Adele continues her lead... wow! With the Grammys on the way, we could see about 500K sold in the 1st two months of 2012.
Why do The Black Keys always seem to plummet in the first set of updates and then come back into the top 10?

I know the 54.98% figure doesn't necessarily mean it encompasses 54.98% of the sales of every album, but if Adele is already at 71k she could be back over 100k this week. I hope so, so we discover the significance of that 34th week over 100k :P

Wasn't expecting her to be comfortably ahead again this week, I was sure Tim McGraw would be a pretty good shout for #1. (Very glad he wasn't though :P)

Will be interesting to see where Rumer charts next week, can't believe how well she's doing on iTunes!

She does have that Carpenters vibe about her, and they were popular in the States.

Just noticed that 1D are #115 on album pre-orders on US iTunes :o

FOUR THE RECORD

Woo, Adele comfortably over 100k again :cheer: I wonder what gave it the boost? I guess SFTTR reaching #1 on the Hot 100 helped it.

So she gets a 34th week over 100k and overtakes Usher's total for that - we should find out tomorrow then how far she's now pushed back that record (or even if Usher's was the previous record and she's now beaten it :P)

With the Grammys Nominees album (which features Adele's Rolling In The Deep) entering the top 10 and Kidz Bop 21 (with its mauling of Someone Like You) remaining there the music of Adele is now present on three of the top 10 albums :P

I see Rumer snuck into the top 50 already, perhaps she'll climb next week. Still seems so odd to see this sudden success.

And woo for another British artist in the top 10, even if it is Seal  Ouch at that drop for Coldplay :(

Looking at iTunes Lana Del Rey is heading for #1 next week (she has both of the top 2, as she does in the UK). There don't seem to be anywhere near as many new releases in the iTunes chart as there usually is at this time. SOJA (whatever that is) are at #4, Leonatd Cohen #5 and Fred Hammond #6. There are more new releases lower down but they're probably not worth mentioning.

I'm sure Adele will have more weeks at #1 in the future though

Edited by Bré

hopefully another 5 weeks at the top for Adele after the Grammy performance...
I will be very surprised to see Lana #1 next week even with the top 2 spots on iTunes. I just can't imagine she could sell ~100k and I'm thinking her physical sales must be low. It just makes no sense to me. She's new and hasn't had a hit. How could she be #1?

Oh, Billboard have posted an article predicting Lana to debut at #2 behind Adele - geesh, Adele really is unstoppable  Lana's appeal must be pretty confined to digital in that case, if it's not likely to be ahead of Adele despite holding the top 2 on iTunes!

Lana did have a self-titled EP make the BB200 top 20 a few weeks back. And she performed 'Video Games' somewhere high-profile around the same time which sent it into the 40s on iTunes (not much but still something). She seems like more of an albums artist anyway though as she is in the UK - her 2 singles haven't done THAT well (although VG is holding up very well and will probably sell quite a lot in the long run and BTD could do similarly) but the album is likely to sell well over 100k this week.

Just had to Google SOJA as I'm intrigued - stands for Soliders Of Jah Army
