock version more than the original! Has she done any more rock versions of songs?
February 3, 201213 yr Author Just off the top of my head... American Life (Re-Invention Tour) Holiday (Re-Invention) Nobody Knows Me (Re-Invention) Let It Will Be (Confessions Tour) Ray of Light (Confessions) Hung Up (Sticky & Sweet Tour) ...all rockified. Avoid Hung Up at all costs.
February 3, 201213 yr ^ completely agree with Hung Up comment! Human Nature (Sticky and sweet tour) Burning Up (Re Invention Tour) Material Girl (Re Invention Tour) On second leg of the sticky and sweet tour Dress You Up was rockified too!
