So I saw PSB last night, they was absolutely immense. I wasn't sure how they'd transfer live but they're ridiculously talented and were very funny too. I heard a lot of people significantly older than me say they were one of the best acts they've ever seen. I'd definitely see them again if I get the chance.

Glad you enjoyed them (how did I miss your post until now?). You're right, the idea of them playing live doesn't sound like it would work but it does. I'm seeing them again on Wednesday at the Forum in Kentish Town (just over 2,000 capacity) which will be their biggest headlining gig by far so it will be interesting to see how it goes. According to their Facebook page it is almost sold out which is fantastic news.

This is up there with CHRVCHES for my favourite album of the year, and from that article, Wildegoose seems to be an interesting guy. I've been forcing all my friends to listen to the album since it came out.

I hope your friends appreciate it :D

Well I found the other night that my housemate had nicked my vinyl out of my room and was playing it to his girlfriend. So I think I have them hooked.

And that next step could happen this Sunday. There is a chance that a song by PSB will be used at the end of BBC 1's coverage of the final race of the Formula 1 season in Brazil (quite possibly Signal 30, or, thinking fancifully, a brand new composition). Given that Alastair Griffen got a top 40 single on the basis of something similar happening in 2010, it could be absolutely massive if that happened.

You must have had the same e-mail that I had :D I suppose it depends in part on whether people are told what the music is or are impressed enough to find out.

They are one of those acts I'd be genuinely happy to see make it big. The more exposure from this kind of thing they get, the better.

Unfortunately I'd imagine given the way F1 has been this season there will be a lot less people watching it than in 2010, plus there's also simultaneous Sky coverage too. They like Alistair Griffin, I discovered 'Always No. 1' from the F1 at the end of last season but that didn't make the top 75....

Absolutely brilliant show last night. The larger venue was a good excuse to turn up the volume to the max. There was a bit more banter than the previous two times I'd seen them although it's still all pre-recorded  They're obviously able to spend a bit more with loads of balloons for ROYGBIV (guess what colours) and five real trombonists (plus members of the support bands) for Everest.
"Elfstedentocht" would sound fantastic to an underground club..Their music is awesome and i like the angry beats to it..

Somebody recommended this album to me on Facebook earlier and I've been listening to it all day. Love the whole concept of the act and Spitfire and Night Mail are excellent standalone songs.
Three things.

1) What took you so long?

2) Your FB friend has excellent taste.

3) It is ruddy marvelous, isn't it?

1) I'd heard the name of the act bandied about but never knew anything about them nor had I heard anything by them. 30 seconds of Spitfire was enough to draw me in.

2) Yep! I posted a link to my top 40 albums of the year and he was questioning the absence of this album!

Public Service Broadcasting will be supporting Kaiser Chiefs on their tour :o That should help raise their profile. They have also got a grant to help finance their second album

I was taken aback a bit by that announcement, it seemed like an odd match. Not that I'm complaining of course, given Kaiser Chiefs' recent career renaissance and the boost to the profile they'll get from it, especially given that they're going out around the time that their 2nd album is due. They're due to announce the details of that album early next month, I'm interested to hear what it's going to be like.
It will be interesting to see what sort of reception they get. I'm sure there will be some slightly confused people in the audience  The wording of the PSB announcement suggests that they were specifically invited by the Kaisers which is good. I'm surprised by the choice but surprised in a very good way :D I had been wondering whether to bother going to the Bournemouth gig but I bought my ticket today.
